This study aims to examine the mediating role of peer attachment between affective school environments and the problematic behaviors of children using data from the Panel Study on Korean Children 10th wave (2017). Descriptive statistics, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis, Sobel test, and bootstrapping versification were performed using SPSS 28.0 and Process Macro 28.0. The results indicate that controlled and rigid school environments were negatively associated with peer attachment and positively associated with both internal and external behavior problems. Furthermore, peer attachment was negatively associated with both internal and external behavioral problems. Peer attachment completely mediated the link between affective school environments and internal behavioral problems, and partially mediated the link between affective school environments and external behavioral problems. These results show the important role of supportive and democratic school environments regarding peer attachment.
This study is to understand the effect of attachment and deviant peers on juvenile recidivism. The study analyzes a panel of Korean children, youths, and students who are in first year of middle school, and obtains the following results: First, juvenile recidivism increases by 1,5 times, from 180 people (10.2%) in third year of middle school to 278 people (15.7%) in third and last year of high school. 138 people stopped deviant behaviors (72.7%) and 42 people continued such acts (23.3%), showing that children come to stop deviant acts more than not. 236 people (85.6%) are found to have experienced engaging in deviant behaviors during third year of high school. Second, in terms of the effect of attachment and deviant peers in juvenile deviance, particularly attachment to parents, parental affection is found to have a negative (-) effect in third year of middle school, while parental supervision is found to have a negative (-) effect. In peer attachment, peer trust is found to havee positive (+) effects in third year of middle school and deviant peers are found to have positive (+) effects in third year of middle school and third year of high school. Third, in terms of the effect of youth attachment and deviant peers in juvenile recidivism, parental supervision has a negative (-) effect and deviant peers have a positive (+) effect. However, parental affection and peer attachment (friendship, trust) are not found to have an effect. Based on these results, the current study narrates suggestions for the practice of youth welfare.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between maternal attachment and discharge against advice in high risk infants and determine the factors which affect discharge against advice. Data of this study were collected by means of reviewing the medical records of 127 in-patients who were diagnosed as high risk infants in admission and interviewing of the mothers of these patients was done by telephone. The high risk categories were neonatal hyperbilirubinemia, congenital anomaly, congenital heart disease, blood disorder, neonatal infection and birth injury. Maternal attachment was measured by deviding the subjects into 2 groups, the one the continuing treatment group and the other the discharge against advice group. Maternal attachment is determined by an interplay of maternal attitude and specific infant behaviors. Maternal attachment developes through continuous physical and psychological contact between mother and infants. Later it developes into maternal love. The results were as follows: 1. There was a significant association between maternal attachment and discharge against advice, that is, the attachment score was higher in the continuing treatment group. 2. Inspite of controlling medical insurance, severity of disease and the length of stay, it was found that there continued to be either a partially significant or fully significant relationship between maternal attachment and discharge against advice. Stepwise multiple regression revealed that maternal attachment was second in importance as a predictor of discharge against advice, which indicates that maternal attachment was a significant predictor of discharge against advice. 3. Stepwise multiple regression revealed that in 32.3% of these cases the significant predictors of discharge against advice were length of stay, maternal attachment, delivery type, feeding type and income.
This study examined relationships between caregivers' attachment, young children's emotion regulation, and aggression. Subjects were 110 institutionalized and 105 home-reared children (M=3.8 and 4.2 years, respectively). Data were collected from children's caregivers via questionnaires and analyzed by ANOVA, correlations, and hierarchical regressions. Results showed that (1) caregivers' attachment and the emotion regulation and aggression of institutionalized children were significantly different from those of home-reared children; (2) caregiver's attachment was positively related to emotion regulation for both institutionalized and home-reared children; (3) for institutional children, negative relationships between attachment and aggression was found for girls; negative relationships between emotion regulation and aggression was found for boys. These findings underscore negative effects of institutionalized care on children's socio-emotional behaviors.
The purpose of this study is to investigate to what extent and how the infant's Object Attachment occurs. For this purpose, 28 mothers with their infants showing or having shown this phenomenon were interviewed. They were selected by the whole scale smpling method from 310 household -wives living at a delux Apt. in Seoul. The results are summarized as follows : 1. About 27% of the infants aged between 6 months and 6 years turned out to show this phenomenon. 2. Qulits, bed clothes, pillows and blankets, which infants have been closely contacted since their babyhood, were the major source of attachment objects. In general, these objects were proved to have soft, wasm, smooth, and glassy tactile sensation. 3.This phenomenon, in average, appeared since 13 months after birth, About 50% of the whole began to show this phenomenon between 9 and 14 month after birth. 4. Half of the infants didn't show a change of attachment strength, but as for the other half, the attachment strength increased after one year of age, and decreased after three years of age, as the social period commenced. 5. Infants needed attachment objects especially when they were driven by sleep, sense of emptiness, and monotonous or boring feeling. 6. There were little difference between Object Attachment behavior and motherinfant attachment behavior except "babbling", "using her as a base for exploration". Those behaviors did not appear in Object Attachment. 7. mothers said that their children's attachment objects played the role of substitute mother, pacificater, warmer, friend , etc. And they attributed this phenomenon's appearance to lack their physical contact with, ocnstant and warm care toward, their children or bottle feeding.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of Yakson therapy conducted by mother of preterm infants on the maternal attachment and attachment behavior. Method: A quasi experimental pre-post test design was used. The data were collected from January, 2005 to October, 2005. The participants were 30 mothers of preterm infants hospitalized in a neonatal intensive care unit (15 in the Yakson therapy group and 15 in control group). Yakson therapy consists of three phases: laying a hand, caressing by hand, and laying a hand again taking 5 minutes for each phase. Yakson therapy was provided to infants in the experimental group for 15-minutes 5 times for 15 days. Data were analyzed using the SAS program with x2-test, repeated measures ANOVA, and Fisher's exact test. Result: Compared to the control group, the experimental group had significantly higher scores in maternal attachment (F=5.54, p=.0258). And the attachment behavior of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group. Conclusion: The results suggest that Yakson therapy can be used to improve maternal attachment and attachment behavior.
Personalized product recommendation service is receiving attention as a new marketing strategy while supporting consumer information search and purchasing decisions. This study attempted to verify the effect of self-reference on service use behavior through the dual path of cognitive attitude and emotional attachment. Using convenience sampling, an online survey was conducted with 324 women who were in their 20s and 30s. After collecting and compiling the survey data, the reliability and validity of variables constituting the conceptual research model were verified through confirmatory factor analysis using AMOS 22.0. Next, the significance of sequentially mediated pathways was verified using Process 3.5 Model 80. The results showed that self-referencing not only significantly affects service use intention by simply mediating cognitive attitudes but also sequentially mediates cognitive attitudes and additional information search. Furthermore, self-referencing was significant as an indirect path to service use intention by mediating additional information search. However, in the path mediated by emotional attachment, self-referencing was considered as a simple mediated path leading to service usage intention. These results indicate a dual path in the psychological mechanism, through cognitive and emotional evaluation, that prompts consumer behavioral responses to the personalized product information provided in the shopping process.
The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of marital conflict, parenting stress on married migrant women's parenting attitudes. Participants in this study were 109 married migrant moms of young children. The major results of this study were as follows: First, married migrant women's parenting stress and marital conflicts negatively related to warmth-encouragement, limit setting, but were positively related to rejection-noninteraction in parenting behavior. Second, married migrant women's warmth-encouragement in parenting behavior was affected by personal conflicts and couple relationship conflicts. Third, competence stress, attachment stress, spouse stress, isolation stress, and health stress also affected warmth-encourage parenting behavior. On the other hand, attachment stress, spouse stress and isolation stress had significant effects on limit setting in parenting behaviors. For rejection-noninteraction in parenting behaviors, depression and spouse stress affected significantly.
This study investigated the attachment representation, self-perception, and social competence of preschoolers of interracial families in rural areas. Participants were 60 3- to 5-year-old preschoolers with Korean father-other Asian national mother group and 91 3- to 5-year-old preschoolers with Korean father-Korean mother group in rural areas. Results were that 58% of preschool children of interracial families were securely attached, 30% were insecure-disorder type, and 12% were insecure-avoidance type. Preschool children of interracial families were rated by their teachers as showing more withdrawn behaviors and prosocial behaviors than preschool children of Korean parents. A sex difference in the interracial family group showed boys with more withdrawn behaviors than girls.
The purpose of this study was to develop a "Family Play Therapy Program" using puppets to decrease attachment problems for families with children having attachment problems and to examine its effectiveness. The participants were an experimental group of 16 individuals(8 children with attachment problems whose ages ranged from 4 to 5 and 8 mothers) and a control group of 16 individuals (8 children with attachment problems whose ages ranged from 4 to 5 and 8 mothers). The experimental group was treated through the Family Play Therapy Program, which involved the use of puppets and was held for twelve sessions twice a week. The changes in the participants were measured in order to examine the effects of the program. The researcher measured children's emotional and behavioral expression(TBP), the mothers' sense of self(Self-Differentiation Scale), personal relationships(ECR-R), and the perception of family functions(ICPS-FFS) both before and after the FPT program and compared their differences. The MIM Rating Scale and Marschak Behavior Rating Scale were administered to examine the interactions between mothers and children, and 1:1 interviews were also conducted. The data thus gathered were used for non-parametric analysis(Mann-Whitney U test and Wilcoxon rank sum test)using SPSS WIN 17.0. The results of this study were as follows: First, the program had a positive effect on children's emotional expression. After the problem were over, negative emotional and behavioral expression in the experimental group decreased. Second, the program had a positive effect on mothers' self-differentiation and personal relationships. Third, the program had a positive effect on changes in the interaction behaviors between the mother and child. Fourth, the program had a partially positive effect on the responses from their group developmental stages, especially on the subscale of both a program for the reinforcement of mothers' emotions and family play program utilizing puppets.
