We consider one class of bursting oscillation models, that is square-wave burster. One of the interesting features of these models is that periodic bursting solution need not to be unique or stable for arbitrarily small values of a singular perturbation parameter $\epsilon$. Recent results show that the bursting solution is uniquely determined and stable for most of the ranges of the small parameter $\epsilon$. In this paper, we present a condition of uniqueness and stability of periodic bursting solutions for all sufficiently small values of $\epsilon$ > 0.
Based on plastic instability, analytical prediction of bursting failure on tube hydroforming processes under combined internal pressure and independent axial feeding is carried out. Bursting is irrecoverable phenomenon due to local instability under excessive tensile stresses. In order to predict the bursting failure, three different classical necking criteria such as diffuse necking criterion for sheet and tube, local necking criterion for sheet are introduced. The incremental theory of plasticity fur anisotropic material is adopted and then the hydroforming limit and bursting failure diagram with respect to axial feeding and hydraulic pressure are presented. In addition, the influences of the material properties such as anisotropy parameter, strain hardening exponent on bursting pressure are investigated. As results of the above approach, the hydroforming limit in view of bursting failure is verified with experimental results.
In this paper, the prestressing order of tendons is studied to minimize a bursting force of an anchorage. The bursting forces is a primary factor of anchorage failures. The forces of the anchorage depend on the prestressing order and size of the tendons, if a lot of tendons are introduced to the anchorage. Many studies have been made to analyze the bursting force of the anchorage. However, the studies have been limited to the bursting forces of the anchorage having one or two tendons. PSC box girder bridges usually have a lot of tendons. And the difference of the bursting forces lies in the prestressing order of the tendons. As a result of the lack of studies on the prestressing order for the bridges, the order depends on the designer's intuition and experiences. It may be stated that this study should be useful for determining the reasonable prestressing order of tendons for the PSC box girder bridges.

For evaluating equations of bursting force in different codes, comparative study of the formulas was conducted. Because the equations does not consider variables such as shape of anchorages, angle of tendons, and eccentricity, a relation between the bursting forces and the variables has to be analyzed. In this paper, therefore, a comparative analysis of bursting forces computed by equations in the codes and finite element analysis was performed. As a result, it could be figured out that bursting force equations in the local zone were determined by coefficient k.
In this paper, the effect of back tension in multi-pass drawing or wiredrawing on the central bursting defect is investigated using finite element predictions. A rigid-plastic finite element method was used together with the McClintock damage model. Central bursting defects under different back tension stress values ranging from 0% to 20% of the yield strength of the material were predicted and they were compared to understand the effect of the back tension stress values on the central bursting defect. It is found that the level of back tension has a strong influence on the cumulative damage. Thus, higher back tension raises the possibility of the central bursting defect occurring, even though it decreases the interfacial pressure between the die and the work piece.
For evaluating equations of bursting force in different codes, comparative study of the formulas was conducted. Because the equations does not consider variables such as shape of anchorages and duct, a relation between the bursting forces and the variables has to be analyzed. In this paper, the bursting forces equation was proposed by finite element analysis. As evaluation through comparison of the proposed equation with the previous ones and an experiment, it was figured out that bursting force computed by the proposed equation could be used for design of reinforcement in the anchorage zone.
When a bubble reaches a free surface, a bursting of the bubble produces a high speed jet. Despite its practical importance, significant effort has been devoted to investigate a bursting jet by a single bubble near a free surface. In the present study, we perform numerical simulations of bubbles in a tandem arrangement at Bo=0.05. The configuration of the tandem bubbles is systematically varied by changing a radius of a following bubble (RF) and the gap distance between two bubbles (L). Compared to a single bubble case, we show that the bursting bubble in the tandem arrangement accelerates, and the jet velocity increases. Moreover, we find that a critical gap distance at which the jet velocity unexpectedly changes exists in the tandem case.
Spontaneous bursting activity was studied in rat thalamocortical slices using extracellular field potential recording to test the potential utilization of ginsenoside Rb$_1$ in controlling overactivated neural systems. In order to induce bursting activity, slices were perfused with Mg$\^$2+/-free artificial cerebrospinal fluid (ACSF). Two major types of spontaneous bursting activity, simple thalamocortical burst complexes (sTBCs) and complex thalamocortical burst complexes (cTBCs), were recorded in Mg$\^$2+/ -free ACSF. Ginsenoside Rb$_1$ selectively suppressed cTBCs. Duration and occurrence rate of cTBCs were reduced by 87.3${\pm}$10.2% and 85.3${\pm}$ 14.7% in the presence of 90 ${\mu}$M ginsenoside Rb$_1$ respectively, while amplitude and intraburst frequency were slightly changed by ginsenoside Rb$_1$. In contrast, ginsenoside Rb$_1$was much less effective in reducing duration and occurrence rate of sTBCs. We also tested effects of ginsenoside Rb$_1$ on bursting activity in the presence of a GABA$\sub$A/ receptor antagonist, bicuculline methiodide (BMI). Ginsenoside Rb$_1$ had no effect in suppressing BMI-induced bursting activities. These results suggest that ginsenoside Rbi may be useful in controlling seizure-like bursting activity under pathological conditions.
The bursting properties under various conditions were investigated to ascertain the optimum conditions to yield the best properties. Fiber aspect ratio (AR: length of fiber/diameter of fiber), interphase condition and fiber content were considered as variables which impact the bursting pressure, bulge constant, torsional rigidity ratio. The bursting pressure of reinforced rubber increases up to 8.73 times compared to the virgin material. The better interphase condition shows the higher bursting pressure at given AR and fiber content. The bulge constant and torsional rigidity highly decrease with increasing AR and better interphase condition at same fiber content. The bulge constant and torsional rigidity reveal the minimum of 11% and 0.6% of the matrix, respectively. The bursted shape after test shows the different patterns between unfilled and reinforced rubbers. The case of virgin rubber shows a radiating shape while that of reinforced rubber shows a fluctuating straight line. Overall, it was found that the fiber AR and interphase condition have an important effect on bursting properties.
