In this study, we investigated scientists' perception of imagination and explored characteristics of scientific imagination. For this, we found out conceptions and characteristics based on literatures which related to imagination. We recruited eight distinguished Korean scientists who have rich research experiences by using Snowball sampling for in-depth interviews (60-90 minutes). All interviews were audio-recorded and transcribed. From the analysis of interview data, we identified their perceptions of imagination and the nature of scientific imagination which scientists reflect on during their research work. Semi-structured interview protocol was focused on: 1) how scientists perceive 'imagination' and 2) how scientists perceive the role of imagination in their scientific research. As results, we found out that scientists agreed that imagination plays an important role in scientific research process and they perceived imagination as an intrinsic part of human life. The study also indicated that participants have modern viewpoint about imagination. Moreover, we uncovered three characteristics of imagination in the research process. 1) Curiosity and interest have been a driving force for scientists' imagination. 2) When scientists use the imagination, they can be more creative during their research. 3) Imagination contemplated realistic possibilities based on the scientific knowledge, and produced the new ones. Educational implications for utilization of scientific imagination were also suggested.
The study involved determination of resistance levels of spider mites ta argano-phosphates using topical application and slide dip techniques; laboratory serening tests of alternative acaricides using an O/P resistant strain and a field trial of the screened materials. 1. Strains of Tetranychus were from Timaru(TR), Havelock Narth (HNR), Lincaln (LN). Germany (GR, GN). Comparisons of the resistant strains and normal strains at the LD50 and LC50 levels were as follows : (a) Using the topical application tochnique; with Parathian. resistant levels of the GR. TR and HNR strains of T. urticae were respeativuly, 1035. 484 and 452 times as resistant' as the LN strain. (b) Using the slide dip technique; with Phosdrin, resistant of GR, TR and HNR strains of T. urticae were 635, 274 and 266 times greater respeativuly, than the GN strain. 2. The laboratory sereaning tests were carried out far their contact plus stomach and residual effect to assess the toxicities of eleven alternative materials which would be used far control of O/P resistant strain of T. urticae. The acaricide groups represented were 3 organo-chlorines (Spidex, Kelthane and C 8514), 2 nitrophenyls (UC 19786 and Morocide), 2 cyclic carbonates(Eradex and Morestan). I carbamate (UC2004 7A), 1 mixture of carbamate and orano-chlorine and 2 other chemicals (C 8677 and M2527). From all acaricide tested. Kelthane and Morocide were the most effective, folowed by Spidex and M2527. Morestan, C8514. C8677 and RS 143 were intermediate, but Eradex, UC 19786 and UC 20046A were poor. 3, The number of sapmles required for estimation of the population in the field evaluation of acaricidal effects was one giving the highest practical precision. It was decided, after preliminary sampling trials. to use samples of 30 leaves per replicate which gave a $5.7\%$ standard error. 4. In the field trials, Morocide applied at the $0.05\%\;and\; 0.04\%$ a. i. conc. to black currant trees gave excellent control of O/P resistant population of T. urticae for about 12 days, but Morocide 0.025 and Kel thane $0.02\%$ a. i. cone. gave efficient control for about 6 days. In other words. first applications of Kel thane ane Moroeide gave very high degrees of control of O/P resistant population of the two-spotted spider mite. However, the results indicate that secondary application would sometimes be necessary. There was no foliage damage of black Currants and strawberries by either acaricides at the concentrations used. Alpine and sloped-land in Gangwondo, Korea is the most important land type for cultivation of Chinese cabbage. However, farmers in these regions have major problems with insect pests, weeds and disease. Over use or inappropriate use of agrochemicals occurs frequently. No intensive study of pesticide contamination in this area has been done. The work presented in this paper addresses this deficiency. We measured pesticide residues within soil and water samples using multiresidue analysis. Samples were collected bimonthly from April to October, 2002 at three sites with to sampling spots. At the three sites, Pyeongchang, Jeongseon and Taebaeck, pesticides most frequently detected (>30% of samples) in soil samples were endosulfan, fluazinam, diniconazole, alachlor, prothiofos and dimethomorph. The amount of pesticide residues in the soils was ranged from 0.004 to $0.412\;mg\;kg^{-1}$ in these samples. Non-registered pesticides were also detected in these samples, indicating illegal use of pesticides. No pesticide were detected in the water samples collected from those sites. The results showed that pesticide residues might be dependant on physiochemical properties of pesticides, application history and soil properties. This study provides basic data for appropriate pesticide use on alpine and sloped-land in Korea.
The distribution aspect and extinction threat evaluation of the endangered species, Rhodeus pseudosericeus were investigated from 2012 to 2017 in Korea for the subject of this study. The number of appearance sites in the past literature of available and identified R. pseudosericeus was 26. During the study period, the samples of R. pseudosericeus were collected in 44 sites (Hangang River 35 sites, Sapgyocheon Stream 4 sites, Daecheoncheon Stream 5 sites) among the noted 214 sampling stations investigated. Among these, the newly appearance streams were Ilricheon Stream, Samsancheon Stream, Bangyecheon Stream and Hanpocheon Stream in the Hangang River. In addition, the habitats and populations in the upper Seomgang River (Hoengseong Dam), lower Heukcheon Stream, Muhancheon Stream and Daecheoncheon Stream decreased due to dam construction, river work, water pollution, and the spread of the exotic species Micropterus salmoides. The main habitat of R. pseudosericeus was the middle-upper stream of clean water with slow water velocity, sand-pebble bottoms and lots of aquatic plants. Given this evidence as noted for the 30.2% reduction in occupancy within 10 years, due to the qualitative decline of habitat, the overfishing risk of ornamental fish and the spread of M. salmoides, in this case R. pseudosericeus is considered to be Vulnerable (VU A2cde) based on the IUCN Red List categories and criteria.

This work proposes a 14b 100MS/s 0.18um CMOS ADC with optimized resolution, conversion speed, die area, and power dissipation to obtain the performance required in the fourth-generation mobile communication systems. The 3-stage pipeline ADC, whose optimized architecture is analyzed and verified with behavioral model simulations, employs a wide-band low-noise SHA to achieve a 14b level ENOB at the Nyquist input frequency, 3-D fully symmetric layout techniques to minimize capacitor mismatch in two MDACs, and a back-end 6b flash ADC based on open-loop offset sampling and interpolation to obtain 6b accuracy and small chip area at 100MS/s. The prototype ADC implemented in a 0.18um CMOS process shows the measured DNL and INL of maximum 1.03LSB and 5.47LSB, respectively. The ADC demonstrates a maximum SNDR and SFDR of 59dB and 72dB, respectively, and a power consumption of 145mW at 100MS/s and 1.8V. The occupied active die area is $3.4mm^2$.

This work proposes a 12b 100MS/s 0.13um CMOS pipeline ADC for battery-powered mobile video applications such as DVB-Handheld (DVB-H), DVB-Terrestrial (DVB-T), Satellite DMB (SDMB), and Terrestrial DMB (TDMB) requiring high resolution, low power, and small size at high speed. The proposed ADC employs a three-step pipeline architecture to optimize power consumption and chip area at the target resolution and sampling rate. A single shared and switched op-amp for two MDACs removes a memory effect and a switching time delay, resulting in a fast signal settling. A two-step reference selection scheme for the last-stage 6b FLASH ADC reduces power consumption and chip area by 50%. The prototype ADC in a 0.13um 1P7M CMOS technology demonstrates a measured DNL and INL within 0.40LSB and 1.79LSB, respectively. The ADC shows a maximum SNDR of 60.0dB and a maximum SFDR of 72.4dB at 100MS/s, respectively. The ADC with an active die area of 0.92 $mm^2$ consumes 24mW at 1.0V and 100MS/s. The FOM, power/($f_s{\times}2^{ENOB}$), of 0.29pJ/conv. is the lowest of ever reported 12b 100MS/s ADCs.
Objectives: The rate at which the nationwide highway is outsourcing the duties of toll gate cashiers to the public is increasing. The aim of this study is to conduct research on job stress for the rate at which the fares are collected by national highway toll gate cashiers. Methods: The population selected was a statistically significant group making up 10% of the total number of people surveyed in 2015, with a population of approximately 5,495 persons. The sample size is intended to cover the maximum sample size of 550 samples and the maximum number of samples that should be obtained. After allocating the number of samples by quota allocation, the qualitative function of Quality Function Deployment (QFD) was applied by random sampling. Results: Job stress ranked at $46.6{\pm}11.5$ points was found to be under the stress of 50% reported in other occupations. Job stress items showed higher for "job instability" compared to other types of tasks. Also, it appeared lower in "conflict in relationships." This is a result of the work characteristics of highway service operators. Conclusions: Time was found to have the highest influence on the workload (${\beta}=0.80$, p. 0.001), which calls for a reduction in time and workload. est influence on the workload (${\beta}=0.80$, p. 0.001), which requires a reduction in time and workload.
It is recently suggested in Korea that Resource-Based Relative Value Scale (RBRVS) is an alternative plan of Korean Dental Fee Schedule which has been operated on a fee-for-service basis since the introduction of the national health insurance program in 1977. RBRVS applicable to diagnosis and treatment for temporomandibular disorders (TMD), a common cause of orofacial pain, is needed to be estimated in Korea and the establishment of the standard terminology of dental procedures for TMD should be preceded. The purposes of this study were to develop a new classification system of health care service items for TMD and to investigate time needed for each item, which enables RBRVS to be estimated prior to establishment the payment system of health care services for TMD. The dental service items for TMD in this study were categorized through Delphi process which 10 TMD specialists were participated in and the time needed for each service item was investigated by work sampling and time study method with a stopwatch. The results of this study demonstrated the new classification system of dental services for TMD comprising 151 service items and exhibited the average time for each items ranging from 7.22 min for cold laser therapy to 171.71 min for direct fabrication of anterior repositioning splint. Conclusively, it is suggested that the classification system for TMD developed in this study, considering specific characteristics on basis of resources for health care service of dental procedures, should be helpful to estimate payment level for each service item.
The purpose of this study is to empirically determine the structural relationship between employee constructs such as internal service quality, employee satisfaction, and organization commitment and customer constructs such as perceived value, customer satisfaction, and loyalty to suggest an effective business strategy for restaurant business. To do this, the study consulted with the Korea Restaurant Association, the representative of Korean food service and got the intention of participating in the research from the Daegu branch. As a result, 51 restaurants registered in the Daegu branch who showed their intention to participate were selected as an initial sample. Also, other restaurants were introduced through snow-ball sampling method by the owners of restaurants who finished responding to the survey, and total 100 restaurants were examined. A survey was conducted to external customers who visited restaurants and internal customers working there. For final analysis, 741 questionnaires of internal customers and 970 questionnaires of external customers were used. The result of analysis showed that team-work & communication in internal service quality has a significant effect on employee satisfaction, employee satisfaction on organization commitment, and organization commitment on value perceived by customers. Also, perceived value has a significant effect on customer satisfaction and loyalty, and customer satisfaction on loyalty.
