Calanthe striata f. sieboldii Decne. ex Regel is a terrestrial orchid with beautiful flowers arranged in racemose inflorescences. This species is threatened due to over-collection and loss of suitable habitats. Asymbiotic germination is useful in the conservation efforts to re-establish plants in the wild, and for commercial propagation. In this study, we investigate the effects of sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl), three types of culture media (Phytomax Orchid Maintenance - POM, Seed Germination Maintenance - SGM, and Murashige and Skoog 1962 - MS), and plant growth regulators on embryo swelling, protocorm formation, and embryo diameter of C. striata f. sieboldii. Treatment with 1% NaOCl for 30 min greatly enhanced embryo swelling (28.3%), embryo diameter ($205.8{\mu}m$), and embryo protocorm formation (54.8%) compared to seeds without NaOCl treatment (embryo swelling 8.5%, embryo diameter $14.6{\mu}m$, and protocorm formation 13.4%) on POM medium. Protocorm formation on POM medium supplemented with 1.0 mg/L N6-benzyladenine (BA) (95.6%) was better than the control (54.5%). Additionally, the effects of activated charcoal (AC) and sucrose on seedling growth in in vitro culture were examined. The protocorm converted into healthy plants with well-developed shoot primordia on the POM medium with AC and sucrose. The most suitable conditions for seedling growth after 10 weeks of culture were the POM medium with AC or sucrose. These results show effective asymbiotic seed germination and in vitro seedling growth of C. striata f. sieboldii.

The antioxidant activity and cytotoxic effect of an ethanol extract from Seoritae were analyzed to develop new functional food materials. The antioxidant activity of Seoritae was determined by measuring electron donating ability with 1,1-diphenyl-2picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and 2-2'-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) diammonium salt (ABTS) assays, as well as the ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) assay. The cytotoxic effect of the Seoritae ethanol extract was measured with the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-dipheltetrazolium (MTT) and sulforhodamine B (SRB) assays. As a result, the electron donating abilities of Seoritae against the DPPH and ABTS radicals were 63.75% and 87.68% at 500 ${\mu}g$/assay, respectively. The $IC_{50}$ values of Seoritae in the DPPH and ABTS assays were 385.39 ${\mu}g$/assay (128.46 ${\mu}g/mL$) and 209.39 ${\mu}g$/assay (51.83 ${\mu}g/mL$). Additionally, the FRAP value of Seoritae was 0.84 $FeSO_4$ eq. mM at 800 ${\mu}g$/assay. The total amounts of polyphenols and flavonoids, which indicate the antioxidant capability of Seoritae extract were 1.65 mg/g and 0.59 mg/g, respectively. Moreover, Seoritae extract showed a high cytotoxic effect of up to 81% against human cancer cells, particularly A-549 and HeLa cells. The growth inhibition rate of Seoritae extract against A-549 and HeLa cells was up to 76.48% and 75.67% in the MTT assay, and 78.98% and 80.54% in the SRB assay, respectively. The results of this study suggest that an ethanol extract of Seoritae is a potentially good natural antioxidant.

Recently, the search for the whereabout of the huge Bell Imperial-Dragon-Temple becomes a great issue. If it happens to be found out and ringing at the original location of the Bell in Kyungjoo City, the Bell might be a great national treasure and lasting to the eternity with her beautiful sound. The Bell was so huge that the total weight of the raw material put into crucibles was 497,581 Kun (289 tons), the shoulder weight 10.3 Chuk (3.14 m) and the maximum thickness 9 Chon (27.4 cm). The Bell was erected in 754 in Shilla Dynasty and was assumed to be lost during the war time by the 3rd invasion of Mongolians (1235~8). However, the author found out that the huge Bell was recast into a new small Bell (8.1 ton) in 1103 by the people of Koryu Dynasty and then the new small Bell was hung in the same position as in the original huge Bell. 135 years later, the new small Bell was carried out by Mongolian forces as a spoil of war from Kyungjoo to the Bay Tonghaegoo, through the saddle point of Mountain Toham, Yangbuk and Riber Great Bell. At the bay, Mongolian forces wished to bring back the Bell to Mongolia by a ship, but they dropped the Bell into the sea by accident. So, if this was the case, the bell at the seabed may be the new small bell (7.4 ton) but not the original huge Bell (41.0 ton) For the evaluation of missing data of the two bells, the author sets up two equations relating all the dimensions and their weights, which seems to be a useful guide to the design of bells. The results of the evaluation of the Bells are as follows. This case is an analysis of how a late comer to the market of online dating in Korea, Dorsia, successfully develops its services called Amanda. Since 2010, the online dating market in Korea has been fast growing. Despite its short history, many corporations have attempted to make success in the market. But most of them were unable to gain foothold in a market where the first comer had a huge advantage. Amanda, however, has provided differentiated services to great success in a short period. This paper conducted a semi-structured interview with major executives of Dorsia to acquire data which were then used to interpret based on the theories of business management and psychology. This study presents a strategic insight into how competitiveness can be gained in internet-based businesses in the online dating market, as well as those in markets that have similar traits. Moreover, by identifying issues that need to be addressed in order for Amanda to continue its growth, the study seeks to simultaneously review the issues that need resolution related to online commerce, as well as the great potential of online commerce.

Korean traditional culture has a long history and it is rooted in the deep down our national culture. It is like bread and pride for Korean people. The tale of Cheyong is a precious cultural heritage, which has existed in the public awareness of the Korean people since the period of unified Silla. Based on its mysterious and beautiful story, the value of traditional culture can be revealed through development of digital contents. With such precious cultural resource we can digitalize the fun contents which the general public can enjoy. Ways of digitalize of cultural archetype has been suggested by analyzing the content elements of the tale of Cheyong. Also, by making scientific approach to the development process of digitalization, the possibility of digitalization has been found through 3D animation restoration process for Cheyong Dance and the process of making the tale of Cheyong into animation. Through analyzing the contents development process of cultural archetype of the tale of Chetyong, a cultural archetype sourcehas been developed which has a great value as a contents product that can be developed and used as various cultural content art works. With studies on the theory of development method for digitalization of traditional culture, scientific studies and investigation have to be continuously carried out so the digitalization of Korean cultural heritage, which will shine in the world, can be continued as well.

In this study, to find the influencing factors of the cooperation affects the result of the orthodontic treatment, the questionnaires were collected from patients who were being treated with fixed orthodontic appliances at A dental clinic in Seoul area. The results of this study are below.1. The average of the total score of the cooperation was 8.04 with the range of between 2 and 14. 2. The gender and age of the patient did not show the meaningful significance in aspect of the cooperation. 3. The relation between the period of treatment time and the cooperation, the analysis showed that the longer the period of treatment, the lesser the cooperation (P < 0.05). 4. The average of the cooperation by decision maker, the patient himself was 9.17, mother was 7.69 and father was 7.77. This result showed that the treatment decision made by the patient himself, the cooperation was highest (P < 0.05). 5. In the relationship between the malocclusion classification and the cooperation, the Angle Class I was 8.77, Class II was 7.28, and Class III was 6.89. This result showed that the average cooperation of Angle Class I patients was higher than Angle Class III patients (P < 0.05). 6. All the influencing factors to the orthodontic treatment were analyzed by logistic regression analysis (RGA). The result showed that there is meaningful significance in the treatment period and malocclusion classification. The most influencing factor was treatment period and the longer the period, the lesser cooperation (P < 0.05).

Unlike a study related in language alone, rhetorical study of current time, composed with multi-culture, medias, communication, presents its own field that covers from the form of discourse(persuasive) to another form of discourse(not persuasive). If there was a study of making beautiful sentences for story and finding simple method of speech in Greek and roman period of an ancient time, it now a study in which one finds the essence of literary style or terminology in the expression of sentence. The taller case is especially important, given that the importance of what to express visually is on-going active procedure of this stuffy as itself an activity of communication. When a visual object persuades viewers, the activity of communication derives them to react and to understand the intention of an artist. The matter of how to speak is the matter of how to shape message persuasively. This persuasive method or technique is study of rhetoric. The three aspects (figurative, accentuating, mutating) of rhetorical expression of an illustration, the visual image can give fresh feelings to be in intimate relations with public. These rhetorical expressions also vitalize the story that is expressed on illustration with crisp image. It helps to attain expected effects while discovering essential meaning through the corresponding linguistic interpretation of an image. The study aims at the most effective way to communicate by figuring the most strong and direct illustrative message out. One of the method is to patternize illustrative expressions that are established from all kinds of shapes of Rhetoric. Therefore ,an operation of significance and an implication can shape an ultimate goal of this study from acknowledging the mechanism that modern illustration embraces.

The first legislation for terminal health-care decision was California's Natural Death Act (NDA) of 1976 that permitted any adult person to execute a directive directing the withholding or withdrawal of life-sustaining procedures. Advance directive legislation has subsequently progressed on a state-by-state basis. By 1992, all 50 states, as well as the District of Columbia, had passed legislation to legalize some form of advance directive. This state legislation, however, has resulted in an often fragmented, incomplete, and sometimes inconsistent set of rules. Statutes enacted within a state often conflict and conflicts between statutes of different states are common. In an increasingly mobile society where an advance health-care directive given in one state must frequently be implemented in another, there is a need for greater uniformity. In 1993, the Uniform Law Commissioners approved the Uniform Health-Care Decisions Act (UHCDA) in order to bring order to the existing chaos. Unfortunately, the Commissioners waited too long to act. By the time the UHCDA was approved, nearly all states had passed legislation governing advance directives. Consequently, the UHCDA has achieved only a limited success, picking up but one or two enactments a year. The UHCDA is currently in effect in around 10 states: Alabama, Alaska, California, Delaware, Hawaii, Kansas, Maine, Mississippi, New Mexico, Tennessee, Wyoming. In these states the previous laws related to the subjects have been all repealed. The overall objective of the UHCDA is to encourage the making and enforcement of advance health care directives including living will or individual instruction, power of health-care attorney and to provide a means for making health care decisions for those who have failed to plan. The U. S. House of Representatives in 1991 enacted the Patient Self-Determination Act (PSDA). The Act stipulates that all hospitals receiving Medicaid or Medicare reimbursement must ascertain whether patients have or wish to have advance directives. The Patient Self- Determination Act does not create or legalize advance directives; rather it validates their existence in each of the states. Now in America, terminal health-care decision or advance directive for health care is common and universal system. The problem, however, is how to let more people use these good tools to make their lives more beautiful and honorable.

Our society witnesses the rapid progress in the areas of politics, economy, society and culture in the process of national modernization since 1960s, which in turn as a reverse function gets to contract a societic pathology, totally lowering the security level of citizens' lives owing to various violent crimes like hostage commotions and murders with rifles and deadly weapons. what is the main reason for that? That may be partly because the chief police force concentrates on the current situation resulting in the vacuum of the public peace. However, the main reason is that the police fall short of man-power and equipments even if the whole police power were put to use in preventing and quelling the crimes. That is true not only of Korea but also of the advanced countries like the U.S.A., England and Japan. We realize that these advanced countries have higher level of security in every individual's life and property than Korea because their progress of the private guard systems can fill in a vacuum of the shortage of the police power, Therefore, we should without delay internationalize our private guard systems expecting the widely opening of the guard service markets in the age of Uruguay Round. To do this, we need to change our ideas for fostering the policy of the private guard from passive defense ideas into positive aggressive ones. Our police should urgently set up a plan to pursue the orientation of vision that we should dispatch our private guards overseas before foreign guards rush into our markets. Accordingly it goes without saying that the private guard group should distinguish their services from the public services initiating their own theory and strategy of private guard services and also readjust themselves between the public duties and the private services with the study of minimizing the reverse function of the private guard systems. The history criminal justice has always shown that the criminal system progressed at the initiative of the civil factor in case its demand and supply do not make both ends meet. Nevertheless, in the process the power of the government never weakens, rather it is built up in general. In conclusion, the necessity of the build-up of the private guard services must duly be acknowledged by the police as well as by the business which has its unique sphere within the criminal justice instead of as the suplemtary services of the simple the police power on the long-term basis. The purpose of the private guard services can be largely classified into the two categories; first it means the function to prevent the crimes against the citizens and secondly to enhance the national interest as an increasing mammoth business with a worldly competition capacity. The police has an absolute responsibility that they should protect the modem public in general from feeling the crisis of the personal threat, tension, anxiety and nervousness. In short, if we develop the complete private guard system to guarantee the societic atmosphere for all citizens, keep the public peace, and protect all citizens' lives and properties, we will sure enjoy a beautiful land, a wholesome society and a happy life in goodharmony of law and order.

This study is designed to figure out what kind of female images TV dramas have represented from 2000 to 2007 and what kind of relationship these images and the actual roles the female characters perform have in the drama. The total number of dramas analyzed is 27, and 152 female characters are analyzed. The result finds that 45% among 152 characters is in her 20's, and most of them play the main roles. Only 4 dramas use 3,40's female characters as main figures. Most 4,50 female characters play mother or grand mother roles of main characters, and they usually interrupt main character's love relationships or don't play any meaningful roles for the narrative. The old female characters over her 60's tend to play foolish and ridiculous roles and don't show any physical charms. The female main characters are beautiful and young, and the more they play good roles, they have better natural beauty comparing the bad characters. The youth and beauty of main characters helps the owner to earn the love of main male characters. It's obvious that the dramas show that female's body as physical capital to achieve higher class and power.
