  • As a survey-type article, the paper reviews various digital topological utilities from digital covering theory. Digital covering theory has strongly contributed to the calculation of the digital k-fundamental group of both a digital space(a set with k-adjacency or digital k-graph) and a digital product. Furthermore, it has been used in classifying digital spaces, establishing almost Van Kampen theory which is the digital version of van Kampen theorem in algebrate topology, developing the generalized universal covering property, and so forth. Finally, we remark on the digital k-surface structure of a Cartesian product of two simple closed $k_i$-curves in ${\mathbf{Z}}^n$, $i{\in}{1,2}$.

  • For the general case of loading conditions and boundary conditions, it is very difficult to obtain closed form solutions for buckling loads and natural frequencies of thin-walled structures because its behaviour is very complex due to the coupling effect of bending and torsional behaviour. In consequence, most of previous finite element formulations are introduce approximate displacement fields to use shape functions as Hermitian polynomials, and so on. The Purpose of this study is to presents a consistent derivation of exact dynamic stiffness matrices of thin-walled straight beams, to be used ill tile free vibration analysis, in which almost types of boundary conditions are exist An exact dynamic element stiffness matrix is established from governing equations for a uniform beam element of nonsymmetric thin-walled cross section. This numerical technique is accomplished via a generalized linear eigenvalue problem by introducing 14 displacement parameters and a system of linear algebraic equations with complex matrices. The natural frequency is evaluated for the thin-walled straight beam structure, and the results are compared with analytic solutions in order to verify the accuracy of this study.

  • The existence theorem and continuous dependence property in $"L^2"$ sense for solutions of backward stochastic differential equation (shortly BSDE) with Lipschitz coefficients were respectively established by Pardoux-Peng and Peng in [1,2], Mao and Cao generalized the Pardoux-Peng's existence and uniqueness theorem to BSDE with non-Lipschitz coefficients in [3,4]. The present paper generalizes the Peng's continuous dependence property in $"L^2"$ sense to BSDE with Mao and Cao's conditions. Furthermore, this paper investigates the continuous dependence property in "almost surely" sense for BSDE with Mao and Cao's conditions, based on the comparison with the classical mathematical expectation.

  • Three representative dam-break models, HEC-1, DAMBRK, and SMPDBK were analyzed respectively in theri theories and then applied to the failure of Teton Dam for which some observed data exist. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that: (1) HEC-1, which uses the hydrologic routing method, produces stable solutions for almost all the cases that were tested in this study; (2) DAMBRK, which uses the dynamic routing method, is most accurate among the three models; (3) SMPDBK, which uses the generalized dynamic routing relationships, is most economical and easily applicable.

  • we have proposed a three-dimensional GLE approach to gas-surface reactive scattering, model H + H $${\rightarrow}$H_2/Si(100)-(2$ ${\times}$1) system, and the implementation of 3D GLE method on the hydrogen on silicon surface has been presented. The formalism and algori thm of the 3D GLE are worked properly in the reactive scattering system. The calculated normal mode frequencies of surface vibrations were almost identical to previous harmonic slab calculations. The reaction probabilities were calculated for two energies. The calculations show that a very large amount of energy is transferred in surface in low energy scattering. Three different types of reaction mechanisms has been observed, which can not be shown in flat and rigid surface models. Further work on the reaction mechanisms and calculations of the vibrational and rotation distributions of products is in progress. The results will be reported elsewhere soon.

  • The names of Seokgatab and Dabotab are almost generalized among the people along with Bulguksa the most well-known temple in Korea. But, despite this generalized situation, the names of Seokgatab and Dabotab have not secured the clear standpoint till now. It is because the names of Seokgatab and Dabotab can be found only in the 18C documents like and . More complicatedly, in the record of the Goryeo sarira case found during the dismantling of Seokgatab, the name of Seokgatab was 'Mugujeonggwangtab' or 'Seoseoktab'. This paper is to secure the nominal validity of Seokgatab and Dabotab to remove the confusion due to their names and to raise the efficiency of studies related with Bulguksa in the future. First, their names and the problems related with them were summarized in Chapter 2. Based on this critical consciousness, Chapter 3 deals with the tragedy of Asadal related with the creation of the stone pagodas and its symbolic re-interpretation. In this process, we can see that there could be a viewpoint of the great comprehension in them through the completion of 'the Buddhist Nation'. Then, the architectural features of Seokgatab and Dabotab were analyzed in the ritual view point of . Finally, in Chapter 4, on the basis that the viewpoint of one specific sect can not be predominantly applied in the construction of Buddhist land, it is held that Avatamsaka Idea and Saddharma-pundarika Idea can coexist without any conflict. It is shown in the fact that Seokgatab and Dabotab can make harmony together in the Avatamsaka Idea while keeping their names. With these efforts, we can clearly see that the peculiar titles of Seokgatab and Dabotab can be said to secure sufficient validity.

  • In social science fields, statistical models are used almost exclusively for causal explanation, and explanatory modeling has been a mainstream until now. In contrast, predictive modeling has been rare in the fields. Hence, we focus on constructing the predictive non-parametric model, instead of the explanatory model. Gangnam-gu, Seoul was chosen as a study area and we collected single-family house sales data sold between 2011 and 2014. We applied non-parametric models proposed in machine learning area including generalized additive model(GAM), random forest, multivariate adaptive regression splines(MARS) and support vector machines(SVM). Models developed recently such as MARS and SVM were found to be superior in predictive power for house price estimation. Finally, spatial autocorrelation was accounted for in the non-parametric models additionally, and the result showed that their predictive power was enhanced further. We hope that this study will prompt methodology for property price estimation to be extended from traditional parametric models into non-parametric ones.

  • Creep damage using a reference stress(RS) was analyzed for type 316LN stainless steel. The generalized K-R equation was reconstructed into the RS equation using a critical stress value $\sigma$. The RS equation was derived from the critical stress in failure time $t_f$ instead of material damage parameter $\omega$, which indicates the critical condition of collapse or approach to gross instability of materials during creep. For obtaining the reference stress, a series of creep tests and tensile tests were conducted with at 55$0^{\circ}C$ and $600^{\circ}C$. The stress-time data obtained from creep tests were applied to the RS equations to characterize the creep damage of type 316LN stainless steel. The value of creep constant r with stress levels was about 18 at 55$0^{\circ}C$ and 21 at $600^{\circ}C$. This value was almost similar with r = 24 in the K-R equation, which was obtained by using damage parameter $\omega$. Relationship plots of creep failure strain and life fraction $(t_f /t_r)$ were also obtained with different λ values. The RS equation was therefore more convenient than the generalized K-R equation, because the measuring process to quantify the damage parameter $\omega$ such as voids or micro cracks in crept materials was omitted. The RS method can be easily used by designers and plant operator as a creep design tool.

  • The generalized Hoek-Brown failure criterion, the strength parameters of which are determined by using the GSI index, is an empirical nonlinear failure criterion of rock mass and has been widely employed in various rock engineering practices. Many rock engineering practitioners, however, are still familiar with the description of the strength of rock mass in terms of friction angle and cohesion. In addition, almost all rock mechanics softwares incorporate the simple linear Mohr-Coulomb function. Therefore, it is necessary to provide a tool to implement the Hoek-Brown function in the framework of the Mohr-Coulomb criterion. In this study, the use of upper-bound solution of limit analysis for bearing capacity of a strip footing resting on the ground surface is proposed for the estimation of the equivalent friction angle and cohesion of rock mass incorporating the generalized Hoek-Brown failure criterion. The upper-bound bearing capacity is expressed in terms of friction angle by use of the relationship between tangential friction angle and tangential cohesion implied in the generalized Hoek-Brown function. The friction angle minimizing the upper-bound bearing capacity is taken as the equivalent friction angle. Through the illustrative implementations of the proposed method, the influences of GSI, $m_i$ and D on the equivalent friction angle and cohesion are investigated.

  • In order to calculate waves propagating into the shallow water region, a generalized parabolic approximate model is presented. The model is derived from the modified mild slope equation and includes all the existing parabolic models presented in the paper. Numerical results are presented in comparison to laboratory data of Berkhoff et al.(1982). The existing parabolic model shows almost same accuracy against the modified parabolic model and both results of models stand in closer agreement to the laboratory data. Therefore the existing parabolic model based on mild slope equation is a useful tool to compute shallow water waves which turns out to be more fast and stable in computational aspect.
