Magnetic Properties of Transition Metal-implanted ZnO Nanotips Grown on Sapphire and Quartz

  • ZnO nanotips, grown on c-$Al_2O_3$ and quartz, were implanted variously with 200 keV Fe or Mn ions to a dose level of $5{\times}10^{16}cm^{-2}$. The magnetic properties of these samples were measured using a superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) magnetometer. Fe-implanted ZnO nanotips grown on c-$Al_2O_3$ showed a coercive field width of 209 Oe and a remanent field of 12% of the saturation magnetization ($2.3{\times}10^{-5}emu$) at 300K for a sample annealed at $700^{\circ}C$ for 20 minutes. The field-cooled and the zero-field-cooled magnetization measurements also showed evidence of ferromagnetism in this sample with an estimated Curie temperature of around 350 K. The Mn-implanted ZnO nanotips grown on c-$Al_2O_3$ showed superparamagnetism resulting from the dominance of a spin-glass phase. The ZnO nanotips grown on quartz and implanted with Fe or Mn showed signs of ferromagnetism, but neither was consistent.

Superfluorescence from Magnetically Formed Quantum Dots: the Excitation Pulse-Width Dependence

  • We investigated the laser pulse-width dependence of dense plasmas confined within the magnetic length of $In_{0.2}Ga_{0.8}As$/GaAs multiple quantum wells under high magnetic fields up to 31 T. To fully fill the Landau levels of effectively zero-dimensional system, we used intense femtosecond (fs) laser pulses to create carrier densities near $10^{13}/cm^2$. The observed photoluminescence showed a characteristic of superfluorescence, above critical magnetic field when being excited by pulses shorter than coherence buildup time.

  • 유화 Spinel $Co_{0.95}$ F $e_{0.05}$C $r_{2}$ $S_{4}$에 대한 Mossbauer Spectrum을 자기적 전이온도 부근에서부터 액체 헬륨 온도까지 여러 온도 범위에 측정하였다. 사면체 자리에 놓여있는 F $e^{2+}$ 이온은 Jahn-Teller active로서의 역할을 하여 자기적 전이온도 이하에서부터 결정 구조상에 일그러짐을 유도하여 전기 4중극자를 형성하게된다. 초미세 자기장은 100 K 근방에서 최대 값을 갖고 온도가 감소할수록 급히 감소하는 현상을 보이고 있다. 전기 4중극자 상호작용과 자기 2중극자 상호작용 크기의 비 R은 자기적 전이온도에서 0의 값이었으나 온도가 내려감에 따라 증가하여 4.2 K 에서는 5.4의 값을 가지고 있다. 초미세 자기장의 방향과 최대 전기장 기울기 주축과의 각 .theta. 의 최적 값은 0이며 최대 전기장 기울기의 비 대칭성 매개변수 .eta. 는 0.25 근방임이 밝혀졌다. 이 경우의 Mossbauer spectra 컴퓨터 모사는 실험결과와 잘 일치하고 있다....

뇌방전 위치표정에 관한 연구(I) (A Study on the lightning Discharge Positioning)

  • 뇌경보시스템은 낙뢰에 의한 인적 물적 피해를 예방하는 중요한 장치이다. 본 논문에서는 뇌경보시스템의 주요기능으로 뇌운의 이동과 활동을 감시할 수 있는 뇌방전 위치표정 알고리즘 및 회로에 대해 연구하였다. 뇌방전시 발생하는 전계성분은 whip 안테나와 공진주파수 300[kHz]의 협대역 공진증폭기로 검출한다. 자계파형 측정회로는 직교루프코일과 적분증폭기로 구성되며 주파수 대역은 5[kHz]$\sim$1.2[MHz]이다. 전계파형으로 뇌방전의 극성을 판별하고, 자계파형의 크기와 영점교차점에 의해 방향과 거리를 산출하여 뇌방전의 위치를 표정한다.

REMARKS ON LIOUVILLE TYPE THEOREMS FOR THE 3D STATIONARY MHD EQUATIONS

  • The aim of this paper is to establish Liouville type results for the stationary MHD equations. In particular, we show that the velocity and magnetic field, belonging to some Lorentz spaces, must be zero. Moreover, we also obtain Liouville type theorem for the case of axially symmetric MHD equations. Our results generalize previous works by Schulz [14] and Seregin-Wang [18].

Spin-Motive Force Caused by Vortex Gyration in a Circular Nanodisk with Holes

  • Spin-motive force has drawn attention because it contains a fundamental physical property. Spin-motive force creates effective electric and magnetic fields in moving magnetization; a vortex is a plausible system for observing the spin-motive force because of the abrupt profile of magnetization. However, the time-averaged value of a spin-motive force becomes zero when a vortex core undergoes gyroscopic motion. By means of micromagnetic simulation, we demonstrates that a non-zero time-averaged electric field induced by spin-motive force under certain conditions. We propose an experimental method of detecting spin-motive force that provides a better understanding of spin transport in ferromagnetic system.

PbWO4 : Gd 단결정 내의 Gd3+ 상자성 이온에 대한 바닥 상태 에너지 (Ground State Energy of Gd3+ Paramagnetic Ion in PbWO4 : Gd Single Crystal)

  • 분광학적 분리인자 $g_{ij}$와 영자기장 갈라지기 상수 값 $B_k^q$ 값을 유효 스핀 하밀토니안에 사용하여, $PbWO_4$ : Gd 단결정 내의 정방정계 대칭성 자리에 위치하고 있는 $Gd^{3+}$ 상자성 불순물 이온(유효전자 스핀 S = 7/2)의 바닥상태에서의 에너지 준위를 계산하였다. 외부 자기장이 영일 경우의 $Gd^{3+}$ 이온의 영자기장 갈라지기 값은 $PbWO_4$ : Gd 단결정의 방향에 관계없이 모두 같았고, 이때 ${\mid{\pm}7/2}$ > ${\leftrightarrow}{\mid{\pm}5/2}$ >, ${\mid{\pm}5/2}$ > ${\leftrightarrow}{\mid{\pm}3/2}$ >, ${\mid{\pm}3/2}$ > ${\leftrightarrow}{\mid{\pm}1/2}$ > 전이 사이에서 계산된 에너지 간격은 각각, 6.9574 GHz, 6.9219 GHz, 15.8704 GHz이다. 결정학적 축에 대하여 외부 자기장을 가하는 방향에 따라서 서로 다른 에너지 준위 값을 나타내었다. 이중 외부자기장이 결정학적 주축 a- 및 c-축에 나란할 경우에 에너지 준위를 계산하여 논의하였다.

  • Superconducting synchronous motors and generators have the field coil composed of superconductor with almost zero resistance at superconducting state. Therefore, copper loss at the conventional field coil is eliminated and the superconducting machine gets higher efficiency. The armature coil of the superconducting machine is composed of copper wire and supported by non-magnetic material such as FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic) This paper contains the design Procedure of a 1MW superconducting synchronous motor using high-temperature superconductor only for the field coil. Especially, the armature coil is designed by water-cooling in order to dissipate Joule heat easily. Moreover, 3-dimensional electromagnetic design is conducted to get a proper design result and reduce design errors from 2-dimensional approach.

  • A numerical method for the analysis of 3D eddy current in conductors due to applied time varying field is suggested using the finite element method. In the approximation of the field quantifies, the edge element is used, because it reduce the required computer memory and the computing time compared with the nodal elements. With edge elements, furthermore, the field governing equations become simple because the electric scalar potential ${\phi}$ can be set to zero. The modified magnetic vector potential($A^*$) is used as a state variable. The analysed results are compared with the experimentally measured ones for the TEAM workshop problem3.

Co Ion-implanted GaN and its Magnetic Properties

  • $2-\mu{m}$ thick GaN epilayer was prepared, and 80 KeV $Co^{-}$ ions with a dose of $3X10^{16}\;cm^{-2}$ were implanted into GaN at $350^{\circ}C$. The implanted samples were post annealed at $700^{\circ}C$. We have investigated the magnetic and structural properties of Co ion-implanted GaN by various measurements. HRXRD results did not show any peaks associated with second phase formation and only the diffraction from the GaN layer and substrate structure were observed. SIMS profiles of Co implanted into GaN before and after annealing at $700^{\circ}C$ have shown a projected range of $\sim390\AA$ with 7.4% concentration and that there is little movement in Co. AFM measurement shows the form of surface craters for $700^{\circ}C$-annealed samples. The magnetization curve and temperature dependence of magnetization taken in zero-field-cooling (ZFC) and field-cooling (FC) conditions showed the features of superparamagnetic system in film. XPS measurement showed the metallic Co 2p core levels spectra for $700^{\circ}C$-annealed samples. From this, it could be explained that magnetic property of our films originated from Co magnetic clusters.
