Ti:LiNbO3 three-waveguide type traveling-wave optical modulator; outer fed, anti-symmetrical Detuning (Ti:LiNbO3 세 도파로형 진행파 광변조기;바깥입사, 반대칭 Detuning)

  • Switching phenomenon of a three-waveguide optical coupler was analyzed by using the coupled mode theory, and the coupling-length of the device was calculated by means of the FDM. CPW traveling-wave electrodes were designed by the CMM and SOR simulation techniques so as to satisfy the conditions of phase-velocity and impedance matching. Traveling-wave modulators were fabricated on a z-cut LiNbO$_3$ substrate. Ti was in-diffused in LiNbO$_3$ to make waveguides and Au electrodes were built on the waveguides by the electroplating technique. Insertion loss and switching voltage of the optical modulator were about 4 ㏈ and 15.6V. Network analyzer was used to obtain S parameters and corresponding RF response. From the measurement, parameters of the traveling-wave electrodes were extracted as such Z$_{c}$=39.2 $\Omega$, Neff=2.48, and a0=0.0665/cm((GHz) (1/2)). The measured optical response R(w) was compared with the theoretically estimated and both responses were shown to agree well. The measurement results revealed that the ㏈ bandwidth turned out to be about 13 GHz.

Sound Sensation and Its Related Objective Parameters of Nylon Fabrics for Sports Outerwear (스포츠 아우터웨어용 나일론 직물의 소리 감각과 이와 관련된 객관적 파라미터들)

  • 본 연구는 스포츠 아우터웨어용 나일론 직물의 소리에 대한 주관적 감각과 이에 관련된 객관적 측정치를 규명하기 위하여, 서로 다른 8종의 나일론 직물의 소리의 스펙트럼 파형을 고찰하였으며, 소리 파라미터로 총음압(level pressure of total sound, LPT),세 가지 AR (autoregressive)계수, Zwicker의 심리음향학적 모델에 따른 크기(Z)와 날카로움(Z)를 계산하였고, Kawabata Evaluation System(KES)으로 직물의 물리적 성질을 측정하였다. 주관적 감각 평가를 위하여 피험자에게 녹음된 각 직물소리를 들려주어 7개 소리 감각 (부드러움, 시끄러움, 날카로움, 맑음, 거 침, 높음, 유쾌함)을 의미분별척도로 답하게 한 후, 단계적 선형 회귀식을 이용하여 직물 소리의 주관적 감각에 대한 예측 모델을 제시하였다. 울트라스웨이드를 제외한 태피터 나일론 직물들은 스펙트럼 파형 에서 다른 조성 섬유의 직물들보다 음압 값이 높고, 총음압이 60dB 안팎의 값을 보여, 착용자에게 불쾌감을 줄 것으로 예상되었으며, 주관적 감각 평가에서도 소리의 부드러움과 맑음, 유쾌함에서 음의 점수를, 시끄러움과 날카로움, 거침, 높음에서 양의 점수를 얻었다. 주관적 감각의 예측모델에서 총음압은 시끄러움과 거침에 정적 영향을, 유쾌함에 부적 영향을 미쳐서 나일론 직물 소리의 총음압이 50dB 이하일 때 주관적으로 유쾌하게 느껴지는 것으로 나타났다.

Cognitive Contrast Enhancement of Image Using Adaptive Parameter Based on Non-Linear Masking (비선형 마스킹 기법 기반의 적응적 파라미터를 이용한 영상의 인지적 대비 향상)

  • This paper proposes a cognitive contrast enhancement algorithm based on the non-linear masking to advance low cognitive contrast in dark regions of images. In order to improve brightness in dark regions of an image, we propose a new contrast enhancement algorithm based on the non-linear masking using regional adaptive parameters of an image. For performance evaluation of the proposed method, chromaticity and saturation comparison as a quantitative assessment and z-score comparison as a qualitative assessment were executed between test images and their simulated images by SSR, MSR, a conventional non-linear masking and the proposed method, respectively. As a result, the proposed method showed low chromaticity and saturation difference and improved cognitive contrast for the three methods.

Design and Fabrication of 5.5 GHz VCO for DSRC (근거리 무선통신용 5.5 GHz 대역 VCO 설계 및 제작)

  • This paper shows the design, fabrication and performance analysis of VCO which plays a major role in 5.8 GHz RF module for ITS. The design specifications of the VCO are determined on the basis of 5.8 GHz RF modul performance requirements. The design parameters are optimized through ADS simulation tool. The operating characteristic and performance analysis of the implemented VCO based on the design parameters are accomplished. The frequency variations according to the voltage change(0 ~5 V) of varactor diode are from 5.42 GHz to 5.518 GHz and the power level is 6.5 dBm. The second harmonic suppression are -21.5 dBc at 5.51 GHz and the phase noise characteristics are -83.81 dBc at 10 kHz offset frequency. The implemented VCO is available to not only DSRC and also, 5.8 GHz other systems.

  • In this study, an ILL request system was implemented using Z39.50 item order extended service. ILL requests in this system are initiated by users through a gateway acting as a Z39.50 origin for searching remote catalog databases. When users initiate a request while searching OPACs of other libraries, an extended service request PDU for item order is first sent to the home library which subsequently generates an ILL protocol message to be sent to the target library. This approach enables users to request an item online while searching. and at the same time allows the home library to retain control over the ILL transaction.

  • This paper presents the method to design the inductor and capacitor value considering the ripple component that may be generated by three operating states of the Quasi Z-source inverter at the impedance network. Based on the analysis of each operation mode, the equations of the capacitor voltage and inductor current are derived. In order to simplify the design processing, design equations of the impedance network are derived where the capacitor voltage and inductor current are lineared. The validity of the design method is verified with the simulation result using PSIM and experimental result using 32-bit DSP.

  • Maximally flat (MAXFLAT) half-band filters usually have wider transition band than other filters. This is due to the fact that the maximum possible number of zeros at $z={\pm}1$ is imposed, which leaves no degree of freedom, and thus no independent parameters for direct control of the frequency response. This paper describes a novel method for the design of FIR halfband filters with an explicit control of the transition-band width. The proposed method is based on a generalized Lagrange halfband polynomial (g-LHBP) with coefficients parametizing a 0-th coefficient $h_0$, and allows the frequency response of this filter type to be controllable by adjusting $h_0$. Then, $h_0$ is modeled as a steepness parameter of the transition band and this is accomplished through theoretically analyzing a polynomial recurrence relation of the g-LHBP. This method also provides explicit formulas for direct computation of design parameters related to choosing a desired filter characteristic (by trade-off between the transition-band sharpness and passband & stopband flatness). The examples are shown to provide a complete and accurate solution for the design of such filters with relatively sharper transition-band steepness than MAXFLAT half-band filters.

  • Parameter tuning methods by Ziegler-Nichols for PID controllers are generally classified into Z-N(1) and Z-N(2). The purpose of this paper is to describe what relations exist between the methods of Z-N(1) and Z-N(2), or how Z-N(1) can be originated from Z-N(2) by analyzing one loop control system composing of P or PI controller and time delay process. In this paper, for the first step to seek mutual relations, the simple formulas of Z-N(2) are transformed into those composing of the same parameters as Z-N(1) which is derived from the analysis of frequency characteristics. Then, the approximation of the actual ultimate frequency is proposed as important premise in the translation between Z-N(1) and (2). Such equalization and approximation brings a simple approximated formula which can explain how Z-N(1) is originated from the Z-N(2) in the form of formula.

  • 대기안정도와 혼합층고도는 보통 대기의 난류 상태를 정의하거나 대기의 확산 정도를 묘사하는데 사용하는 중요한 파라미터로써 대기오염 확산모델 연구에 많이 이용되고 있다. 현재 많은 Gaussian 대기오염 확산모델에 대부분 Pasquill 안정도 계급 또는 fumer 안정도 계급을 이용하여 오염물질의 수평확산폭($\sigma$y)와 수직확산폭($\sigma$z)을 계산하고 있다 그러나 이러한 대기안정도 산출방법은 실제의 대기안정도와 많은 차이를 나타낼 수 있으므로 이를 개선할 필요성이 있다. (중략)

  • In this paper, parameters of a given DC motor system are estimated using the model adjustment technique and the real coded genetic algorithm(RCGA) technique. A number of tuning methods, based on experience and experiment, such as Ziegler-Nichols, Cohen-Coon, IMC, L-ITAE Method have been proposed to obtain parameters for the PID controller. This paper proposes estimating parameters of PID controller using RCGA. The performance of the proposed algorithm is demonstrated through simulations and experiences.
