DCT and DWT Based Robust Audio Watermarking Scheme for Copyright Protection

  • Digital watermarking techniques are attracting attention as a proper solution to protect copyright for multimedia data. This paper proposes a new audio watermarking method based on Discrete Cosine Transformation (DCT) and Discrete Wavelet Transformation (DWT) for copyright protection. In our proposed watermarking method, the original audio is transformed into DCT domain and divided into two parts. Synchronization code is applied on the signal in first part and 2 levels DWT domain is applied on the signal in second part. The absolute value of DWT coefficient is divided into arbitrary number of segments and calculates the energy of each segment and middle peak. Watermarks are then embedded into each middle peak. Watermarks are extracted by performing the inverse operation of watermark embedding process. Experimental results show that the hidden watermark data is robust to re-sampling, low-pass filtering, re-quantization, MP3 compression, cropping, echo addition, delay, and pitch shifting, amplitude change. Performance analysis of the proposed scheme shows low error probability rates.

Collision Hazards Detection for Construction Workers Safety Using Equipment Sound Data

  • Construction workers experience a high rate of fatal incidents from mobile equipment in the industry. One of the major causes is the decline in the acoustic condition of workers due to the constant exposure to construction noise. Previous studies have proposed various ways in which audio sensing and machine learning techniques can be used to track equipment's movement on the construction site but not on the audibility of safety signals. This study develops a novel framework to help automate safety surveillance in the construction site. This is done by detecting the audio sound at a different signal-to-noise ratio of -10db, -5db, 0db, 5db, and 10db to notify the worker of imminent dangers of mobile equipment. The scope of this study is focused on developing a signal processing model to help improve the audible sense of mobile equipment for workers. This study includes three-phase: (a) collect audio data of construction equipment, (b) develop a novel audio-based machine learning model for automated detection of collision hazards to be integrated into intelligent hearing protection devices, and (c) conduct field experiments to investigate the system' efficiency and latency. The outcomes showed that the proposed model detects equipment correctly and can timely notify the workers of hazardous situations.

  • In this paper, a method measuring the reverberation time simultaneously on all of the audio frequency range was studied. The system developed in this study is composed of a pink noise generator, filter bank, and microcomputer with graphic display. In the experiment, reverbration time data measured by existing analog method and by the system were compared, and were almost same through the audio frequency. Based on the conclusion, the subject method has more convenience and accuracy with algorithm program development without existing problems and it was found out that this kind of method is widely available for many branches of room accoustics and architectual acoustics.

  • 본 논문은 오디오 e-Book 스트리밍 콘텐츠에 저작권과 인증과 관련되는 비밀 데이터를 인코딩하고 추출할 수 있도록, 스트리밍 서비스 특성에 적합한 스테가노그래피 서비스 모델과 알고리즘을 제안한다. 은닉 데이터는 송신측과 수신측에서 공유하는 비밀키 k를 사용하여 생성한 의사난수로 암호화하여 안전도를 높였다. 또한 은닉데이터가 커버데이터의 초반 일정구간 안에 랜덤하게 고루 분포하도록 하였고, 스트리밍의 상황을 고려하여 기타의 연산을 단순화하여 처리율을 높였다.

  • In this paper, we describe implementation of a network Speaker for easily read streaming audio data from the network. The Network Speaker uses MAXIM company's DS80C400 for network control and MAX542 for audio data play. The DS80C400 network microcontroller offers TCP IPv4/6 network stack with the TINI-OS provided in ROM. The TINI-OS is adopted as an embedded operating system. Application programs are implemented by using JAVA language.

오디오 신호에 기반한 음란 동영상 판별 (Classification of Phornographic Videos Based on the Audio Information)

  • As the Internet becomes prevalent in our lives, harmful contents, such as phornographic videos, have been increasing on the Internet, which has become a very serious problem. To prevent such an event, there are many filtering systems mainly based on the keyword-or image-based methods. The main purpose of this paper is to devise a system that classifies pornographic videos based on the audio information. We use the mel-cepstrum modulation energy (MCME) which is a modulation energy calculated on the time trajectory of the mel-frequency cepstral coefficients (MFCC) as well as the MFCC as the feature vector. For the classifier, we use the well-known Gaussian mixture model (GMM). The experimental results showed that the proposed system effectively classified 98.3% of pornographic data and 99.8% of non-pornographic data. We expect the proposed method can be applied to the more accurate classification system which uses both video and audio information.

An Efficient Audio Watermark Extraction in Time Domain

  • In this paper, we propose an audio extraction method to decrease the influence of the original signal by modifying the watermarking detection system proposed by P. Bassia et al. In the extraction of the watermark, we employ a simple mean filter to remove the influence of the original signal as a preprocessing of extraction and the repetitive insertion of the watermark. As the result of the experiment, for which we used about 20 kinds of actual audio data, we obtain a watermark detection rate of about 95% and a good performance even after the various signal processing attacks.

  • This paper presents a statistical technique for audio watermarking. We describe the application of the promising public key watermarking method to the patchwork algorithm. Its detection process does not need the original content nor the secret key used in the embedding process. Special attention is given to statistical method working in the frequency domain. We will present a solution of robust watermarking of audio data. In this scheme, an extension of patchwork audio watermarking is presented which enables public detection of the watermark. Experimental results show good robustness of the approach against MP3 compression and other common signal processing manipulations.

A Preliminary Examination on the Multimedia Information Needs and Web Searches of College Students in Korea

  • Multimedia searching is an important activity on the Web, especially among the younger generation. The purpose of this study aims to examine college students’ multimedia information needs and searching on the Internet. While there is a clear pattern among students with respect to their multimedia uses, searching sources, relevance criteria and searching barriers, some differences exist especially according to searching of different multimedia types such as image, audio and video. For multimedia uses, information/data-focused uses are frequently found in image and video, while the use of audio is mainly for object-focused searches. As multimedia searching sources, audio and video files present a similar pattern of being high in media specific searching sources and low in generic search engines. Browsing through related blogs and homepages is an important part of searching for media files accounting for approximately 20% of total search for each media. The relevance criteria used by study participants when search for image files was primarily concerned with topicality while the contextual and media quality in the audio and video types are also considered important. Searching barriers for audio and video files are categorized into three broad aspects, including access and search quality, preview limitations and collection limitations, while obstacles for image files searching include access difficulties and low qualities of various collection.
