Objectives : This report describes 241 prescriptions related to the use of Gardenia Fructus blended prescriptions from Dongeuibogam. Methods : The following conclusions were reached through investigations on the prescriptions that use Gardeniae Fructus. Results : The Gardeniae Fructus is used in 49 fields of treatment such as urinary diseases, jaundice and furuncle, etc. Prescriptions that utilize Gardeniae Fructus are used in the treatment of fever, eye disease, hemorrhage, skin disease, ear disease, internal disease and so on. In the view of the causative agent of a disease, the prescriptions which are compounded with Gardeniae Fructus are related to endogenous agents such as jaundice, seven emotion, alcohol, exogenous agents such as cold, wind, heat and non-endo-exopathogenic factors like disease due to external factor, injury. The dosage of Gardeniae Fructus is 1pun(about 0.375) to 5don 5pun(about 21g), however 5pun(about 1.87g)~1don(about 3.75g) has been taken the most for clinical application. Conclusions : Hwangryunhaedok-tang is the most base prescriptions which use the Gardenia Fructus. Gardeniae Fructus is mainly used as a raw material.

This report was studied 72 cases studies related to the use of Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae Virdie mainly blended prescriptions from Dongeuibogam. The following conclusion were reached through investigations on the prescriptions that use Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae Virdie as a key ingredient. Prescriptions that Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae Virdie was taken as a monarch drug are utilized for 25 therapeutic purposes, for example, abdominal mass, children disease, malaria and abdominal dropsy. In particular, 13.9% of prescriptions appear in the chapter of abdominal mass, and 12.5% of those appear in the chapter of children. Prescriptions that utilize Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae Virdie as the main ingredient are used in the treatment of abdominal mass, abdominal dropsy, scrotal hernia and malaria. Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae Virdie is used in pathogenic factors such as cold and used in pathology related to the spleen system. The dosage of Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae Virdie is 1bun(about 0.375 gram) to 4jeon(about 15 gram), however 5bun(about 1.875 gram) to 8bun(about 3 gram) has been taken the most for clinical application. Yukmisamleunghwan and Hyungbongjeonwon are the most useful base prescriptions which use the Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae Virdie as the main ingredient.

In the Encyclopedia Medica Koreana(Dongeuibogam), I have researched 245 prescriptions in which Panax Ginseng plays an important role. And I have got the following results. The healing scope and frequency of ginseng-mainly-included prescriptions are Child Part 29(11.83%), Violent Cough Part 23(9.38%), Sick-by-Cold Part 21(8.57%), Oncosis Part 16(6.53%), Overwork Part 14(5.71%), Gynecologic Part 14(5.71%), Internal Part 13(5.3%), Apoplexy Part 11(4.48%), Mind Part 10(4.08%) and Fecal Part 10(4.08%) prescriptions. And also each of Nausea Part, Anger Part, and Spirit parts has the same 5 (2.04%) prescriptions. And each of Qi Part, Diabetes Meatus Part, Malaria Part, and Humoral Part has 4(1.63%) prescriptions. And each of Foot Part, Choleraic Part, Genital Part, Blood Part, and Voice Part has 3 (1.2%). All of these prescriptions cover 88.88%. And besides listed parts above, Panax Ginseng is all used in 48 Parts: Body-Mind Part. Mouth-Tongue Part, Breast Part, Muscle Part, Swelling Part, Urine Part, Epidermis Part, Heat Part, Anus Part, Stomach Part, Eye Part, Laryngopharynx Part. Uterus Part" Heavy Stomach Part, Head Part, Pulse Part, Hair Part, Navel Part, Emetic Part, Costal Part, Edema Part, Vomiting Part, Superstitious Part, and Cardiac Part, etc. Of the prescriptions in which Panax Ginseng plays an important role, the most representative diseases, which more than 86.8% prescriptions cure, are shock, numbness from cold, Taeeum disease, oncosis, overwork, sick from eating, numbness of extremities, diarrhea, tachycardia, forgetfulness, nausea, heat from kidney, nocturnal emission, short breath, diabetes meatus, malaria, sweating, sweating overnight, beriberi, cholera, insomnia from enervation, sialitis, navel pain, hemorrhage, and loss of voice. The pathology of the prescriptions in which Panax Ginseng plays an important role is divided into the organ problems, six natural factors, seven extreme feelings, unbalanced humoral status, overwork, and, unbalance of qi and blood. Spleen, heart, and uterus is the main cause of organ problems; wind and cold are the main cause of six natural factors; heavy humors are the main cause of unbalanced humoral status; the stasis of seven feelings are the main cause of seven extreme feelings; the lack of stamina and overwork are the main cause of the overwork; the lack of qi, the lack of blood, and, the lack of qi and blood are the main cause of the unbalance of qi and blood. After I have researched the contents of the prescriptions in which Panax Ginseng plays an important role, I could understand the addition of the different prescriptions, combination of medicines, and the role of medicine groups associated with Panax Ginseng. So from now on, the results I have got could be used as the data which show the theoretical basis on the prescriptions.

Through investigation on prescriptions from Dongeuibogam with Radix Puerariae as an ingredient, the following conclusions were reached. The 59 prescriptions with Radix Puerariae as an ingredient are mentioned from chapter of Pediatrics to chapter of Intestinal Convulsions. And 85% of those appears from chapter of Pediatrics to chapter of coughs. Prescriptions with Radix Puerariae as the main ingredient are used for skin diseases, cold, epidemics, abscess, diabetes, stroke, feverish diseases, intestinal diseases, weakness and cough. The dosage of Radix Puerariae varies from 0.875g to 11.25g. 3.75g was the most frequently used dosage which accounts 44%. And those with small dosage of 0.875 to 1.125g were for use on infants or pregnant women. The grounding pathology used for prescriptions with Radix Puerariae as an ingredient appeared to be mostly the pathology related to the Six External Qi. Among this, wind with cold(風寒), wind, cold with heat and humidity(風寒署濕), catching cold(傷寒), successively catching cold(兩感傷寒), cold of the Yangmyung and heat clogging(陽明傷寒火鬱), abnormal weather(時令不正) are the majority. Through the prescriptions with Radix Puerariae as an ingredient, it could be concluded Radix Puerariae that has various functions such as sweating and removing rash(發表透疹), exhalation and curing muscular ache(發散解肌), producing body fluid and ceasing thirst(生津止渴), opening abscess and healing the scar(托瘡生肌), removal of fever(解熱), resolving hangover(醒酒). Seungmagalguntang(升麻葛根湯) is used as the base prescription the most, and various prescriptions and herbs are combined according to the case.

The purpose of this study is to find out effects of prescriptions according to the formula, manipulation of Rhei Rhizoma, configuration. The following results were reached through investigations on the prescriptions using Rhei Rhizoma as a main component. Objectives : Analysis of prescriptions According to the formula : Liquid Extract Prescriptions were used widely on three parts to treat fever and damp heat in the interior organs. Powder Prescriptions were taken with hot water, thin porridge, tea etc. to treat damp heat, congestion of phlegm, acute episodes. Liquid Mixed Pill treat congestion of QI, damp heat, phlegm. Honey Mixed Pill treat accumulated fever, distension, acute excessive fever. Paste Pill treat blood stagnation, excessive toxic-fever, epidemic diseases. External Application treat inflammation by injury, swelling due to severe fever by internal damage. Methods : Analysis of prescriptions According to the manipulation of Rhei Rhizoma : Prescriptions including Liquor processed Rhei Rhizoma treat excessive toxic-fever, congestion of phlegm, blocking orifices on the upper side. Steamed Rhei Rhizoma strengthen effects of making evacuate and cooling of heat. Processed Rhei Rhizoma with vinegar strengthen effects of removing blood stagnation by activating blood movement, releasing gathering. Results : Analysis of prescriptions According to the Composition of Rhei Rhizoma : 41% of the total prescriptions were on the area of less than 20%. In case of lower groups show increased frequency of combination with Pharbitidis Semen, Persicae Semen, Scutellariae Radix and manipulation of baking, steaming, roasting. In case of higher groups show increased frequency of treating excess syndrome, critical illness, acute severe illness, and using proccesed Rhei Rhizoma with vinegar. Treatment of damp heat on the liver and gallbladder, disorder of the spleen and stomach is done mostly by prescriptions on the area of less than 30%. Conclusions : Rhei Rhizoma-Coptidis Rhizoma pair treat damp heat, heat toxins in blood, and Constipation caused by excessive heat. Rhei Rhizoma-Glycyrrhizae Radix pair relieve effects of Rhei Rhizoma passing blocked feces, removing the poison, activating blood movement, releasing gathering with the effects of Glycyrrhizae Radix relaxing tension by harmonizing Middle. Rhei Rhizoma-Magnoliae Cortex pair are used to treat damp heat in middle area, excessive heat in the stomach and intestine. Rhei Rhizoma-Pharbitidis Semen pair act on both blood system and QI system treating edema, damp, stagnation, heat toxins, feces. Rhei Rhizoma-Persicae Semen pair treat blood stagnation with fever on blood system.

In the oriental medicine, the Persicae Semen is a useful material for promoting blood circulation through removement of the extravasated blood in a blood vessel. This study is based on Dongueibogam, which has been widely used for herbal clinic in Korea. And this study is investigated to make sure of the range of Persicae Semen treatment, the nature of disease, the pathology and the dosage of it in Dongueibogam. The following conclusions were reached through investigations on the main prescriptions that used in Dongueibogam as a key ingredient. 1. The prescriptions of blending with the Persicae Semen are utilized in 25 fields of treatments such as feces, uterus, blood diseases, etc. 2. The Persicae Semen is used in the treatment of constipation, removement of blood stasis of gynecology. 3. The average mass of the Persicae Semen is 0.352g, the standard limited range of adding the Persicae Semen to medical prescription is 0.5$\sim$40g or 6$\sim$40pieces per dose. But, in most case of treatment medicines, an typical and regular adding dose is the range of 2$\sim$4g. 4. The Persicae Semen is one of basic materials for a fundamental prescription among several herbal remedies for the pathology.

Objectives : Until now the study of Cnidii Rhizoma, hemorrhage, brain waves, such as ischemic brain injury, analgesic, effect overcome of the stress from pregnancy melanin formation and inhibiting effects skin whitening have been published regarding this article. Cnidii Rhizoma demonstrates its different abilities depending on the characteristics. This paper reported that effect of Cnidii Rhizoma in Dongeuibogam blended prescriptions as main medicine. In addition, by analyzing data, we studied about utilizing of Cnidii Rhizoma. Methods : Cnidii Rhizoma in Dongeuibogam Prescriptions as the main ingredient was built with database of 202 prescriptions. Thus analyzed data was summarized in detail.(Table-1) If there is no difference in the title of the prescription but in other case the configuration information is different, formulations 1 and 2 were divided by the table. Results : The following results were reached through investigations on the prescriptions usikng Cnidii Rhizoma as a key component. 1. Prescriptions taking Cnidii Rhizoma as a monarch drug are utilized for 40 therapeutic purposes. In particular, 12.3% of prescriptions appear in the chapter of head, and 10.8% of those appear in the chapter of women, and 9.4% of eye, 8.9% of child, 6.4% of wind disease respectively. 2. Prescriptions utilizing Cnidii Rhizoma as the main ingredient are used in the treatment of headache, dizziness and pregnancy hemorrhage fetal movement, premature birth and they are also used for treating 131 different types of disease. 3. The dosage of Cnidii Rhizoma in formulas is from 2pun(about 0.75g) to 5don(nearly 18.75g), however 1don(nearly 3.75g) has been taken the most for clinical application. 4. We find out that according to herbs or prescriptions, Cnidii Rhizoma has a variety of functions such as ascending & descending of energy. Samultang is the most useful base prescription which used the Cnidii Rhizoma as the main component. Conclusion : These results suggest that, Cnidii Rhizoma once-amount use (don nearly 3.75g) 4g in head, gynecology, ophthalmology, pediatrics and paralysis disease associated with oriental medicine resource development can be considered to be widely used These results suggest that Cnidii Rhizoma was used most with 1 don(4g) and can be widely used for the resource development to the disease such as brain, gynecology, ophthalmologhy, pediatrics and wind-associated symptoms.

Objectives : The aim of this study is to find the therapeutic meaning of Rhizoma Cyperi in herbal medication. Methodes : In this study, we investigate 85 prescriptions related to the use of Rhizoma Cyperi main blended from Dongeuibogam. we research about field of therapy, symtoms of a disease, the chief virtue of a medicine, the cause of a disease, the pathology of a disease, dosage, contents of composition. Results : The following conclusions were reached through investigations on the prescriptions that use Rhizoma Cyperi as the main ingredient. Prescriptions that Rhizoma Cyperi was taken as a monarch drug are utilized for 24 therapeutic purpose, for example, woman disease, uterine disease, vitality and abdominal mass. In particular, 16.4% of prescriptions appear in the chapter of woman, and 15.2% of those appear in the chapter of uterus. Prescriptions that utilize Rhizoma Cyperi as the main ingredient are used in the treatment of menstrual disorder, pain due to disorder of Gi, infertility, irregular menstruation and abdominal mass. Rhizoma Cyperi is used in pathogenic factors such as seven modes of emotions and used in pathology related to the stagnation of blood system. The dosage of Rhizoma Cyperi is 6li(about 0.23g) to 6don(about 22.5g), however 1don(about 3.75g) has been taken the most for clinical application. Gyogamdan and Yukmisamleunghwan are the most useful base prescriptions which use the Rhizoma Cyperi as the main component. Conclusions : This information provide the rationale for establishing Basic evidance in the oriental medical prescription.

Objectives : This report describes the original references of 154 formulas related to the use of Rhei Rhizoma main blended from Dongeuibogam. Methods : This study analyzes the original references of 154 formulas including Rhei Rhizoma as a key component in Dongeuibogam. Results : There were five types as follows: 1.There is no exact match between 154 formulas in Dongeuibogam and the original formulas in references. 2. Case that could not found the original formula in reference: 22%. 3. Case that the citation is the similar to the original reference: 4%. 4. Case that the citation is not same to expression but contents basically: 73%. 5. Case of addition of content: 1% Conclusions : Most formulas related to the use of Rhei Rhizoma main blended from Dongeuibogam are similar to the contents in the original references. But we can find that Heo Jun, who writes Dongeuibogam, modifies the contents for his intention of editing, idea and situation in Korea.

Purpose: This study was carried out to investigate the effects of Guibi Tang(GT) and Placenta Hominis blended Guibi Tang(GTPH) on the postmenopausal osteoporosis. Methods: In order to observe the potential effects of GT and GTPH on the osteoporosis induced by ovariectomy, antioxidative effects of GT and GTPH were measured. Antioxidative activity for the samples was investigated by Rancimat method. Animals were observed for 8 weeks, and vehicle and extracts of prescriptions were administered ad libitum. And we measured the variance of body weight, femoral bone weight, serum level of osteocalcin, calcium, alkaline phosphatase(ALP), estradiol, cholesterol, triglyceride, alanine aminotransferase(ALT) and creatinine. Results: As a result, GTPH showed antioxidative effect, but did not in GT. Body weight increased significantly in 6 weeks after ovariectomy, and the weight of GTPH administered group decreased significantly. GT and GTPH decreased the serum level of cholesterol and triglyceride. Administration of GTPH increased the serum level of ALP when compared with control group. Ovariectomy and GT, GTPH administration had no influence on serum level of ALT and creatinine. Conclusion: According to above results. We suggest that GT and GTPH may be used prevention and curing the postmenopausal osteoporosis.
