  • Factors influencing mathematics academic achievement are constantly changing and have direct and indirect effects on mathematics achievement, so longitudinal studies that can predict and analyze their growth are needed. This study uses longitudinal data on students from 2011 (5th grade of elementary school) to 2015 (2nd grade of middle school) of the Seoul Education Longitudinal Study, and divides them into groups with similar longitudinal changes in mathematics academic achievement. The direct and indirect effects of learning attitudes and achievement goals were examined. As a result of the study, it was found that learning effort and learning attitude had a direct effect on mathematics achievement in 1 group (2277 students, 67.7%), and learning attitude had a direct effect on mathematics achievement in 3 groups (958 students, 28.5%). And it was found that learning effort h ad an indirect effect. In addition, it was found that both learning attitudes, learning efforts, and achievement goals had no effect on the academic achievement of mathematics in the second group (127 students, 3.8%).

  • This study aims to test effect of transfer learning program rather than students' transfer ability. For these purpose, firstly this study design transfer learning program to apply from 'rate concept' in learning math class to 'velocity concept' in science class. Subsequently, this study is to analyze whether this program affect on 'the rate concept understanding' and 'the mathematics learning attitude'. Followings are the findings from this study. First, transfer learning program affect on improving students' rate concept understanding. Moreover, 17 among 35 students' who stay in 'ratio level' move to 'internalized ratio level'. Second, besides transfer learning program is not only cause to change students' learning attitude, this program impact on changing their learning attitude positively. The study has an important implications in that it designed new learning program that students experience transfer and test its effect.

  • The method of being composed of small groups has a strong influence on mathematics and cooperative learning and therefore, the group classification should be made in a way of considering not only a learner's cognitive factor but also a affective factor in order to maximize the effects. In this research, we regarded personality as the important standard of the group classification for cooperative learning and tried to find out the influence on the mathematical attitude and achievement in mathematics by means of conducting mathematics and cooperative learning according to the personality types. In order to resolve this problem, we performed the cooperative learning of small group subject to the students at year 6 in an elementary school by making up a similar personality type of group and a different personality type of group through MMTIC examination, and also tried to find out any significant difference in terms of mathematical attitude and achievement in mathematics between two groups. The results obtained in this research are as follows; First, organizing groups in accordance with personality types did not affect on mathematical attitude. Although there were some positive opinions towards mathematics and cooperative learning, the both similar personality type of group and different personality type of group showed no significant difference in terms of mathematical attitude between two groups. Second, organizing groups in accordance with personality types showed positive effects on the achievement in mathematics. The similar personality type of group showed the better achievement in mathematics than the different personality type of group.

  • In this study of mathematics anxiety, mathematical learning style, and grade in school, 1,264 elementary students completed the Mathematics Anxiety Scale(Lee, 2005) and the Mathematical Learning Style Scale(Yang & Whang, 2005) for elementary school students. Analysis of their responses showed that anxiety about mathematics increased with grade in school. Among sub-factors of mathematics anxiety, the subject itself, learners' attitude, and learning environment increased the anxiety of upper grade students. Motivation, initiative, and regulation styles of learning mathematics were found to be important factors in the mathematics anxiety of elementary school students.

  • This thesis analyzed the effects of cooperative learning blended with TAI(Team Assisted Individualization) and STAD(Student Team Achievement Division) models on the students' ability of problem solving in mathematics in order to discover what kind of effects would give to their ability of that, and would promote their disposition and attitude to learn mathematics. The results of this study were as follows : First, the learning method blended with TAI and STAD models was more effective in the students' ability of problem solving in mathematics than traditional learning method because of the blended model's characteristics; positive interdependence, individual accountability, team recognition, curriculum materials. Second, the learning method blended with TAI and STAD models was more effective in sub-elements - self-confidence, adaptability, will, curiosity and value - of mathematical disposition than traditional learning method. And the learning method blended with TAI and STAD models was more effective in sub-elements - self-consciousness of mathematics and interests - of mathematical attitude than traditional learning method. In conclusion, the learning method blended with TAI and STAD models could affect to not only the students' ability of problem solving in mathematics but also the students' several affective factors.

  • The teaching-learning method utilizing Web makes it possible for the students take the initiative in any field and offers the teaching strategy, methodology and teaching-learning materials suitable for students' ability and standard. The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics of WBI in mathematics class for the effective teaching and learning focusing on the unit 'Function' in the 1st grade of middle school and verify its effectiveness by developing the WBI programs which can progress learning achievement and applying them to math class. Two hypotheses were established for this study. Hypothesis 1 : There will be meaningful difference between the group that studies under WBI and the one that doesn't, Hypothesis 2 : There will be meaningful difference in the attitude and interest toward learning between the group that studies under WBI and the one that doesn't. In order to find out the result, I have made a comparative analysis through t-verification on the object of two classes of the 1st grade in P middle school that I have been working for. The result shows that the class utilizing WBI is more effective than the traditional lecture-oriented class since there is a meaningful difference between the control group and experimental one and also that the class based on WEB has a great influence on students' interest and positive attitude toward math class.

  • The difference between "open" mathematics education and education of "open mathematics" arises from the difference of tearcher's understanding on the meaning of "teaching and learning mathematics" in the paper. Discusses the agreements and the worries of the researchers, the teachers, the students in korea, about open educationism, firstly, Three practical cases in mathematics lesson in korea are reviewed and analyzed in the respect of learning principles, secondly. Thirdly, the paper examines how to be modified two main learning principles, individualised learning and self-regulation of learning by teachers in the process of instruction. Finally, open mathematics advocated by Fisher(1984) and closed mathematics are compared especially in the probability unit. It concludes that the open approaches in mathematics lessons in korea need to improve with respect to teacher's attitude for didactic contents or mathematical knowledge. It is argued that teacher's open or flexible understanding of mathematical knowledge is no less important than that of their pupils.ant than that of their pupils.
