Purpose of this research is to analyze young job-seekers' preparation for employment process. Participants for the present research include 30 unmarried single males and females in their 20s, who are preparing for employment after graduating four-year colleges. To follow the rule of data triangulation, data includes in-depth personal interviews, field notes, memorandums, coding books, and additional questionnaires. There are 556 abstracted meaning units, 15 subcategories, 11 main categories, and final 5 themes from the data analysis. The result showed that young job-seekers were experiencing a typical cycle of preparation, attempt, failure, slump, and downgrade in job seeking standard. It is also observed that youth unemployment was a persistent phenomenon of vicious circle not easy to overcome. Especially, young job seekers were reported to restructure the perception on employment as they struggle for seeking a job, in particular, at times of experiencing hardship during the job hunting process. The interviewees responded that the possibility of getting a job declines as the job hunting period drags on eventually ending up with applying for a job of lower qualification standard.

Purpose This study aims to understand the inclinations of young job seekers towards "hidden champions" - small but competitive companies that are emerging as potential solutions to the growing disparity between youth-targeted job vacancies and job seekers. We utilize machine learning techniques to discern the appeal of these hidden champions. Design/methodology/approach We examined the characteristics of small and medium-sized enterprises using data sourced from the Ministry of Employment and Labor and Youth Worknet. By comparing the efficacy of five machine learning classification models (i.e., Logistic Regression, Random Forest Classifier, Gradient Boosting Classifier, LGBM Classifier, and XGB Classifier), we discovered that the predictive model utilizing the LGBM Classifier yielded the most consistent performance. Findings Our analysis of the relative significance of preference determinants revealed that industry type, geographical location, and employee count are pivotal factors influencing preference. Drawing from these insights, we propose targeted strategic interventions for policymakers, hidden champions, and young job seekers.

The job mismatch between job seekers and SMEs is becoming more and more intensifying with the serious difficulties in youth employment. In this study, a bi-directional content-based metric learning model is proposed to recommend suitable jobs for job seekers and suitable job seekers for SMEs, respectively. The proposed model not only enables bi-directional recommendation, but also enables HR matching without relearning for new job seekers and new job offers. As a result of the experiment, the proposed model showed superior performance in terms of precision, recall, and f1 than the existing collaborative filtering model named NCF+GMF. The proposed model is also confirmed that it is an evolutionary model that improves performance as training data increases.

The purpose of the youth employment academy is to resolve the occurrence of job miss matches due to college curriculum, which are far from the demand of industrial field. Despite the government's efforts, college students' willingness to get a job has been on the decline recently, making it also important to improve their will to get a job or desire to achieve a job, in addition to delivering expertise to job seekers. Therefore, this study investigated to identify the learning environment characteristics of the youth employment academy and examine which of these factors could improve the performance of job seeking activities by encouraging learning motivation. Therefore, significant implications could be derived through combining the field factors with theory and hypothesis verification.
The youth job problem is becoming more serious due to COVID-19. To solve this problem, a "good job platform" was proposed that allows young job seekers to easily and conveniently find excellent SMEs they want to work for. This study developed a "good job self-assessment model" that grasps the preferred jobs of young job seekers and evaluates SMEs and applied them in the platform. In this process, the characteristics of good jobs from the viewpoint of job seekers were identified through conjoint analysis from the viewpoint of salary level, performance compensation, working environment, corporate soundness, and organizational culture. Next, the importance of 13 detailed evaluation items was reflected through AHP for industry, academia, and research experts. The self-assessment model of this study can be used as a tool to improve awareness that changes the SME environment into a job favored by young job seekers. As a result, it could provide an opportunity to change the job problem from providing cost-oriented support to a qualitative solution.
This study aims to improve the situation in which accurate job information for small and medium-sized enterprises is not known and it is difficult to identify jobs that meet the preference criteria from the perspective of the 'employer brand'. To this end, through a hierarchical regression analysis of 700 young job seekers, the factors affecting the intention to get a job centered on five value factors (Interest Value, Social Value, Economic Value, Development Value and Application Value) were identified by reflecting the brand categorization theory. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that young job seekers are more interested in work culture, environment, and utilization of their majors, which directly affect job seekers, rather than characteristics of companies such as talent development, products, services, and management, and are influenced by their intention to work. This suggests that the job policy for SMEs needs to be changed from the existing quantitative support-centered to a qualitative improvement that strengthens the use of platform-centered job information.
Recently youth unemployment has long remained a nagging problem in Korea, contributing to aggravating the economy as well as the society. As an alternative solution to this problem overseas employment has been encouraged by the government who started the "K-Move" program in 2013 by integrating existing overseas employment, internship, service, and entrepreneurship support programs administered by several governmental ministries. However, employment rate of overseas job seekers was only 24.5% in 2018. This study aimed to recommend strategic directions for increasing the overseas employment rate through a questionnaire survey of the overseas employed. The factual survey results showed the following four strategic directions. First, job seekers should set clear career goals for overseas employment. Second, overseas job seekers should thoroughly prepare in advance in terms of language and related certificates. Third, IT infrastructure for offering information on overseas employment should be improved and upgraded. And, fourth, overseas employment strategies should be tailored to the specific regional or national environment. These strategic directions are expected to be of great help to overseas job seekers as well as government policymakers for formulating and implementing overseas employment support programs.

The POSCO Outsourcing Partners(POSOP) consisted of 59 companies plays an important role in creating jobs in Gwangyang City of Jeonnam Province, the representative steel city of Korea. However POSOP are suffering from a job shortage. The purpose of this study is to analyze the mismatch between job-seekers and job-openers in relation to employment in Gwangyang City. As a result of the job-mismatch analysis of nine factors, there was a clear mismatch in recognition of suppliers, access to corporate and employment information, employment information acquisition path, and employment preference factors. However, there was no mismatch in the factors of employment avoidance and difficulty in the job-seeking and recruitment process. As solutions to the mismatch, it proposes to redefine the role of POPOS, promote capacity building projects for labor-management co-prosperity and cooperation, and gradually promote related projects in connection with the master plan related a comprehensive plan for youth jobs.
Youth unemployment is a global social issue which leads to a waste of human resources and undermines the national economy. Job search self-efficacy (JSSE) can predict active job search and job search outcomes. The present study identified the factors affecting the JSSE of unemployed youth based on the Neuman Systems Model (NSM). The results indicated that job search period, job search stress, and problem-centred coping ability influenced young job seekers' JSSE, which increased especially with the perception of physical health. Therefore, to promote JSSE, it is necessary to not only establish social systems for the youth but also develop an intervention plan based on the NSM that optimises problem-centred coping ability, a normal line of defence in the individual's system, and maintains a healthy physical state, a line of resistance.

Recently, youth unemployment is not a mere economic problem in Korea. It could be developed into a serious social problem. It has been long since youth unemployment rate was more than double in total unemployment rate, which stood at 3.5 percent in 2005 and then the inactivity among the younger job-seekers is appearing to be chronic. Hence, this paper examines the status and causes of the youth unemployment problem and studies the possibility to apply the Demand-Supply Chain Management to the problem.
