  • An active contour model, Snake, was developed as a useful segmenting and tracking tool lot rigid or non-rigid (i.e. deformable) objects by Kass in 1987 In this research, Snake is newly designed to cover this large moving case. Image flow energy is proposed to give Snake the motion information of the target object. By this image flow energy Snake's nodes can move uniformly along the direction of the target motion in spite of the existences of local minima. Furthermore, when the motion is too large to apply image flow energy to tracking, a jump mode is proposed for solving the problem. The vector used to make Snake's nodes jump to the new location can be obtained by processing the image flow. The effectiveness of the proposed Snake is confirmed by some simulations.

  • EPCIS(EPC Information Services) system is a core component of EPCglobal Architecture Framework offering information of the freights, the time of awareness and the location of awareness on the EPCglobal Network. The role of EPCIS is to exchange information based on EPC. There are four kinds of event data which are object event data, aggregation event data, quantity event data, and transaction event data. These EPCIS events data are stored and managed in EPCIS repository. This paper deals with the method which diversifies the data flow load of intensive EPCIS events and effectively manages EPCIS repository for exchanging data smoothly. In order to verify a effectiveness, we measure the performance of the system using a simulation by comparing the existing method with the suggested method.

  • Electrical resistance tomograpy (ERT) maps resistivity values of the soil subsurface and characterizes buried objects. The characterization includes location, size, and resistivity of buried objects. In this paper, truncated least squares (TLS) is presented for the solution of the ERT image reconstruction. Results of numerical experiments in ERT solved by the TLS approach is presented and compared to that obtained by the Gauss-Newton method.

  • We propose a sound source localization method using the Head-Related-Transfer-Function (HRTF) to be implemented in a given platform. HRTFs contain not only the information regarding proper time delays but also phase and magnitude distortions due to diffraction and scattering by the shading object. Therefore, a set of HRTFs for any given platform provides a substantial amount of information as to the whereabouts of the source. In this study, we introduce new phase criterion in order to find the sound source location in accordance with the HRTF database empirically obtained in an anechoic chamber with the given platform. Using this criterion, we analyze the estimation performance of the proposed method in a household environment.

  • In this paper, we present an environment configuration of UML CASE tool for internet based collaboration work. We define a method of model sharing in distributed location and construct shared repository. Also we design for model history among work processes and to give responsibility using user authentication. Its result will contribute development of CASE tool supporting collaboration work.

  • In relation to the creation of an avatar that will become the main character in the metaverse environment, we design a system that automatically determines the shape of the avatar according to the situation and location by adjusting the details between immersion and privacy. In this study, as a way to control immersion in various virtual environments of the metaverse environment, we derive the hypothesis that immersion is determined by how detailed the original object is expressed. We conduct research that can adaptively control the expression information of avatars.

  • To manage and query moving objects efficiently in MMDBMS, a memory index structure should be used. The most popular index structure for storing trajectories of moving objects is 3DR-tree. The 3DR-tree also can be used for MMDBMS. However, the volume of data can exceed the capacity of physical memory since moving objects report their locations continuously. To accommodate new location reports, old trajectories should be migrated to disk or purged from memory. This paper focuses on migration policies of a main memory index structure. Migration policies consist of two steps: (i) node selection, (ii) node placement. The first step (node selection) selects nodes that should be migrated to disk. The criteria of selection are the performance of insertion or query. The second step (node placement) determines the order of nodes written to disk. This step can be thought as dynamic declustering policies.

  • As CNC machine tool is one of core elements of manufacturing system, it is much important that it remains without troubleshoots. As a virtual machine is a recent alternative using IT for optimal utilization of CNC machine tool, it is a computer model that represents a CNC machine tool. But a virtual machine is still conceptual. So, in this paper, it is proposed that a virtual machine be a realistic model in the fault diagnosis module. For this purpose, the fault diagnosis system of machine tool using CORBA and fault diagnosis expert system has been implemented. Using this system, we have expections to diagnose exactly and prompty without the restriction of time or location, to reduce MTTR(Mean Time To Repair) and finally to increase the availability of manufacturing system.

  • This paper reports a case study of dynamic consolidation. The objective of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness of ground improvement at the site for Hyundai Petrochemical Compound constructed at Daesan-Myeon, Seosan-Gun in the western shores of Korea. The site ground was prepared by filling on the existing soft marine deposit which consists of a loose granular soil layer and a medium stiff clay layer. For the stabilization of site ground, the compaction was executed in three different procedures with same pounder weigh, drop height and imprint spacing. The post investigation showed that the object was successfully achieved indicating a significant increase of bearing capacity of the treated ground. In this study the effectiveness of dynamic consolidation is evluated for various factors the applied energy, temping sequences, the radial distance from the imprint location and the depth of bed rock.
