Japanese Ocean Flux Data Sets with Use of Remote Sensing Observations (J-OFURO) includes global ocean surface heat flux data derived from satellite data and are used in many studies related to air-sea interaction. Recently latent heat flux data version 2 was constructed in J-OFURO. In version 2 many points are improved compared with version 1. A bulk algorithm used for estimation of latent heat flux is changed from Kondo (1975) to COASRE 3.0(Fairall et al., 2005). In version 1 we used NCEP reanalysis data (Reynolds and Smith, 1994) as SST data. However, the temporal resolution of the data is weekly and considerably low. Recently there are many kinds of global SST data because we can obtain SST data using a microwave radiometer sensor such as TRMM/MI and Aqua/AMSR-E. Therefore, we compared many SST products and determined to use Merged satellite and in situ data Global Daily (MGD) SST provided by Japan Meteorological Agency. Since we use wind speed and specific humidity data derived from one DMSP/SSMI sensor in J-OFURO, we obtain two data at most one day. Therefore, there may be large sampling errors for the daily-mean value. In order to escape this problem, multi-satellite data are used in version 2. As a result we could improve temporal resolution from 3-days mean value in version 1 to daily-mean value in version 2. Also we used an Optimum Interpolation method to estimate wind speed and specific humidity data instead of a simple mean method. Finally the data period is extended to 1989-2004. In this presentation we will introduce latent heat flux data version 2 in J-OFURO and comparison results with other surface latent heat flux data such as GSSTF2 and HOAPS etc. Moreover, we will present validation results by using buoy data.

In this study, we investigated the feasibility of using printed Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) film as a remote sensor for Hazardous and Noxious Substances (HNS). To improve the quality of the ITO films, binder mixing ratio, Sn concentration in ITO, thermal treatment temperature, and printing process conditions were optimized. We fabricated an electrical resistance-type liquid sensor, and to confirm the sensor operation, the change in resistance in air and seawater was monitored. The change in resistance of the ITO sensor was explained in terms of reduction reaction on the surface. Further, the sensor was controlled by Arduino, and the remote data acquisition was demonstrated.
In this paper, with the development of Information technology, application service between IT and traditional industry has been on the rise. And there are many on-going discussions actively regarding the Air quality system based on wireless sensor network which monitor and control the aircraft environment automatically and manually with the application service of detecting harmful gas. In this paper, operation program constitute the administrator monitoring device, which collects data from sensor node of wireless sensor network and sensor node and transmits environment information to display and server. Also for remote monitoring, user operation program constitutes based on PC/smartphone. Under this, the harmful gas which is made in aircraft life is measured. Real time monitoring system based on wireless sensor network is designed and realized.
To prevent the critical situation due to the fault in the aircraft sensor system, the fault tolerant system with triple or quadruple redundancy can be made. However, if the faults are occurred in two or more than sensors simultaneously, the conventional fault detection process, such as cross-channel monitoring, may give the wrong fault alarm. For this case, we can detect the fault by estimating the state vector based on the system dynamics model, which is nonlinear for aircraft. In this paper, we propose the unscented Kalman filter to estimate the nonlinear state vector. This filter utilizes the so-called unscented transformation of sigma points featured the statistical characteristics of the random variable. For verification, we perform the simulations for F-16 aircraft with accelerometers, gyros, GPS and air data system.

Crash test data from different impact modes and threshold speeds were used to assess the effects of impact conditions on air bag electronic single point sensing (ESPS) activation requirements. The requirements are expressed in terms of the desired sensor activation time based on unbelted driver dummy kinematics. A crash discriminator pre-displacement is introduced to crash recognition algorithm to the ESPS. The new crash recognition algorithm named Velocity Energy Pre-displacement(VEPD) method is developed and the ESPS algorithm based on the VEPD technique is used to assess the ESPS system performance. It is shown that VEPD method correlates very well with desired sensor activation time and meets the activation requirement.

The local area weather information is very important element to estimate where the air-pollutant will flow. But the existing NBC hazard prediction model does not consider the local area weather information. So, in this paper, we present SN-HPM that uses the local area wether information to perform more accurate and reliable estimate, and embody it to program.

Although precise temperature control in the heat treatment process is a key factor in process reliability, there are many cases where there is no separate heat source control optimization system in the field. To solve this problem, the program monitors the temperature data according to the heat source change through sensor communication in a recursive method based on multiple variables that affect the process, and the target heat source value and the actual heat treatment heat source to match the internal air temperature and material temperature. A control optimization system was constructed. Through this study, the error rate between the target temperature and the atmosphere (material surface) temperature of around 10.7% with the existing heat source control method was improved to an improved result of around 0.1% using a process optimization algorithm and system.

Purpose of this study is to develop virtual components and environment for developing a controller of an Active Air Suspension System in laboratory that slough off existing development environment using real vehicle test. This paper presents an air spring modeling and analysis of air suspension system for a commercial vehicle. Preferentially, It was performed vehicle test for pneumatic system and an air spring for characteristic analysis of system. Each component of an air spring suspension system was developed through emulations and modeling of system for pressure and height sensors in the basis on test results in SILS environment. Non-linear characteristics of air spring are accounted for using the measured data. Also, pressure and volume relations for vehicle hight control is considered. After performance verification of virtual model was performed, we developed virtual environment based on HILS for an Active Air Suspension System. We studied estimation and verification technology for control algorithm that developed.

A Ventricular assist device (VAD) is one of the most efficient treatments to raise the survivability of the end stage heart failure patient. However, some of LVAD patients have died for the failures and improper control of LVAD. To detect critical dangers in LVAD, the monitoring methods of LVAD outflow have been requested, because it can be affected by patient's hemodynamic states and abnormal conditions of LVAD. In the case of an external pulsatile LVAD, the air movement through the air line can be used to estimate LVAD outflow. In this study, the air movement in the air-line of the extracorporeal pulsatile LVAD was measured with a differential pressure sensor between different points. The precise estimation of air movement could be achieved by additional measurement of air pressure. In a series of in-vitro experiments, the LVAD outflow were changed according to the afterload of LVAD and the differential pressure of LVAD didn't have close correlation with the LVAD outflow that were measured with an ultrasonic flowmeter at the same time. However, new precise estimation with the data from differential pressure and one point pressure in the air-line showed higher correlations with LVAD outflow.

Most of steam power plant in Korea are heating the feed water system to prevent freezing water flowing in the pipe in winter time. The heating system is operated whenever the ambient temperature around the power plant area below 5 degree Centigrade. But this kind of heat supplying system cause a lot of energy consuming. If we think about the method that the temperature of the each pipe is controled by attaching the temperature measuring sensor like RTD sensor and heat is supplied only when the outer surface temperature of the pipe is under 5 degree Centigrade, then we can save a plenty of energy. In this study, the computer program package for simulation is used to compare the energy consumption load of both systems. Energy saving rate is calculated for the location of Youngweol area using the data of weather station in winter season, especially the January' severe weather data is analyzed for comparison. Various convection heat transfer coefficients for the ambient air and the flowing water inside the pipe was used for the accurate calculation. And also the various initial flowing water temperature was used for the system. Steady state analysis is done previously to approximate the result before the simulation. The result shows that the temperature control system using RTD sensor represents the high energy saving effect which is more than 90% of energy saving rate. Even in the severe January weather condition, the energy saving rate is almost 60%.
