  • Three types of gap sensors, a capacitive gap sensor, an eddy current gap sensor, and a Hall effect gap sensor are described and evaluated through experiments for the purpose of precise gap sensing for micrometer scale movement, and a novel type of differential hall effect gap sensor is proposed. Each gap sensor is analyzed in terms of resolution and environment dependency including temperature dependency. Furthermore, a transport system for AMOLED deposition is introduced as a typical application of gap sensors, which are recently receiving considerable attention. Based on the analyses, the proposed differential Hall effect gap sensor is found to be the most suitable gap sensor for precise gap sensing, especially for application to a transport system for AMOLED deposition. The sensor shows resolution of $0.63mV/{\mu}m$ for the overall range of the gap from 0 mm to 2.5 mm, temperature dependency of $3{\mu}m/^{\circ}C$ from $20^{\circ}C$ to $30^{\circ}C$, and a monotonic characteristic for the gap between the sensor and the target.

  • The majority of soil microorganisms can derive ethylene from L-methionine (L-MET), while some rhizobacteria can hydrolyze 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate (ACC) due to their ACC-deaminase activity. In this study, three strains having either ACC-deaminase activity (Pseudomonas putida biotype A, $A_7$), or the ability to produce ethylene from L-MET (Acinetobacter calcoaceticus, $M_9$) or both (Pseudomonas fluorescens, $AM_3$) were used for inoculation. The highly ethylene specific bioassay of a classical 'triple' response in pea seedlings was used to investigate the effect of the inoculation with the rhizobacteria in the presence of 10 mM ACC or L-MET. The exogenous application of ACC had a concentration-dependent effect on the etiolated pea seedlings in creating the classical 'triple' response. The inoculation with P. putida diluted the effect of ACC, which was most likely due to its ACC-deaminase activity. Similarly, the application of $Co^{2+}$ reduced the ACC-imposed effect on etiolated pea seedlings. In contrast, the inoculation of A. calcoaceticus or P. fluorescens in the presence of L-MET caused a stronger classical 'triple' response in etiolated pea seedlings; most likely by producing ethylene from L-MET. This is the first study, to our knowledge, reporting on the comparative effect of rhizobacteria capable of utilizing ACC vs L-MET on etiolated pea seedlings.

  • In this paper, we have analyzed the curvature effects of the finite FSS(frequency selective surface) using the 3-D method of moment using the BiCGSTab algorithm as an iterative method. To validate the analysis method in this paper, we compared the RCS(radar cross section) of PEC(perfect electric conductor) sphere with theoretical results and it shows well agreements. The tripole slot FSSs which have many application in military were selected for the investigation of curvature effect and RCS as a frequency characteristics were observed with the variation of the curvature rate. Simulation results shows that curvature effect can significant effect the passband frequency and bandwidth of FSS. We suggest that the curvature effect must be considered at the stage of design FSS application like FSS radome.

  • Background: This study was performed to identify what effect plyometric exercise with application of kinesio taping gives on muscle activity and power of lower limb. Methods: In order to conduct research, total 14 male students at G university located Gwangyang city were randomly assigned; 7 for experimental group (with kinesio taping application) and 7 for control groups(without kinesio taping application) were conducted with box drill, one of the plyometric exercise 5 times a week for 4 weeks. Muscle activities were measured by using electrodiagnosis equipment on quadriceps and gastrocnemius. Collected data was analyzed by using Windows SPSS version 19.0. Results: Muscle activities show statistically significant differences (p<.05) both before and after exercise in experimental and control groups in terms of vastus medialis, rectus femoris, vastus lateralis and lateral gastrocnemius. However, only medial gastrocnemius shows statistically significant differences in experimental group compared before and after exercise. Sargent jump for measuring power shows that only experimental group presents statistically significant differences (p<.05). Two groups show that vastus medialis, vastus lateralis, lateral gastrocnemius and medial gastrocnemius only in muscle activities show statistically significant differences (p<.05) after exercise. Conclusion: The result of this survey indicates that plyometric exercise is effective to improve muscle activity and power of lower limb, especially, the group who exercises with application of kinesio tape is more effective than the other group with no tape application. Therefore, it is considered that plyometric exercise with tape is more effective to improve power and muscle strength.

  • This experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of animal slurry on nitrogen uptake of hairy vetch and growth of chinese cabbage in cropping system. Hairy vetch was seeded on September 20 in 2003 . We examined the effect of cover crop(hairy vetch (Vicia villosa Roth) and slurry application(0, l00, 200kg N/ha) on yield and N uptake. Dry matter yield and nitrogen uptake of hairy vetch were measured. The chinese cabbage succeeding cover crop was harvested in 2004. The nitrogen uptake of hairy vetch was 84, 121, 148kg N/ha respectively, when the slurry application was 0, 100 and 200kg N/ha. In addition. N uptake of hairy vetch at the plot of 100kg and 200 kg N/ha slurry were 44% and 76% higher than that of the plot without slurry application respectively. Slurry application of hairy vetch could increase nitrogen uptake by application of green manure at the harvesting time. the content of organic matter and P-content of soil with hairy vetch plot was higher than that of fallow plot due to inhibition of soil erosion. The organic matter levels tend to improve with the addition of hairy vetch. Hairy vetch could improve soil quality by reducing erosion compared with bare fallow. The green manure of hairy vetch with animal slurry maintained soil nutrient and reduced nitrogen fertilizer of chinese cabbage. The hairy vetch residues decomposed rapidly releasing half of their residues within 40 days after burial. The yield of chinese cabbage was 90% in the plot of manure of hairy vetch compared with chemical fertilizer. The yield in the plot treated with green manure of hairy vetch and 50% of chemical fertilizer was reduced 5% less than that of chemical fertilizer. Therefore, it was estimated that the green manure of hairy vetch-chinese cabbage cropping system could reduce nitrogen chemical fertilizer as much as 84~148kgN/ha. the green manure of hairy vetch with animal slurry maintained soil nutrient and reduced nitrogen fertilizer of chinese cabbage.

  • This study was conducted to improvement of control efficiency on clubroot disease. To improve the control efficiency on clubroot disease of chinese cabbage by chemical persistent effect, Flusulfamide DP was examined with soil mixed treatment. When Flusulfamide DP was applied, the more application times, the higher control value. The control value and marketable yield per 10a of the untreated cultivation plot after two application of Flusulfamide DP were 53.9%, 4,822kg, respectively. However, based on marketability and marketable yield, untreated cultivation plot after two application of Flusulfamide DP has been thought as economic application times compared to three times application. On the other hand, the combination of soil mixing and bed soil mixing treatment Flusulfamide DP was more effective than each treatment. The control value and marketable yield of the combination treatment was 73.3∼88.9%, 5,633∼5,770kg, those of soil mixing 66.7∼70.0%, 2,847∼3,167kg, respectively.

  • This experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of carbonized rice hull (CRH) application on soil carbon storage and $N_2O$ emissions from upland soil. It was used at different rates of 0, 5, 10 and $20Mg\;ha^{-1}$. During the Chinese cabbage cultivation, several soil chemical characteristics such as soil moisture, temperature and soil carbon were observed. Also, $CO_2$ and $N_2O$ emissions were monitored. Soil organic matter contents slightly increased with carbonized rice hull applied in all the treatments. The soil carbon contents with application rate of 0, 5, 10 and $20Mg\;ha^{-1}$ were 0, 1.3, 1.2 and $2.6g\;kg^{-1}$, respectively. It was observed that soil carbon content was higher with increasing CRH application rate. Total nitrogen contents of soil applied with CRH relatively decreased with the course of time. However, $NO_3$-N contents in the soil with CRH application rate of 5, 10 and $20Mg\;ha^{-1}$ were 28.6, 25.7 and $21.5mg\;kg^{-1}$ at the end of experiment, respectively. $CO_2$ emission at the $5Mg\;ha^{-1}$ application of CRH was higher about 18.9% than non-treatment, whereas those of $10Mg\;ha^{-1}$ and $20Mg\;ha^{-1}$ treatment were lower 14.4% and 11.8% compared to non-treatment, respectively. Also, it was shown that $N_2O$ emission reduced by 19.9, 28.3 and 54.0% when CRH was applied at 5, 10 and $5Mg\;ha^{-1}$, respectively.

  • This study was established to investigate the effects of Ca application on fruit mineral nutrients, quality, and browning of 'Fuyu' sweet persimmon (Diospyros kaki). Ca foliar application at 40ml/20L/tree had a greater fruit Ca concentration than did control, Ca fertigation (40ml/20L/tree), and Ca foliar application (40ml/20L/tree) coupled with IBA fertigation (40ml/20L/tree). Fruit mineral nutrient concentrations for Mg, B, and Mn were similar or lower in the foliar treatment compared to other treatments. Fruit color was not affected. Ca treatment, whether foliar applied or fertigated, was effective in maintaining fruit firmness and in decreasing the browning symptom in fruit after MA storage at $0^{\circ}C$ for 60 and 100 days. Although Ca foliar application + IBA fertigation treatment improved fruit firmness, the positive effect on the browning and decay occurrences in fruit was not shown.
