According to the SWOT analysis of competitive power of medical device industry in Gangwon area, the strength is the abundant expert manpower of the medical device in Wonju area. The weakness is the fragility of the brand recognition of the medical device industry. The opportunity is the demand increase of the new medical device owing to the advanced age of population. The threat is the difficulty of entry into overseas market owing to the request of the new specification certification of the medical device. In order to strengthen the export competitive power of the medical device industry in Gangwon area, the following measures should be taken by the government, local self-government body, related organization and medical device industry : the development of new technology and design, the enhancement of brand recognition. the acquisition of the foreign specification certification, the building of overseas distribution channel and after sales service channel, the positive participation in overseas medical device exhibition and opening of medical device exhibition, the training of expert manpower, the strengthening of overseas marketing, and the application of FTA and the establishment of counter measures against FTA. In conclusion, the medical device industry in Gangwon area has the difficulty in the entry into the overseas market owing to the shortage of overseas marketing capability. Therefore, the government and local self-government body should make the intensive and systematical support for overseas marketing of the medical device industry. For the support of overseas marketing, the government and local self-government body should provide positively the support of expenses for the acquisition of foreign specification certification, the support of participation in the overseas medical device exhibition, the despatch of market development mission, the increase of the support amount for R&D investment fund, and the training of expert manpower of medical devices.

  • A new IBC(Island Body Contact) structure is introduced to SOI CMOS VLSI for stabilizing the body potential of the MOSFET without the additional area consumption. The improvement of the body contact effect is achieved by reducing the body resistance and the area is saved as the bodies of the MOSFETs are connected together. Its property as VLSI device is confirmed through the device simulations and the measurement.

  • In this study, a half-duplex mutual communication device via human skin was developed. Frequency-shift keying (FSK) digital modulation and demodulation control were used to transmit and receive data. Data communication through the human body is an effective communication technique and has high-grade security characteristics. In addition, making contact is a natural instinct of humans. Transmitting data through the human body is currently a highly conspicuous technology, because recently a lot of commercial sensors for humans have been developed. A body area network (BAN) can be easily constructed by this communication method on human skin. In this study, a half-duplex FSK mutual communication device was developed using a commercial FSK modulator and demodulator. A special control switching circuit and communication sequence were developed for mutual communication through human skin.

  • Inbody is a tool for measuring health information with high reliability and accuracy to analyze body composition. Unlike the existing method of storing/processing and outputting data on the server side, the health information generated by InBody requires accurate support for health sharing and data analysis services using mobile devices. However, in the process of transmitting body composition measurement information to a mobile service, a problem may occur in data transmission/reception processing. The reason for this is that, since the network network in the cloud environment is used, if the connection is cut off or the connection is changed, it is necessary to provide a global service, not a temporary area, focusing on the mobility of InBody information. In addition, since InBody information is transmitted to mobile devices, a standard schema should be defined in the mobile cloud environment to enable information transfer between standardized InBody data and mobile devices. We propose a mobile cloud system using EMRA(Extended Metadata Registry Access) in which a mobile device processes and transmits body data generated in the inbody and manages the data of each local organization with a standard schema. The proposed system processes the data generated in InBody and converts it into a standard schema using EMRA so that standardized data can be transmitted. In addition, even when the mobile device moves through the area, the coordinator subsystem is in charge of providing access services. In addition, EMRA is applied to the collision problem due to schema heterogeneity occurring in the process of accessing data generated in InBody.

  • The WBAN technology means a short distance wireless network which provides each device's interactive communication by connecting devices inside and outside of body located within 3 meters. Standardization on the physical layer, data link layer, network layer and application layer is in progress by IEEE 802.15.6 TG BAN. It is necessary to develop the WBAN core technology that sensor node device, WBAN middleware and WBAN application service for WBAN environment. In this paper we designed the medical message structure and implemented medical application for purpose of vital information reliability. The message structure was proposed for WBAN environment and application can be check biometric information from BN on smart device through WBAN gateway.

  • E-health services have provided interoperability between personal health devices in personal area network, based the ISO/IEEE 11073 standard. In the healthcare system, the manager handles most agents concurrently through wireless communication. However, due to the distance limitation and the increased number of agents, it may be difficult to provide continuous connectivity. Recently, body area devices have been equipped with various applicable agents, which can even handle agents on behalf of the manager. A BAD may act as an intermediary device to increase system efficiency and performance. In this study, a device called "proxy", which can be installed as software on BAD devices, is proposed. The data measured by an agent can be sent to the proxy first, and subsequently be sent to the manager again. Agents and the manager are not aware of the proxy existence and work normally without the proxy. Furthermore, a new smart proxy and modified manager are proposed. The smart proxy acts as one agent handling measurement data from several agents, which can transmit a significant amount of data at once. The proxy and smart proxy maintain compatibility with existing devices that conform to the 20601 standard. The proposed schemes are verified and the complexities of devices are analyzed. The analysis shows no significant difference among the proxy, smart proxy, and manager. Simulations exhibit that the proposed schemes can improve the system performance.

  • The fusion technology of small sensor and wireless communication was followed by various application examples of the embedded system, where the social infrastructural facilities and ecological environment were wirelessly monitored. In addition, this technology represents the primary application area being extended into the healthcare field. In this study, a body area network for ubiquitous healthcare is presented. More specifically this represents a wireless biomedical signal acquisition device characterized by small size, low power consumption, pre-processing and archiving capability. Using this device, a new method for monitoring vital signs and activity is created. A PDA-based wireless sensor network enables patients to be monitored during their daily living, without any constraints. Therefore, the proposed method can be used to develop Activities of Daily Living (ADL) monitoring devices for the elderly or movement impaired people. A medical center would be able to remotely monitor the current state of elderly people and support first-aid in emergency cases. In addition, this method will reduce medical costs in society, where the average life expectancy is increasing.

  • Our research is for development of smart object in WBAN environment. Too many smart object in various computing device were developed, but users always attention to their lot of smart objects and any personal things now. So we need smart object that classification and management all of user's personal devices and any effects in invisible and seamless system. We discussed how develop do that object in WBAN(Wireless Body Area Network) system and how make components in this system to wireless network in this paper.

  • The data generated by the BSN sensor attached to the human body is mostly mobile. Accordingly, in a mobile cloud environment that processes BSN data, the service should not be fixed in a specific area but be able to support it according to the move. The mobile device must be able to process, filter and transmit the collected BSN data. The cloud server must be able to collect the data processed by the mobile device and provide it as a service. And the transfer of data requires standardized transfer between each device. In this paper, we propose a data delivery method through standard schema when mobile device processes data and provides service in cloud system and a data processing method according to the movement of the mobile device.

  • Last few years, wireless personal area network (WPAN) has been widely researched for various healthcare applications. Due to restriction of device hardware (e.g., energy and memory), we need to design a highly-versatile MAC layer protocol for WBAN (Wireless Body Area Network). In addition, when an emergency occurs to a patient, a priority mechanism is necessitated for a urgent message to get through to the final destination. This paper presents a priority mechanism referred to as hybrid priority MAC for WBAN. Through extensive simulation, we show the proposed MAC protocol can minimize the average packet latency for urgent data. Thus, when patients have an emergency situation, our MAC allows adequate assistance time and medical treatment for patients. The simulation based on NS-2 shows that our Hybrid Priority MAC has the good performance and usability.
