2017년도 온실설계기준(안)에 따른 제주지역 비닐하우스의 내재해성 평가 (Performance Evaluation of Disaster Resistance of Plastic Greenhouse in Jeju Region according to 2017 Design Code Draft)

  • As the number of plastic greenhouses has increased in Korea, the damage from typhoons and snow has also increased. Structural design codes for a disaster-resistant plastic greenhouse have been revised over the last few decades. In particular, the revised code draft in 2017 have changed in many ways compared to the 1995 code. Nevertheless, There is no study of the effect of new design code on plastic greenhouse. Therefore, this study evaluated the safety of plastic greenhouse against wind load according to 1995 and 2017 codes for type 1 houses, which is most commonly built in Jeju, through comparing the analytical results of plastic greenhouses designed by 1995 code and 2017 code draft. The results are as follows. (1) The uplift load due to the negative pressure on the roof of the plastic greenhouse increased significantly in 2017 code draft. (2) Since the existing members could not meet the design requirements, the rafters had to be replaced with members of the same cross-section as the columns. (3) Due to excessive lifting, measures were also needed to prevent lifting at the foundation of the plastic greenhouse.

Air-coupled ultrasonic tomography of solids: 2 Application to concrete elements

  • Applications of ultrasonic tomography to concrete structures have been reported for many years. However, practical and effective application of this tool for nondestructive assessment of internal concrete condition is hampered by time consuming transducer coupling that limits the amount of ultrasonic data that can be collected. This research aims to deploy recent developments in air-coupled ultrasonic measurements of solids, described in Part 1 of this paper set, to concrete in order to image internal inclusions. Ultrasonic signals are collected from concrete samples using a fully air-coupled (contactless) test configuration. These air coupled data are compared to those collected using partial semi-contact and full-contact test configurations. Two samples are considered: a 150 mm diameter cylinder with an internal circular void and a prism with $300mm{\times}300mm$ square cross-section that contains internal damaged regions and embedded reinforcement. The heterogeneous nature of concrete material structure complicates the application and interpretation of ultrasonic measurements and imaging. Volumetric inclusions within the concrete specimens are identified in the constructed velocity tomograms, but wave scattering at internal interfaces of the concrete disrupts the images. This disruption reduces defect detection accuracy as compared with tomograms built up of data collected from homogeneous solid samples (PVC) that are described in Part 1 of this paper set. Semi-contact measurements provide some improvement in accuracy through higher signal-to-noise ratio while still allowing for reasonably rapid data collection.

Development of automatic system for evaluating the stress redistribution in structural members of a steel cable-stayed bridge due to cable stress relaxation

  • In this study, a graphical automatic system is developed in order to investigate the stress redistribution of structural members in a steel cable-stayed bridge. The generalized Maxwell model is selected for stress relaxation estimation, and it is carefully verified and applied to all the cable members of a steel cable-stayed bridge to investigate its stress relaxation. A set of stress relaxation parameters in all cables is determined using the fmincon optimization function. The stress redistribution of the steel cable-stayed bridge is then analyzed using ABAQUS. To shorten the investigation time, all the aforementioned phases are built up to be an automatic system. The automatic system is then employed to investigate the effect of cable cross-section areas and girder spans on stress redistribution. The findings from these studies show that the initial tension in the cables of a steel cable-stayed bridge should be kept to less than 55% of the cable's ultimate strength to reduce the effect of cable stress relaxation. The cable space in a steel cable-stayed bridge should be limited to 15,000 mm to minimize the effect of cable stress relaxation. In comparison to other structural members of a steel cable-stayed bridge, the girders experience a significant stress redistribution.

내화성능 개선을 위한 강섬유 보강 내부 앵커형 각형강관 합성기둥의 실험연구 (An Experimental Study of Improving Fire Performance with Steel-fibers for Internally Anchored Square Composite Columns)

  • 본 연구에서는 해결방안으로 내부 콘크리트를 강섬유와 혼입하여 기둥자체의 연성과 인성을 증대시키는 것에 중점을 맞추고 있다. 즉, 강섬유 혼입량과 하중조건에 따른 내력 및 변형능력을 종합적으로 파악하여 강섬유 콘크리트와 용접조립각형 강관기둥의 상호작용을 구조, 내화측면에서 분석해 보고자 한다. 동일한 형상과 경계조건(하중비)에서 강섬유 혼입(0.375%)으로 내화성능은 약 1.1~1.3배 향상된 실험결과를 얻을 수 있었다. 강섬유 콘크리트의 균열 억제 특성은 열 하중에 의한 콘크리트의 변형저항 성능을 증가 시키면서 내화성능의 향상을 가져온 것으로 판단된다. 또한, 내부 리브의 열 변형에도 내부 콘크리트 단면은 건전한 상태로 남아있어 하중 분담능력이 증폭된 결과로 분석됐다.

Study on the flexural behavior of corroded built-up cold-formed thin-walled steel beams

  • Eight cold-formed thin-walled steel beams were performed to investigate the effect of corrosion damage on the flexural behavior of steel beams. The relationships between failure modes or load-displacement curves and corrosion degree of steel beams were investigated. A series of parametric analysis with more than forty finite element models were also performed with different corrosion degrees, types and locations. The results showed that the reduction of cross-section thickness as well as corrosion pits on the surface would lead to a decline in the stiffness and flexural capacity of steel beams, and gradually intensified with the corrosion degree. The yield load, ultimate load and critical buckling load of the corroded specimen IV-B46-4 decreased by 22.2%, 26% and 45%, respectively. The failure modes of steel beams changed from strength failure to stability failure or brittle fracture with the corrosion degree increasing. In addition, thickness damage and corrosion pits at different locations caused the degradation of flexural capacity, the worst of which was the thickness damage of compression zone. Finally, the method for calculating flexural capacity of corroded cold-formed thin-walled steel beams was also proposed based on experimental investigation and numerical analysis results.

배추흰나비 (Pieris rapae L.)의 미세구조(微細構造)에 관한 연구(硏究) I . 배관(背管)의 미세구조(微細構造) (Ultrastructural Studies on the Cabbage Butterfly, Pieris rapae L. I . Fine Structure on the Dorsal Vessel)

  • The ultrastructure on the dorsal vessel of 5-day-old cabbage butterfly, Pieris rapae L., was carried out using the transmission and scanning electron microscope. The results are as follows. 1) The aorta. The aorta is simple tubular type and consists of the inner and outer membrane of the myocardium and thick myocardium is located between them. However the inner membrane with $0.26{\mu}m$ thickness and outer membrane with $0.08{\mu}m$ are composed of fibrous materials, the former is composed of low and high densed fibrous materials and the latter appears homogeneous layer. The myocardium consists of typical striated muscles. The sarcomere with $1.6{\mu}m$ length and in cross section, each thick filaments are surrounded by $7{\sim}8$ thin filaments. The intercalated disc is joining the end of the two muscle cells, desmosomes and septate junctions are appeared between the neighboring muscle cells. 2) The heart. The heart composing of myocardium enclosed by its inner and outer membrane as the aorta has a series of well formed segmental chamber. The arrangement of myofilaments, cell adhensions and membrane elements are observed as same as at the aorta. The inner membrane of the heart is deeply invaginated into the myocardium than the outer membrane and a lot of well developed mitochondria with rod shape are aggregated in the folds. The longitudinally and transversely oriented tubule system formed by invagnation of the sarcolemma into the muscle bundle is built up dyad with the sarcoplasmic reticulum as the aorta. The slit is formed by deeply invagination of the inner membrane of myocadium toward the muscle layer and then the inner and outer membrane of myocardium are fused. Therefore, the ostium is formed between the myocardium and situated at the lateral side of the myocardium.

Structural monitoring and analyses on the stability and health of a damaged railway tunnel

  • In this paper, a study of stability and health of a newly-built railway tunnel is presented. The field test was implemented to monitor the secondary lining due to the significant cracking behaviors influenced the stability and health of the tunnel structure. Surface strain gauges were installed for monitoring the status of crack openings, and the monitoring outputs demonstrated that the cracks were still in the developing stage. Additionally, adjacent tunnel and poor condition of surrounding rock were identified as the causes of the lining cracking by systematically characterizing the crack spatial distribution, tunnel site and surrounding rock conditions. Reconstruction of partial lining and reconstruction of the whole secondary lining were designed as the maintenance projects for different cracking regions based on the construction feasibility. For assessing the health conditions of the reinforced lining, embedded strain gauges were set up to continuously measure the strain and the internal force of the reconstructed structures. For the partially reconstructed lining, the outputs show the maximum tensile elongation is 0.018 mm during 227 days, which means the structure has no obvious deformation after maintenance. The one-year monitoring of full-section was implemented in the other two completely reconstructed cross-sections by embedded strain gauge. The outputs show the reconstructed secondary lining has undertaken the pressure of surrounding rock with the time passing. According to the calculated compressive and tensile safety factors, the completely reconstructed lining has been in reliable and safe condition during the past year after reinforcement. It can conclude that the aforementioned maintenance projects can effectively ensure the stability and health of this tunnel.

사인형 주름웨브보의 이산화 최적구조설계 (Discrete Optimum Design of Sinusoidal Corrugated Web Girder)

  • 박스형 거더나 박공형 철골조 프레임에서 주름웨브보의 사용은 최근 많이 늘어가고 있다. 그 이유는 얇은 주름웨브보를 사용함으로서 압연형강이나 용접을 이용한 조립보에 비해 중량을 크게 줄일 수 있으며, 박판의 좌굴은 주름이 막아줄 수 있기 때문이다. 자동생산기술의 향상으로 인해 주름웨브를 가진 단위 부재를 양산할 수 있게 되어 적용분야가 확장되고 있으며, 주름웨브보의 부재 제원을 고려한 최적설계의 구현이 필요하게 된다. 이를 위해 본 논문에서는 주름웨브보의 생산부재 데이터를 고려한 이산화 최적구조설계 프로그램을 개발하여 집중하중과 등분포하중을 받는 주름웨브 단순보에 대해 적용하였다. 최소중량을 목적함수로, 세장비, 응력 및 처짐을 제약조건으로 채택하고, 전역최소값을 탐색하기 위해서 유전자 알고리즘을 채택하였으며, 생산부재의 번호를 불연속설계변수로 이용하였다. 최종적으로 해석설계의 검증을 위해서 이산화 최적설계 결과를 연속일 때의 결과와 비교하였으며, 최적단면 특성에 대해 분석하였다.

낙엽송 소경각재의 종접합 성능평가 (Longitudinal Bonding Strength Performance Evaluation of Larch Lumber)

  • 소경각재를 이용한 소경각재 적층목을 기둥-보 목조건축 구조재로 이용하기 위해선 장대재 제작이 가능하여야 한다. 본 연구에서는 낙엽송 소경각재의 종접합 성능평가를 실시하였다. 시험편들은 종접합 방법에 따라 6가지 형상으로 제작하였으며 인장 및 휨 강도시험으로 종접합성능을 검토하였다. 종접합 접합부의 인장시험에서 Lap 시험편의 인장강도는 Double Lap 시험편보다 양호하였으며, Scarf 시험편의 인장강도는 Hooked scarf 시험편보다 양호하였다. Rod 시험편의 인장강도는 3.6 MPa로 가장 양호하였다. 종접합 접합부의 휨 시험결과 봉형 GFRP를 삽입 접착한 시험편들은 평균 29 MPa의 휨 파괴계수가 측정되었으며, 타 접합부 시험편들은 11 MPa 이하의 휨 파괴계수 값이 관찰되었다. 봉형 GFRP (Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastic)를 삽입 접착한 시험편들은 인성파괴가 관찰되었고 나머지 시험편들은 취성파괴가 발생하였다. Rod + Lap 시험편의 평균 휨 파괴계수가 30.5 MPa로 종접합한 시험편 중 가장 양호한 성능을 발휘하였다. Rod + Lap 시험편의 휨 강도는 종접합하지 않은 대조군 시험편 휨 파괴계수의 66%에 해당되었다. 낙엽송 소경각재 종접합 방법으로 봉형 GFRP 삽입 접착이 가장 유효한 강도를 나타내는 것을 확인하였다.

활하중에 대한 복층터널 슬래브의 구조적 안전성에 관한 연구 (A study on the structural safety of middle slab in double deck tunnel under live loads)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 대심도 복층터널 Test Bed 구조물에 대한 슬래브의 사전 구조안전성 평가를 통해 슬래브의 가설시와 공용하중 작용시에 발생 가능한 문제점과 개선점을 미리 분석하는 것이다. 대심도 복층터널의 설계 및 시공기술개발의 성과물을 Test Bed 구축을 과정을 통해 검증하고 확인할 수 있으며, 엔지니어 및 일반인들의 학습현장으로도 활용할 수 있어 지하공간 개발의 시기를 더욱 앞당길 수 있는 계기가 마련될 것이다. 특히, 원형의 대심도 복층터널 단면 내부에 구축되는 슬래브는 시공방법과 사용하는 시공장비에 따라 설계하중이 달라지며, 이번 Test Bed 구조체는 그 내부에 상부 슬래브 및 풍도슬래브를 전용 가설장비를 이용하여 설치하는 동안 가설장비하중과 상·하부 슬래브에 공용하중으로 가정된 KL-510의 3등급 트럭하중을 하중조합별 작용위치를 달리하며 상·하부 슬래브에 각각 재하하여 그 영향을 분석하였다.
