An efficient four node degenerated shell element based on the assumed covariant strain

  • This paper proposes a new four node degenerated shell element. In the formulation of the new element, the assumed covariant shear strains are used to avoid the shear locking problem, and the assumed covariant membrane strains are applied to alleviate the membrane locking problem and also to improve the membrane bending performance. The assumed covariant strains are obtained from the covariant strain field defined with respect to the element natural coordinate system. This formulation enables us to obtain a shell element, which does not produce spurious singular modes, avoids locking phenomena, and excels in calculation efficiency. Several examples in this paper indicate that, despite its simplicity, the achieved accuracy and convergence are satisfactory.

  • Nonlinear analysis of reinforced concrete structures is carried out by using Reissner-Mindlin (RM) shell finite element (FE). The brittle inelastic characteristic of concrete material is represented by using the elasto-plastic fracture (EPF) material model with the relevant material models such as cracking criteria, shear transfer model and tension stiffening model. In particular, assumed strains are introduced in the formulation of the present shell FE in order to avoid element deficiencies inherited in the standard RM shell FE. The arc-length control method is used to trace the full load-displacement path of reinforced concrete structures. Finally, four benchmark tests are carried out and numerical results are provided as future reference solutions produced by RM shell element with assumed strains.

가상 변형률을 갖는 비적합 4절점 축대칭 요소 (Incompatible finite Elements for Axisymmetric Structure with Assumed Strains)

  • This paper introduces two kinds of new four-node quadrilateral axisymmetric elements with independently-assumed strains. They are formulated by the modified Hellinger-Reissner principle so as to employ incompatible displacements and assumed strains. In one of the present elements, the strains from incompatible displacements are corrected to pass the constant strain patch test. The other contains incompatible functions that are obtained from the element boundary condition. The elements are evaluated on the several problems of bending and material incompressibility with regular and distorted meshes. The results show that the new element performs excellently in deformation and stress calculation.

개선된 쉘 요소를 이용한 쉘 구조의 유한 요소 해석 (The Finite Element Analysis of Shell Structures Using Improved Shell Element)

  • 기존의 Mindlin이론을 바탕으로 한 감절점 쉘 요소는 두께가 두꺼운 쉘 구조를 해석할 경우 매우 좋은 결과가 얻어지는 것으로 알려져 있다. 그러나 두께가 얇은 쉘의 경우 전단구속 및 막구속 현상으로 인해 요소의 강성이 과대하게 평가되는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 본 연구에서는 서로 다른 두 가지 막 및 전단 구속 해결방법을 조합하여 쉘 요소에 적용하였다. 첫 번째 요소는 전단 변형률에 가정된 전단변형률을 적용하였고, 막 변형률에는 감차적분법을 적용하였다. 두 번째 요소의 경우, 막 변형률과 전단 변형률 모두에 가정된 전단 변형률을 적용하여 쉘 구조해석을 수행하였다. 여러 가지 수치 해석을 수행한 결과, 두 가지 쉘 요소가 빠른 수렴성을 가지고 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 막 구속과 전단 구속 현상이 제거된 것을 나타났다.

자연계로부터 Patulin 생성 Penicillium sp.의 분야에 관한 연구 (Study on the Isolation of Patulin-Producing Penicillium sp. from Natural Sources)

  • To study the prevention of mycotoxin contamination, a large number of sample sources were collected, and Penicilliurn sp. were isolated. TLC and HPLC methods were applied to confirm the patulin producing abilities of isolated strains. From 321 sample sources such as fruit (46), rice (31), corn (19), barley (22) and soil (38), 203 strains of Penicilliurn sp. were isolated. By the result of TLC, 21 strains were assumed to be patulin producing strains, but as a result of HPLC, only 17 strains produced patulin. Among them, E-219 strain showed highest patulin level as 0.12 mg/ml broth.

철근 콘크리트 구조물의 비탄성 해석을 위한 9절점 퇴화 쉘 요소 (A 9-node Degenerated Shell Element for Inelastic Analysis of Reinforced Concrete Structures)

  • 본 논문은 철근 콘크리트 구조물의 비탄성 해석을 수행하기 위하여 개발된 9절점 퇴화 쉘 요소에 대하여 기술하였다. 개발된 쉘 유한요소는 퇴화고체기법과 함께 구조물에서 발생하는 횡 전단 변형효과를 고려하기 위하여 Reissner-Mindlin (RM)가정을 도입하였다. RM가정을 바탕으로 한 퇴화 쉘 요소는 쉘의 두께가 얇거나, 즉 종횡비가 작거나, 균일하지 않은 유한요소망을 사용할 경우 구조물의 강성이 과대하게 계산되는 강성과대현상(Locking phenomenon)이 나타나게 된다. 강성과대현상은 선택적 감차 적분, 비 적합 모드, 가변형도 등을 사용하여 개선하는데 특히 가변형도법에 바탕을 둔 대체변형도는 많은 유한요소에 성공적으로 적용되어 왔다. 그러나 이와는 대조적으로 콘크리트의 비탄성 해석에 가변형도법을 도입하고 그 성능을 조사한 사례는 매우 적다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 가변형도법과 미시적 재료모델을 바탕으로 RM 쉘 요소를 정식화하고 미를 유한요소프로그램으로 개발하였다. 개발된 철근 콘크리트 쉘 요소의 성능은 수치예제를 통하여 검증하였다. 수치예제로부터 개발된 쉘요소를 이용하여 구해진 해석결과가 실험결과 또는 다른 해석결과에 근접함을 알 수 있다.

Anisotropic, non-uniform misfit strain in a thin film bonded on a plate substrate

  • Current methodologies used for the inference of thin film stresses through curvature measurements are strictly restricted to stress and curvature states which are assumed to remain uniform over the entire film/substrate system. These methodologies have recently been extended to non-uniform stress and curvature states for the thin film subject to non-uniform, isotropic misfit strains. In this paper we study the same thin film/substrate system but subject to non-uniform, anisotropic misfit strains. The film stresses and system curvatures are both obtained in terms of the non-uniform, anisotropic misfit strains. For arbitrarily non-uniform, anisotropic misfit strains, it is shown that a direct relation between film stresses and system curvatures cannot be established. However, such a relation exists for uniform or linear anisotropic misfit strains, or for the average film stresses and average system curvatures when the anisotropic misfit strains are arbitrarily non-uniform.

Isolation and Characterization of the Phenotypic Revertants of a Streptomyces coelicolor abs Mutant

  • We isolated phenotypic suppressors of an absB (antibiotics synthesis suppression) strain. In the absB colonies, all four antibiotics including two pigmented antibiotics were blocked so that no pigmentation could be found. We assumed that in the colonies with the wuppressive(or reversive) mutation, both pigmentation would be restored so that the strains with suppressive mutation could be cisually detected. Harvested absB spores were treated with chemical mutagen along with electric shock, and were spread on specially fromulated minimal medium plates. The pigmented colonies were isolated from the unpigmented majorities. In one candidate strain, the restoration and significant overproduction of actinorhodin and undecylprodigiosin were recognized. In three other candidate strains, the overproduction of actinorhodin and restoraion of undecylprodigiosin were observed. The production of the two unpigmented antibiotics (CDA and methylenomycin) were visualized in the tested candidate strains. The strains with wuppressive mutations would be very useful in dlucidating the regulation network of antiviotics synthesis and overproduction of the antibiotics.

  • During the last three years, it has become evident that patients with tuberculosis-like diseases due to the Mycobacterium avium-intracellulare complex(referred to M. avium complex; MAC) in Korea are more frequently observed than were assumed earlier. However, the incidence of various serotypes of the MAC isolated from patients with tuberculosis-like diseases has not been clarified. In this study, the serotypes of 16 strains of the MAC isolated from sputa of persons who had radiographic abnormalities of the lungs were determined by bacterial agglutination test with reference sera. The serotypable strains belonged to 7 serotypes, i.e., M. avium 13 were 4 strains(25.0%), M. avium 8 and 14 each 3 strains(18.8%), M. avium 5, 7, 12 and 18 one strain(6.3%), respectively. Two strains(12.5%) were not typable.

바이칼 호수에 서식하는 담수 스폰지 내 공생세균의 분리 (Isolation of Bacteria Associated with Fresh Sponges in Lake Baikal)

  • 바이칼호에 서식하는 2종의 스폰지 체내 및 주변 물로부터 92개의 저온성 균주를 분리하고 각 균주들의 기질 분해능을 조사하였다. 그 결과 섬유소와 지방에 대한 분해 활성도를 갖는 균주는 38.0, 34.8%로 비교적 적었으나 전분과 단백질 분해 활성도를 갖는 균주는 78.3, 57.6%로 높은 비율로 나타났다. 분리한 세균을 염기서열의 유사도에 따라 분류하기 위하여 Genomic Fingerprinting을 실시한 후 31개 균주를 선별하여 동정한 결과, Baikalospongia sp.에서 분리한 13균주는 모두 Pseudomonas속으로 확인된 반면, Lubomirskia sp.에서 분리한 14균주는 Pseudomonas ssp., Buttiauxella agrestis, Pseudomonas fluorescens, Yersinia ruckeri, Bacillus ssp., Paenibacillus ssp., Bacillus thuringiensis, Bacillus simplex, Brevibacterium ssp., Acinetobacter lwoffii로 다양하게 동정되었다. 그러나 총 31개 균주 중 18개가 Pseudomonas속으로 동정된 것은 타감작용에 의한 다른 세균 성장의 방해 때문으로 평가되며, 이러한 일반적인 배양 방법의 한계점을 극복하기 위해서는 스폰지의 서식처와 세균의 검출 방법에 대하여 보다 다양한 심층적인 연구가 이루어져야 할 것으로 생각된다.
