  • A non-parametric procedure is presented for testing exponentially against used better than aged in convex ordering class (UBAC) of life distributions based on u-test. Convergence of the proposed statistic to the normal distribution is proved. Selected critical values are tabulated for sample sizes 5(5)40. The Pitman asymptotic relative efficiency of my proposed test to tests of other classes is studied. An example of 40 patients suffering from blood cancer disease demonstrates practical application of the proposed test.

  • In this paper we consider the problem of the model selection/discrimination among three different positively skewed lifetime distributions. Lindley, Weibull, and gamma distributions have been used to effectively analyze positively skewed lifetime data. This paper assesses how much closer the Lindley distribution gets to Weibull and gamma distributions. We consider three techniques that involve the likelihood ratio test, asymptotic likelihood ratio test, and minimum Kolmogorov distance as optimality criteria to diagnose the appropriate fitting model among the three distributions for a given data set. Monte Carlo simulation study is performed for computing the probability of correct selection based on the considered optimality criteria among these families of distributions for various choices of sample sizes and shape parameters. It is observed that overall, the Lindley distribution is closer to Weibull distribution in the sense of likelihood ratio and Kolmogorov criteria. A real data set is presented and analyzed for illustrative purposes.

  • This paper proposes a U-test statistic for the problem of testing that a life distribution is exponential against the alternative that it is harmonic new better (worse) than used in expectation upper tail HNBUET (HNWUET), but not exponential on complete data. Selected critical values are tabulated for sample sizes n =5(1)60. The asymptotic normality of the statistic is proved and a comparison is made of the asymptotic efficiency between the statistic and other statistics. The power of the test is studied by simulation. A test for HNBUET in the case of randomly right-censored data is also considered. An application of the proposed test statistic in medical sciences is given.

  • The research classifies three types of asymptotic tail distributions such as long(heavy, thick) tailed distribution, medium tailed distribution and short(light, thin) tailed distribution. The extreme value distributions(EVD) classified in this paper can be used in SPC(Statistical Process Control) control chart and reliability engineering.

  • In this paper we introduce a new score generating (unction for the rank regression in the linear regression model. The score function compares the $\gamma$'th and s\`th power of the tail probabilities of the underlying probability distribution. We show that the rank estimate asymptotically converges to a multivariate normal. further we derive the asymptotic Pitman relative efficiencies and the most efficient values of $\gamma$ and s under the symmetric distribution such as uniform, normal, cauchy and double exponential distributions and the asymmetric distribution such as exponential and lognormal distributions respectively.

  • Based on the goodness of fit approach, a new test is presented for testing exponentiality versus exponential better (worse) than used (EBU (EWU)) class of life distributions. The new test is much simpler to compute, asymptotically normal, enjoys good power and performs better than previous tests in terms of power and Pitman asymptotic efficiencies for several alternatives.

  • Bayes estimation of parameters is considered for two independent exponential distributions with ordered means. Order restricted Bayes estimators for means are obtained with respect to inverted gamma, noninformative prior and uniform prior distributions, and their asymptotic properties are established. It is shown that the maximum likelihood estimator, restricted maximum likelihood estimator, unrestricted Bayes estimator, and restricted Bayes estimator of the mean are all consistent and have the same limiting distribution. These estimators are compared with the corresponding unrestricted Bayes estimators by Monte Carlo simulation.

  • In this paper, we introduce U-statistics approach to generalized Hollander-Proschan test for new better than used (NBUE) alternative. We prove, the proposed test is equivalent to test was introduced by Anis and Mitra (2011) and includes test was introduced by Hollander Proschan (1975). Also, the asymptotic properties are studied. The powers of our test are estimated. The Pitman asymptotic efficiencies of proposed test are also calculated. Finally, the test is applied to some real data.

  • In this paper, we deal with the asymptotic properties of the least absolute deviation estimators in the nonlinear time series regression model. For the sinusodial model which frequently appears in a time series analysis, we study the strong consistency and asymptotic normality of least absolute deviation estimators. And using the derived limiting distributions we show that the least absolute deviation estimators is more efficient than the least squared estimators when the error distribution of the model has heavy tails.
