비접촉 접지구조에 의한 휴대폰 MIMO 안테나 격리도 향상 (Isolation Enhancement by the Non-connected Ground Structure for the Mobile Phone MIMO Antenna)

  • In this paper, the method of isolation enhancement for the mobile phone MIMO antenna of LTE class 40(2300~2400MHz) was studied. Design of MIMO antenna was based on the hybrid antenna that operates both a monopole and an IFA(Inverted F Antenna). A structure for the isolation enhancement which controls induced electric field on the ground plane is located between MIMO antenna, and was not connected with the ground but apart 0.3mm. A MIMO antenna that operates on class 3~40(1710~2400MHz) of LTE service bands and a structure for the isolation enhancement at the class 10 band were designed. VSWR measurement of implemented antenna on the FR4 board showed within 3:1 at entire design bands, and isolation between antennas at the class 40 band was less than -30dB. Isolation was enhanced more than 20dB by the studied structure. ECC(Envelope Correlation Coefficient) for MIMO performance was under 0.1, and antenna average gain and efficiency measured in the anechoic chamber were -4.28~-1.40dBi and 37.32~72.36% respectively.

PROPOSAL OF TRACKING LAN ANTENNA USING IMAGE SENSOR

  • This paper proposes a wireless LAN antenna system that tracks an object automatically by using image-based tracking. The proposed system consists of a camera and a pan-tilt unit in addition to a directional wireless LAN antenna. The camera and the directional antenna are set in same direction and they are set on the pan-tilt unit. A target object which has a wireless LAN receiver is tracked by using images captured by the camera. And the directional antenna faces in same direction as the camera by the pan-tilt unit. Therefore, the directional antenna keeps pointing the receiver, and a transmitting efficiency is improved. A result of a fundamental experiment shows that a receiver attached to a flying airship was tracked by a prototype of the proposed antenna system. The airship flied about, and the proposed antenna system was set on a roof of a building. The experimental result indicates an effectiveness of the proposed system compared to the conventional directional LAN antenna.

Aperture-Miniaturized Antenna Loaded with Split Ring Resonator Array

  • In this letter, a novel antenna with a miniaturized aperture is proposed. The substrate including a split-ring resonator array is inserted into a size-reduced open-ended waveguide. For a low return loss and high radiation efficiency, the ring arrangement is optimized, and a stepped transition using H-plane discontinuity is proposed. The proposed antenna achieves a 70% aperture reduction compared to a conventional standard waveguide antenna of WR-187 (47.6 mm${\times}$22.2 mm). The return loss drops significantly at three frequencies, and a reasonable gain is achieved. The aperture-miniaturized antenna can be used in many antenna applications such as near-field measurement.

Design of Planar-Type Modified Folded Loop Antennas

  • This paper proposes the planar-type modified monopole antennas of loop structure. This antenna has an opened center of a conventional closed loop structure with an inside-folded terminal of the loop microstrip line. The size of the proposed antenna was minimized by folding the end of the loop. Also, the reactance value has been minimized by increasing capacitances between the coupled microstrip line. Therefore the proposed antenna has been compacted to about 20% from a conventional loop antenna and has increased its efficiency. The proposed antennas have an omni-directional pattern, the antenna gain was 3.67 [dBi] and the bandwidth was 900 MHz (2.6~3.56 GHz) with VSWR$\leq$2 from the simulated and the measured results. The frequency utilization coefficient was 29.9%. These properties could satisfy the S-DMB band.

  • In this paper, a size-reduction technique is presented for the RFID reader antenna working at two UHF bands. To tackle the problem of size increase in multi-band applications, two resonance paths are made to occur in one geometry with a single feed. While one resonance path is combined with the other, the entire geometry is determined to guarantee the resonance at the target frequencies through the dual-band input impedance matching. The antenna performance is predicted by the full-wave simulation, and the design method is verified by observing the good agreement between the simulated and measured results. At the two frequencies, the satisfactory return loss as well as the antenna efficiency and peak gain of the far-field pattern is obtained.

  • The present study aims to design electrically and structurally effective antenna structures in order that the structural surface itself could become the antenna. The basic design concept is composite sandwich structure in which microstrip antenna is embedded and this is termed composite smart structure (CSS). The most important outstanding problem is that composite materials of structural function cannot be used without reducing antenna efficiency. Unfortunately, such materials have high electrical loss. This is a significant design problem that needs to be solved in practical applications. Therefore, the effects of composites facesheet on antenna performances are investigated in the first stage and changes in the gain of microstrip antenna due to composites facesheet have been determined. ‘Open condition’ is defined when gain is maximized and is a significant new concept for the design of high-gain antennas considering bandwidth in practical application. The open condition can be made with the outer facesheet by controlling its position. In the design of CSS, glass/epoxy composites and Nomex honeycomb were used with exploiting open condition. Experiments, confirm that the gain is improved and the bandwidth is also as wide as specified in our requirements. With the open condition, wideband antenna can be integrated with mechanical structures without reducing any electrical performances, as confirmed experimentally here.

이동체의 위성 수신용 안테나 설계에 관한 연구 (A study on the design for mobile satellite receiver antenna)

  • 본 논문에서는 Ku-band에서 동작하는 환형의 주름을 가진 코니컬 급전혼을 가진 축 이동 그레고리안 안테나를 개발하였다. 중심축을 기준으로 $1.5^{\circ}$정도 기울어진 부반사경을 회전하는 방식으로 위성 위치 추적이 가능하도록 설계하였으며, 축 이동 그레고리안 안테나의 주반사경, 부반사경의 곡률 및 급전 중심점을 안테나의 효율이 최대가 되도록 최적화하였다. 제안된 반사경 안테나는 12.2GHz에서 33dB(효율 : 64%, 이론치 : -1dB)의 이득을 가지며 교차편파 레벨은 -21dB이하이다. 그리고 -14dB의 사이드로브레벨을 특성을 보였다. 또한 제작된 안테나로 무궁화 위성수신 실험에서 C/N비는 19dB임을 실제 측정을 통하여 확인하였다.

원형 편파를 가지는 GPS 수신용 소형 4중 Inverted-F 안테나 연구 (Compact Quadruple Inverted-F Antenna(QIFA) with Circular Polarization for GPS Receiver)

  • 본 논문에서는 원형 편파를 가지는 GPS 수신용 소형 4중 Inverted-F 안테나(QIFA)를 제안한다. 소형화된 4-포트 안테나의 효율이 감소하는 문제를 해결하기 위하여 포트에서의 반사 계수와 포트 간의 상호 결합을 함께 고려하는 새로운 정합 방법을 이론적 해석을 통해 제안하고, 모의 실험을 통해 입증한다. 제안하는 QIFA는 $120^{\circ}$ 이상의 3-dB 빔 폭을 가지며, 15 dB 이상의 전후전계비 특성을 보인다. 또한, 제안하는 QIFA는 $10{\times}10{\times}12\;mm^3$에서 -2.5 dBic의 최대 이득과 0.5 dB 이하의 축비를 가진다.

  • 본 논문에서는 다중사용자 Massive MIMO 시스템 환경에서 계산 복잡도와 성능의 균형을 고려한 효율적인 송신 안테나 선택 기법을 제안한다. Massive MIMO 시스템은 차세대 5G 이동 통신의 목표 성능을 달성하기 위한 핵심 기술 중 하나로, 높은 주파수 효율과 신뢰성, 다중화 이득 등을 얻을 수 있다. 하지만 기지국에 장착되는 대규모 송신 안테나들과 RF chain은 높은 하드웨어 비용과 복잡도, 높은 소비 전력 등의 문제를 야기한다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 기지국의 RF chain의 수를 줄이는데 효과적인 송신 안테나 선택기법을 연구하고, 기존의 기법에서 성능과 복잡도의 균형을 고려한 새로운 송신 안테나 선택 기법을 제안한다. 또한 주파수 효율분석과 함께 최적의 안테나를 찾는데 필요한 탐색 수 분석을 통해 각 송신 안테나 기법 별 성능과 복잡도를 나타낸다.

병렬 안테나에 따른 플라즈마원의 균일도 연구 (Study on the Uniformity of Plasma Density at TCP Using Parallel Antennas)

  • 안테나에 따른 플라즈마 밀도의 균일도 연구를 위해 병렬 안테나를 설계하고 이중 랑뮤어 탐침과 자기장 측정 탐침을 이용하여 각각의 플라즈마 밀도와 자기장의 세기를 측정 하였다. 나비형 안테나를 사용했을 때 플라즈마 밀도가 ~$2\times10^{11}(\textrmcm^{-3})$로 다른 두 안테나를 사용했을 때보다 높았으며, 전자의 온도는 2eV 이하로 동일한 조건에서의 나선형 안테나보 다 낮게 나왔다. 또 전류의 방향이 서로 다른 두 개의 안테나선이 가까이 있거나 안테나 성 분끼리 양성 결합(positive coupling)을 하는 경우에는 동력 효율(power efficiency)이 매우 낮아졌다.
