  • A study was made on the design of the prediction model concerning blasting vibration in a constraction site, Namgu, Daegu City. The geology in this area consists of hornfels of shale and mud underlain by quartize, of which the main strike of the geological structure is NW direction. Measurements were carried out on the top of the wall concrete water storage tank, which is burried in the ground earth. The attenuation due to the vertical wall of the concrete structure may be experted because of spherical divergency at the bottom corner of the wall by the Huygens principle. For design of blasting prediction model, thus among scaled distance(SD) may be preferable to use in the regression model, since they represents most likely the average ground condition. Judging from the regression results, the cube root method may be more suitable for this area. The SD values for the maximum allowable vibration velocity of 0.5 cm/s, in this area are 22.5, 28.0 and 30.6 for the significance level of 50%, 95% and 99%, respectively.

  • An experimental study was carried out in order to reduce the period and cost of construction of Missiryung tunnel, which is a relatively long one 3.6 km long. An allowable vibration level for curing concrete was established based on the extensive case studies done over the world. and assessment was performed on the possibility of constructing concrete structures like lining during tunnel blasting. Attenuation relationships were obtained by processing more than 130 measurement data from a series of tunnel blasting in the site. A Guideline for safe construction work was suggested. To verification, low small concrete blocks with a constant standoff distance were installed in the floor of the tunnel After the blocks were exposed to blast vibrations for 28 days, compressive strength tests were performed on 20 specimens taken from the blocks. It was shown that the suggested guideline was appropriate for the safe construction work at the site.

  • By using the radio propagation prediction of Rec. ITU-R P.1546, geographic information system, and S-I plane, we presented the methodology of interference analysis based on the minimum coupling loss, and also suggested the local coordinate system for calculating azimuth and elevation angles between the victim receiver and the interferer for an arbitrary antenna pattern. To check the presented algorithm, the map with the land-sea mixed area was taken for the given area of $80{\times}60[km^2]$ as real geography information. Field strength, path profile, and protection ratio with maximum allowable interference level have been illustrated for radar and fixed wireless system for the assumed frequency. In addition interference power of the victim receiver was calculated asa function of azimuth and elevation angles of the interferer. The developed methodology of interference analysis in the VHF and UHF bands can be actually applied to assess interoperability as well as compatibility in the civil or military applications.

  • Recently, the LCD manufacturing industries try to maximize the productivity of LCD panels due to sharp increase in the market need of LCD display. Usually, the increase in manufacturing speed induces additional vibration of glasses and manufacturing machineries. This kind of vibration can induce bad effects on the manufacturing accuracy, and even can damage the glasses. The vibration signal of glass itself is very useful to predict the allowable maximum level of manufacturing speed. Therefore, it is necessary to measure the vibration of the glass itself and a very thin vibration measurement system attachable on the glass is needed. Since in some processes the glasses need to go through very thin gaps such as 2.5mm, We develop a glass vibration measurement system with the thickness of 1.3mm. The system measures the glass vibration using MEMS type accelerometers and store vibration data in a Nand-Flash memory. The performance of the develop system has been verified on a real LCD manufacturing line and the accuracy of vibration measurement is comparable with that of an accurate commercial vibration measurement system.

  • This paper presents the actual conditions and reform measures of voltage and current harmonics being made in low-voltage power systems supplying various loads. The measurements were carried out at the secondary output terminals of 22.9[kV]/380[V]220[V] customer's transformers, and the results were discussed on the basis of the comparison with IEEE and IEC harmonics control standards. The voltage THDs of the power systems employed in this survey were less than $5[\%]$ that is considered to be acceptable. On the contrary, the current distortions were significantly greater than the voltage distortions, and the current THDs were distributed over the wide-range from 15.7 to $60.4[\%]$. In particular, the current distortion on the low voltage power lines of office buildings in which many PC and fluorescent lamps are used is remarkably more serious than that of factory facilities. As a result, the voltage distortion factors are observed within the range of its allowable level or less than the limits, but the current distortion factors are significantly greater than the limits of IEEE and IEC standards.

  • The thermal rating of an overhead conductor, which is the maximum allowable current, is generally calculated on the basis of heat balance equation found in IEEE P738 standard. This is given as a function of the weather conditions such as air temperature, wind speed, wind direction, and sun heat. Wind speed among such weather parameters is strongly affected on determining the line rating when it appears very low level. Therefore there may occur inaccuracy since most anemometers used in line rating monitor systems may show low resolutions and stall speed performance. In this paper, we introduce a new methodology for determining the dynamic line rating in overhead transmission lines, without using my anemometer. It was shown that wind speed can be estimated by the temperatures of 2 indirect conductors, and through experimental study, the dynamic line rating obtained by the estimated wind speed was very closely that of weather model.

  • In Korea, hydrogen stations are being promoted and commercialized. However, the risk assessment for the hydrogen station is not clear. In particular, it is not clear how to calculate the risk and acceptable criteria for a hydrogen station. Therefore, in this study, three hydrogen stations being installed were selected and general risks were calculated and the social risk of each hydrogen station was calculated. In general, the method of risk assessment is individual/social risk. This is an individual's death rate considering the frequency of accidents, And the likelihood of death according to the number of nearby residents. These can be used to calculate the level of risk for a hydrogen station. However, this method of calculate risks is the criteria for judging whether it is acceptable are unclear. For this reason, this study investigated the allowable standards for foreign risks and considered that they were acceptable by applying the risks of selected domestic hydrogen stations.

  • This paper provides a theoretical approach to the New Zealand's Catch-Balancing Regime (CBR) with a reporting requirement under the Individual Transferable Quota (ITQ) system. The enforcement strategy depicted draws on recent literature regarding practical applications of the Revelation Principle. New Zealand's use of CBR-specific instruments such as deemed values, remains to be improved. However, some of its features can constitute a valuable example for regulators seeking to improve their methods of dealing with issues as bycatch or overfishing in order to maintain Total Allowable Catch (TAC) levels under emerging ITQ systems. The enforcement strategy analyzed has the potential to provide a more sustainable and efficient management of the fish stock, reduce discarding and stabilize monitoring costs, while improving the level of reporting compliance.

  • In Rapid Prototyping process, the time required to build multiple prototype parts can be reduced by packing several parts optimally in a work volume. Interactive arrangement of the multiple parts is a tedious process and does not guarantee the optimal placement of all the parts. In this case, packing is a kind of 3-D nesting problem because parts are represented by STL files with 3-D information. 3-D nesting is well known to be a problem requiring an intense computation and an efficient algorithm to solve the problem is still under investigation. This paper proposes that packing 3-D parts can be simplified into a 2-D irregular polygon nesting problem by using the characteristic of rapid prototyping process that the process uses 2-dimensional slicing data of the parts and that slice of the STL parts are composed of polygons. Our algorithm uses no-fit-polygon (NFP) to place each slice without overlapping other slices in the same z-level. The allowable position of one part at a fixed orientation for given parts already packed can be determined by obtaining the union of all NFP's that are obtained from each slice of the part. Genetic algorithm is used to determine the order of parts to be placed and orientations of each part for the optimal packing. Optimal orientation of a part is determined while rotating it about the axis normal to the slice by finite angles and flipping upside down. This algorithm can be applied to any rapid prototyping process that does not need support structures.

  • In this paper, we analyze the maximum allowable transmitting output level of transmitter, which meets the required interference probability, in order to get the method that different communication systems can be existed and used simultaneously in adjacent channels. We analyze the performance result according to various density of interfering transmitter and transmitter output in hetero systems. In order to get the relationship with between density of interfering transmitter and transmitter output, we consider WiBro as an interfering transmitter, WLAN as a victim receiver and Extended Hata and IEEE 802.11 model as a channel environment respectively. Analyzed coexistence results may be widely applied into the technique developed to get the coexisting condition for wireless devices using many communication protocols in same frequency.
