Connectivity effects have been central issues in dealing with specificational pseudoclefts. While syntactic approaches motivate their analysis in order to explain connectivity effects in terms of a connected clause, these accounts have numerous problems including a wide range of anti-connectivity effects that constitute crucial counterevidence. On the other hand, semantic accounts of connectivity effects treat BV and BT connectivity by independent interpretive mechanisms providing a more fundamental explanation for connectivity effects. Yet existing semantic accounts have limitations in explaining syntactic properties and syntactic connectivity effects in SPCs, and in accounting for BV anti-connectivity effects in English. Focusing on BV connectivity, this paper explores how the relevant (anti-)connectivity facts can be accounted for by an analysis that provides both an elaborate syntactic analysis of SPCs and a semantic mechanism for bound anaphora. Based on Yoo's (2005) non-deletion based, question-answer pair analysis of SPCs, this paper shows that a functional question analysis of a specificational subject, when combined with a theory of operator scope and a non-configurational condition on bound anaphora, can explain various BV (anti-)connectivity patterns in SPCs and related constructions.
Since toxic Alexandrium catenella and non-toxic A. fraterculus are morphologically similar, they are difficult to discriminate under the light microscope. However, a novel technology, such as fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC)-conjugated lectin probes enables easy and rapid differentiation. Toxic A. catenella bound seven different lectins, whereas the non-toxic A. fratercuzus did not bind Arachis hypogaea (PNA) lectin. In addition, Pseudo-nitrschia species in this study were also difficult to identify to species level with light microscope techniques, but it was possible to classify them using fluorescent lectins. Pseudo-nitzschia multistriata, P. subfraudulenta and P. pungens bound Canavalia ensiformis (ConA), whereas P. subpaclfica did not, and P. pungens also bound Ricinus communis (RCA). These results imply that lectin could be used as a critical tool in the differentiation of P. multistriata, P. subfraudulenta and P. pungens. However, P. subpacifica was not differentiated by the lectins tested. Therefore, it isconcluded that lectin probes are useful for discriminating toxic A. catenella from non-toxic A. fraterculus, and for the identification of some Pseudo-nitzschia species. In addition, this method has a great potential to speed and detection between non-toxic and toxic harmful algal blooms (HABs) in Korean biotoxin monitoring systems.
This paper estimated the value of waterside landscape and ecosystem of Han River basin with a double-bound dichotomous choice type of CVM. We used the exponential willingness to pay model to represent the nonnegative willingness to pay. This model is found to be especially important in analyzing a double-bound dichotomous choice model. The total willingness to pay was estimated as 705.5 billion won per annum. This suggests that current budget size for water quality and ecosystem conservation for Han River needs to be expanded.

This paper investigates the performance of an amplify-and-forward (AF) two-way relaying system with antenna correlation. The system consists of two multiple-antenna sources, which exchange information via the aid of a single-antenna relay. In particular, we derive the exact outage probability expression. Furthermore, we provide a simple, tight closed-form lower bound for the outage probability. Based on the lower bound, we obtain the closed-form asymptotic outage probability and the average symbol error rate expressions at high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), which reveal the system's diversity order and coding gain with antenna correlation. To investigate the system's throughput performance with antenna correlation, we also derive a closed-form lower bound for the average sum-rate, which is quite tight from medium to high SNR regime. The analytical results readily enable us to obtain insight into the effect of antenna correlation on the system's performance. Extensive Monte Carlo simulations are conducted to verify the analytical results.

We propose a hybrid prefix caching scheme to enable high speed IP address lookup. All prefixes loaded in a prefix cache should not be overlapped in address range for correct IP lookup. So, every non-leaf prefix needs to be expanded not so as to be overlapped. The shorter expanded prefix is more preferable because it can cover wider address range just as an single entry in a prefix cache. We exploits advantages of two dynamic prefix expansion techniques, bounded prefix expansion technique and bitmap-based prefix expansion technique. The proposed scheme uses dual bound values whereas just one bound value is used in bounded prefix expansion. Our elaborated technique make the dual bound values be associated with several subtries flexibly using bitmap information, rather than with fixed subtries. We evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme in terms of the average length of the expanded prefixes and cache miss ratio. The experiment results show the proposed scheme has lower cache miss ratio than other previous schemes including both bounded prefix expansion and bitmap-based expansion irrespective of the cache size.
The exciton emission spectra of CdS single crystals excited by electrons were measured at 80$^{\circ}$K as a function o: the wave length. The measured dissociation energy of exciton bound to neutral donor was 2.0 meV, compared to the corresponding theoretical value of 2.4 to 3.2 meV. An exciton bound to neutral donor and a longitudinal optical (LO) phonon may not interact, but a free exciton dissociated from a neutral donor and a LO phonon is expected to interact each other. Therefore the origin of the spectra consisting of interaction term was located at the spectrum consisting of a free exciton dissociated from a neutral donor (I$_2$d). From the analysis of the spectra the LO phonon energy of CdS was found to be 40.5 meV.

X-ray diffraction studies have been made to investigate the effects of binding of ADP, ADP+Vi, ADP+AIF4, $ADP+BeF_3$ on the structure of glycerinated rabbit skeletal muscle in the rigor state. Although these phosphate analogs are known to bind actively cycling myosin heads, it is not clear whether they can bind to the attached heads in the rigor muscle. We have found that these analogs can bind to the myosin heads attached to actin filaments in the rigor state. The present results indicate that (1) bound myosin heads altered their conformation in the proximal end toward the plane perpendicular to the fiber axis when MgADP bound to them, and (2) myosin heads were dissociated substantially (up to 50%) from actin filaments but still remained in the vicinity of actin filaments when MgADP and metallofluorides (AIF4 and BeF3) or vanadate bound to them. We detected new conformations of myosin heads attached to actin filaments when they had MgADP or ADP.Pi analogs. We report here these findings on the effects of MgADP and MgADP+phosphate analogs to the rigor crossbridges.
Optimum conditions for hydrolysis were investigated to enhance water-solubilities of protein-bound polysaccharides in the basidiocarps of Ganoderma lucidum by treating chymotrypsin. We also attempted with Ganoderma lucidum residue remaining after extracting hot water-soluble compoents in Ganoderma lucidum. After hydrolyzing under optimum conditions (20 ppm chymotrypsin, 2% Gampderma lucidum or 6% Ganoderma lucidum residue, at pH 10 and at $ 40^{\circ}C$), the amounts of total protein and carbohydrate of hydrolysate were measured. Michaelis constant, $K_{m}$, and maximum rate, $V_{max}$, calculated by Lineweaver-Buck plot for the hydrolysis of Ganoderma lucidum were 1.73% and 0.073%/min respectively and those for hydrolysis of Ganoderma lucidum residue were 2.40% and 0.033%/min respectively. The amount of polysaccharide isolated from Ganoderma lucidum (100 g) treated with chymotrypsin was only 3.07 g, but significantly increased amount (14.34 g) of polysaccharides was isolated from Ganoderma lucidum residue (100 g) treated with chymotrypsin. The protein-bound polysaccharide was isolated from the non-hydrolyzed and hydrolyzed sample and molecular weights of the polysaccharide were measured by Sepharose CL-48 gel filtration.
In this paper, we consider a source node that operates over a time varying channel with energy harvesting capability. The goal of the source is to maximize the average number of successfully delivered packets per time slot. The source is able to choose whether to transmit a packet or defer the transmission in each time slot. The decision which is chosen by the source depends on the channel information available and the length of the energy queue. We formulate the problem of finding the optimal policy as a Markovian decision problem. We show some properties of the value function that represents the discounted number of successfully delivered packets per time slot. We prove that the optimal policy is a threshold type policy depending on the state of the channel and the length of the energy queue. We also derive an upper bound for the average number of packets per time slots successfully received by the destination. We show using numerical results that this bound is a tight bound on the performance of the optimal policy. And we consider the case of time varying channel but without channel state information (CSI). Then, we study the impact of channel time varying nature and the availability of CSI. In this case, we show that the optimal policy is a greedy policy. The performance of this greedy policy is also calculated.
When wireless channels undergo fast fading, non-coherent frequency shift keying (FSK) (de)modulation schemes may be considered for amplify-and-forward (AF) cooperative communications. In this paper, we derive the bit-error-rate performance of partial non-coherent receiver as a lower bound of the optimal non-coherent receiver for FSK modulated AF cooperative communications. From the simulation and analytical results, it is found that the derived lower bound is very closed to simulation results. This result shows that knowing partial channel state information may not improve system performance significantly. On the other hand, conventional optimal non-coherent receiver involves complicated integration operation. To address the above complexity issue, we also propose a near optimal non-coherent receiver which does not involve integration operation. Simulation results have shown that the performance gap between the proposed near optimal receiver and the optimal receiver is small.
