LTE-Advanced system requires uplink multi-antenna transmission in order to achieve the peak spectral efficiency of 15bps/Hz. In this paper, the uplink MIMO system model for the LTE-Advanced is proposed and an efficient link adaptation shceme using precoding is considered providing error rate reduction and system capacity enhancement. In particular, the proposed scheme determines a transmission rank by selecting the optimal wideband precoding matrix, which is based on the derived signal-to-interference and noise ratio (SINR) for the minimum mean squared error (MMSE) receivers of $2{\times}4$ multiple input multiple output (MIMO). The proposed scheme is verified by simulation with a practical MIMO channel model. The simulation results of average block-error-rate(BLER) reflect that the gain due to the proposed rank adapted transmission over full-rank transmission is evident particularly in the case of lower modulation and coding scheme (MCS) and high mobility, which means the severe channel fading environment.

To detect individual vehicular speed, double loop detection technique has been widely used. This paper investigates four methodologies to measure individual speed using only a single loop sensor in a traveling lane. Two methods developed earlier include estimating the speed by means of (Case 1) the slop of inductance wave form generated by the sensor and (Case 2) the average vehicle lengths. Two other methods are newly developed through this study, which are estimations by measuring (Case 3) the mean of wheelbases using the sensor installed traversal to the traveling lane and (Case 4) the mean of wheel tracks by the sensor installed diagonally to the traveling lane. These four methodologies were field-tested and their accuracy of speed output was compared statistically. This study used Equality Coefficient and Mean Absolute Percentage Error for the assessment. It was found that the method (Case 1) was best accurate, followed by method (Case 4), (Case 2), and (Case 3).

Gunsan coastal area is one of region increasing pollution problems. One of the most important factors that cause eutrophication is nutrient materials containing nitrogen and phosphorus which stem from excreation of terrestial sources. At this study, the three-dimensional numerical hydrodynamic and ecosystem model, which was developed by Institute for Resources and Environment of Japan, were applied to analyze the processes affecting the eutrophication. The residual currents, which were obtained by integrating the simulated tidal currents over 1 tidal cycle, showed the presence of a typical. Density driven currents were generated westward at surface and eastward at the bottom in Geum estuary area where the fresh waters are flowing into. The ecosystem model was calibrated with the data surveyed in the field of the study area in annual average. The simulated results of DIN were fairly good coincided with the observed values within relative error of 32.39%. correlation coefficient(r) of 0.99. In the case of DIP, the simulated results were fairly good coincided with the observed values within relative error of 24.26%, correlation coefficient (r) of 0.82. The simulations of DIN and DIP concentrations were performed using ecosystem model under the conditions of 20 ∼ 80% pollution load reductions from pollution sources. In study area, concentration of DIN and DIP were reduced to 20∼80% and under 10% in case of the 80% reduction of the input loads from fresh water respectively. But pollution loads from sediment had hardly affected DIN and DIP concentration. For the environment management of coastal areas, in case of Kunsan area, the most important pollution sources affecting eutrophication phenomenon were found to be the input loads from fresh water.

We present power(in frequency domain) and rate adaptation(in time domain) schemes in multicarrier (MC) direct-sequence code-division multiple-access(DS/CDMA) communications. Utilizing channel state information from the receiver, the adaptation schemes allocate power the user's sub-band with the largest channel gain. In the time domain, the transmission data rate is adapted for a desired transmission quality. In the case of single-user channels, a closed-form expression is derived for an optimal time domain power adaptation that minimizes the average bit error rate(BER). Channel inversion power adaptation is found to provide nearly optimal performance in this case, as the number of sub-bands or available average transmission power increase. Analysis and simulation results show the BER performance of the proposed power and rate adaptations with fixed average transmission power significantly improves the performance over the power allocation in the frequency domain only. Also, we compare the performance of the proposed power and rate adaptation schemes in MC-DS/CDMA systems with that of power and rate adapted single carrier DS/CDMA systems with RAKE receiver.
Purpose: Quantitative analysis through count measurement in nuclear medicine planar images is limited by analysis techniques that are useful for obtaining various clinical information or by organ overlap or artifacts in actual clinical practice. On the other hand, the use of SPECT tomography images is quantitative analysis using volume rather than planar, which is not only free from problems such as projection overlap, but also has excellent quantitative accuracy. In the use of developing SPECT quantitative analysis technology, this study aims to compare the accuracy of quantitative analysis between ROI of the conventional planar images and VOI of the SPECT tomographic images in evaluating the count change happened by the volume change of the source. Materials and Methods: A 99mTcO4- source(200.17 MBq) was filled with sterilized water in the syringe to create a phantom with an inner diameter volume of 60 cc, and a planar image and a SPECT image were obtained by reducing the volume by 15 cc (25%) respectively. ROI and VOI(threshold: 1~45%, 5% interval) were set for each image obtained to estimate true count and measure the total count, and compared with the preseted volumetric change rate(%). Results: When volume changes of 25%, 50%, and 75% occurred in the initial volume of 60 cc(100%) of the phantom, the average count changes of the measured planar image were 26.8%, 53.2%, 77.5%, and the average count changes of the SPECT image were 24.4%, 50.9%, and 76.8%. In this case, the VOI size(cm3) set showed an average change rate of 25.4%, 51.1%, and 76.6%. The highest threshold value for the accuracy of radioactive concentration by VOI size (average error -1.03%) was 35%, and the VOI size of the same threshold had an error of -17.1% on average compared to the actual volume. Conclusion: On average, the count-based volumetric change rate in nuclear medicine images was able to track changes more accurately using VOI than ROI, but there was no significant difference with relatively similar value. However, the accuracy of radioactive concentration according to individual VOI sizes did not match, but it is considered that a relatively accurate quantitative analysis can be expected when the size of VOI is set smaller than the actual volume.

The main purpose of this paper is to manage the container property effectively at the container yard by applying the RTLS technology to the field of port logistics. Yet, many kinds of noises happen to be inputted with the distance value(between the reader and the tag) which is to be inputted into the location identification algorithm, which makes the distance value jumped due to the system noise of the ultrasonic sensor module and the measurement noise. The Kalman Filter is widely used to prevent this jump occurrence; the noises are eliminated by using the EKF(Extended Kalman Filter) while considering that the distance information of the ultrasonic sensor is non-linear. Also, the 3D RTLS system at the port container yard suggested in this research is designed not to be interrupted for its ultrasonic transmission by positioning the antenna at the front of each sector of the container where the active tags are installed. We positioned the readers, which function as antennas for location identification, to four places randomly in the absolute coordinate and let the positions of the active tags identified by using the distance data delivered from the active tags. For the location identification algorithm used in this paper, the triangulation measurement that is most used in general is applied and newly reorganized to calculate the position of the container. In the first experiment, we dealt with the error resulting in the angle and the distance of the ultrasonic sensor module, which is the most important in the hardware performance; in the second, we evaluated the performance of the location identification algorithm, which is the most important in the software performance, and tested the noise cancellation effects for the EKF. According to the experiment result, the ultrasonic sensor showed an average of 3 to 5cm error up to $45^{\circ}$ in case of $60^{\circ}$ or more, non-reliable linear distances were obtained. In addition, the evaluation of the algorithm performance showed an average of $4^{\circ}{\sim}5^{\circ}$ error due to the error of the linear distance-this error is negligible for most container location identifications. Lastly, the experiment results of noise cancellation and jump preservation by using the EKF showed that noises were removed in the distance information which was entered from the input of the ultrasonic sensor and as a result, only signal was extracted; thus, jumps were able to be removed and the exact distance information between the ultrasonic sensors could be obtained.

This study provides basic guidelines to enrich lecture content and teaching methods for university lecturers about basic clothing construction (flat pattern making). The survey was conducted from October $13^{th}$ to December $20^{th}$ 2010 by mail and e-mail on 96 selected clothing departments in Korean universities to investigate the content, method and condition of the course of basic pattern making. A total of 63.3% of survey respondents were PhD graduates, 80 percent majored 'Apparel Science and Technology', average of total teaching experience was 12.84 years and 40 percent had studied abroad. The surveyed universities were 4 year universities (70%), 2-3 year tenure colleges (27%), and Cyber Universities (3%). The average number of students in a class was 28.08 and the lab space and equipment was evaluated positively only when the number of students was 20 or less. The type of measurements for basic pattern drafting were 'individual student's sizes' (62%), 'ready-made clothes sizing system' (25%), 'professor's experiential sizes' (5%), 'dress form sizes' (3%). In addition, the percentage of using 'ready-made clothes sizing system' increased 13% over the previous study (Lee, 2000). At a basic pattern drafting stage, 'the error of body measurements' in the case of using individual student's sizes, 'the poor results of fitting for students who deviate from standard body size' in the case of using ready-made clothes sizing system, 'the lack of education about fitting' in the case of using dress form sizes had been pointed out as shortcomings. A total of 66% of survey respondents carried out muslin fitting; however, a lack of students and teacher feedback about fitting & alteration of paper patterns remained a problem.

To effectively use these functions many kinds of human-phone interface are used such as touch, voice, and gesture. However, the most important touch interface cannot be used in case of hand disabled person or busy both hands. Although eye tracking is a superb human-computer interface method, it has not been applied to smartphones because of the small screen size, the frequently changing geometric position between the user's face and phone screen, and the low resolution of the frontal cameras. In this paper, a new eye tracking method is proposed to act as a smartphone user interface. To maximize eye image resolution, a zoom lens and three infrared LEDs are adopted. Our proposed method has following novelties. Firstly, appropriate camera specification and image resolution are analyzed in order to smartphone based gaze tracking method. Secondly, facial movement is allowable in case of one eye region is included in image. Thirdly, the proposed method can be operated in case of both landscape and portrait screen modes. Fourthly, only two LED reflective positions are used in order to calculate gaze position on the basis of 2D geometric relation between reflective rectangle and screen. Fifthly, a prototype mock-up design module is made in order to confirm feasibility for applying to actual smart-phone. Experimental results showed that the gaze estimation error was about 31 pixels at a screen resolution of $480{\times}800$ and the average hit ratio of a $5{\times}4$ icon grid was 94.6%.

In this research, We simulated performances of error reduction algorithm for the speech signal based on the microphone array-based beamforming method in speech recognition system and analyzed its performance. Also, we processed speech signal adopted from microphone array and maximum signal to noise ratio for each channel, and then compared them with signal to noise ratio of speech signal. Speech recognition rate is improved from 54.2% to 61.4% in case 1 and is improved from 41.2% to 50.5% in case 2 of the lower signal to noise ratio. Therefore the average reduction rates are showed 15.7% in case 1.
