Stiffness of hybrid systems with and without pre-stressing

  • Constructive merging of "basic" systems of different behavior creates hybrid systems. In doing so, the structural elements are grouped according to the behavior in carrying the load into a geometric order that provides sufficient load and structure functionality and optimization of the material consumption. Applicable in all materializations and logical geometric forms is a transparent system suitable for the optimization of load-bearing structures. Research by individual authors gave insight into suitable system constellations from the aspect of load capacity and the approximatemethod of estimating the participation of partialstiffnesswithin the rigidity ofthe hybrid system. The obtained terms will continue to be the basisfor our own research of the influence of variable parameters on the behavior of hybrid systemsformed of glued laminated girder and cable of different geometric shapes. Previous research has shown that by applying the strut-type hybrid systems can increase the load capacity and reduce the deformability ofthe free girder.The implemented parametric analysis pointsto the basic parameterin the behavior of these systems-the rigidity ofindividual elements and the overallstiffnessofthe system.The basic idea ofpre-stressing is that, in the load system or individual load-bearing element, prior to application of the exploitation load, artificially challenge the forcesthatshould optimize the finalsystembehaviorin the overall load. Pre-stressing is possible only if the supporting system orsystem's element possesssufficientstrength orstiffness, orreaction to the imposed forces of pre-stressing. In this paper will be presented own research of the relationship of partial stiffness of strut-type hybrid systemsofdifferentgeometric forms.Conducted parametric analysisofhybridsystemswithandwithoutpre-stressing, and on the example of the glulam-steel strut-type hybrid system under realistic conditions of change in the moisture content ofthe wooden girder,resulted in accurate expressions and diagramssuitable for application in practice.

재난 이후 임시주거의 공간특성 연구 - 아시아지역에서 발생한 자연재난을 중심으로 - (A Study on Spatial Characteristics of Post-Disaster Interim Housing - Focusing on Asian Precedents of Natural Disasters -)

  • This study intends to research the spatial characteristics of Asian interim housing that accommodates sufferers pro tempore after disasters. The scope of this research covers the interim spaces used for housing people after natural disasters that occurred in Asia for the past fifteen years. Within this scope, literature review was conducted as the basis to derive the characteristics and environmental elements of interim housing, which provided the criteria to compare and evaluate cases of interim housing along with characteristic elements required of interim housing found in previous studies. According to literature review, interim housing can be classified by life-span, region, economy, climate, type, number of household, square measure, residential cost, structure/material, and service life. Within the scope of the present research, literature review showed a total of twenty-eight cases of interim housing in fifteen countries revealing a high rate of disaster occurrence in the subtropic and tropic climate of Southeast Asia. A great percentage of interim housing was used for long-term stay of over a year. The structure of interim housing varied from lightweight steel, wooden, masonry, membrane, to traditional structure and the type were divided into temporary shelter, transitional housing, temporary housing, and permanent housing. Followed by literature review, the characteristics required of post-disaster interim housing were analyzed based on previous research and case studies. The characteristics of interim housing can be divided into environmental, technological, and socio-cultural ones. Sub-characterical items according to such division include amenity, health, surroundings, structure, convenience, eco-friendliness, safety, communication, and locality. As a result of evaluation, most items met the required characteristics of interim housing, while technological characteristics such as structure and convenience varied with the types of interim housing and appeared even unnecessary in some cases. According to analysis, amenity is maintained through the structural and material characteristics of interim housing and is also facilitated by increasing number of infrastructure such as educational, sanitary, and convenience facilities provided by the governmental and organizational bodies. It is expected that this study will be utilized as preliminary data for follow-up studies that improve the environment of post-disaster interim housing suitable for domestic circumstances in environmental, technological, and socio-cultural respects.

서울 북촌(北村)의 역사경관보전정책 변천에 따른 건축물 변화 (A study on the change of the Building appearances according to the change of conservation policies and urban fabric in Bukchon of Seoul, since 1980's)

  • We have focused on the building appearance according to the change of conservation policy and urban fabric in Bukchon, Seoul. The Urban Hanok, urban traditional housing type, had been evolved in modern contort from 1920's to 1960's, that is to say, many buildings(Urban Hanok) in Bukchon area has built up with a lot and road at the same time. But the change of conservation policy has an effect on the urban fabric and building(wooden structure, RC and brick building). Thus many types of building in Bukchon has undergone a various change. The purpose of this paper is to define a change factor of Bukchon buildings. Thus we need to pay attention to policy and urban fabric. We reached the result as follows. First, the change of architecture regulations according to the several policies(an aesthetic area, an altitude area for sky line restriction and so on) brought into building deformation and eventually the historic scenery of Bukchon has been spoiled. Second, the change of policy had an effect on the change of roads and lots. Buildings on a widen road and a united lot was built newly. But new buildings built up with a concrete or brick structure was not in harmony with the historic scenery of Bukchon area. Third, a development method of a large lot with lack prudence(disregarded a scale and size of lot) did damage to Urban hanok and urban fabric. With the understanding on the relationship of buildings, a urban fabric and a policy in Bukchon, we can define the identity and correspond with the urgent request for a the conservation of historic urban scenery In addition we can suggest the policy and the design guidelines for the reservation and rehabilitation for Bukchon, Seoul.

목조건축의 결구방식을 고려한 효과적인 한옥부재 표현 기법 (Efficient Description Method for Hanok Components Reflecting Coupling Scheme of Wooden Structure)

  • 본 논문은 한옥 설계 지원 시스템을 개발함에 있어서 부재의 수를 획기적으로 줄이면서 한옥을 설계할 수 있는 효과적인 부재 표현방식을 제안하고자 한다. 한옥은 규모, 지붕의 모양, 공포의 유무 등에 따라 다양하게 분류할 수 있으며 결구방식 및 연결부재에 따라 부재의 수가 매우 다양하다. 이러한 다양한 부재를 모두 설계하게 되면 설계 시에 부재의 사용과 취급이 어려워진다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해서 전남 표준한옥올 중심으로 한옥의 목구조 방식을 체계적으로 분석하고 특성이 비슷한 부재들을 모아서 하나의 템플릿으로 설계하여 다양한 형태의 유사부재들을 속성 값에 따라 자유롭게 생성할 수 있도록 객체지향 방식의 표현기법을 사용한다. 제안된 방식은 객체지향 방식의 부재를 표현함에 있어서 연결 부재간의 상관관계를 부재와 부재간의 관련 파라미터들 사이의 결합규칙을 적용함으로써 설계의 오류를 최소화 하도록 지원할 수 있다.

신안해저 인양 침몰선의 복원 연구 (A Study on the Restoration of Shinan Shipwreck)

  • This study focused on the reconstructional point of Shinan ship-wreck that was excavated between $1976\~1984$. The wreck, which might be sunk in the beginning of the 14th century, is regarded as a vessel of Yuan dynasty, China. This paper tried to find out some structural characteristics and principal dimensions for restoration. The Shinan shipwreck's structural characteristics are summarized as follow, 1) The Shinan shipwreck is formed V-shaped cross section with bar keel, 2) The vessel is divided 8 holds by 7 bulkheads. 3) The ship has flat type stem and transome stern. 4) A rabbeted clinker -built is basically adopted on planking joint. 5) A wooden sheathing, which means a sort of protecting board against marine insects, is covered outside of the main hull, 6) For making an watertight structure, oakum and lime mixtured t'ung-oil are used along the seam of planking and bulkhead. 7) A V-shaped deep water-way exists at both deck side. 8) The shipwreck is believed to have 2 masts at least. 9) The shiptimbers are classified as Chinese Red Pine(Pinus Massonina) which is mainly grown in the southern part of China. Considering as mentioned above the structural characteristics, Shinan ship-wreck could be classified as Chinese Fu-chuan type(복선형) of sea-going ship. The Shinan ship's principal dimensions which are calculated on the basis of Chinese traditional shipbuilding custom, are as follow, Length overall(L.O.A). : 34.80m Length water line(L.W.L) : 24.90m Breadth(B.max.) : 11m Breadth(B) : 10m Depth at keel line(H) : 3.75m Draft(D). : 3.15m Freeboard(F) : 0.65m Ratio, length/breadth(L/B). : 2.26 Ration, breadth/depth(B/D) : 3.5 Height of stem : 7m Height of stern : 10m Displacement : ab.340ton.

FRP 보강적층판의 접착성능 및 파괴인성평가 (Adhesive Performance and Fracture Toughness Evaluation of FRP-Reinforced Laminated Plate)

  • 목구조물 접합부에 기존의 슬릿(slit)형 강판을 대체하기 위해서 FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic) 보강적층판을 제작하였다. 보강재, 접착제 종류에 따라 총 4가지 타입의 FRP 보강적층판을 제작하였으며, 접합부 적용 전 KSF 3021과 KSF 2160에 의거한 박리실험과 ASTM D5045-99에서 제안한 Compact Tension (CT)형 파괴인성 시험을 실시하였다. 접착성능 시험결과 GFRP textile, GFRP sheet, GFRP Textile-Sheet 타입의 FRP 보강적층판은 침지 및 내수침지박리 시험에서 모두 KS 기준인 박리율 5% 이하를 만족하였다. 그러나 Aramid 타입의 시험편은 침지박리율 4.8%로 기준을 만족하였으나 내수침지박리율 70%로 합격기준을 만족하지 못하였다. 파괴인성 시험결과 단판만을 교차적층 시킨 대조군시험편보다 목재 대비 보강재 체적비를 23%로 함으로서 FRP 보강적층판의 내력이 2~4배 증가하였다. 그중에서도 GFRP Textile-Sheet 타입의 시험편이 하중 평행방향의 유리섬유 배열로 인해 할렬파단을 억제하면서 대조군 대비 응력확대계수 비가 61% 증가되어 파괴를 가장 크게 억제하는 것으로 확인되었다. FRP 보강적층판과 비금속 dowels을 사용한 접합부의 인장형 전단내력은 금속접합에 비해 약 12% 낮은 내력이 측정되었다.

한국 전통 목가구의 문화적 함의 (Cultural Implications of Korean Traditional Woodcraft Furniture)

  • 19세기 이후에 문화의 개념은 좋고 나쁨의 차별적 개념이 아니라, 한 집단의 삶의 방식이 다른 것과 구별되는 행동 양식으로 사용되었다. 이러한 문화는 이미 우리 생활에 깊숙이 배어있으며, 목가구도 생활이고 문화이다. 이 논문에서는 조선 시대 전통 목가구에는 선조들의 어떤 문화가 스며들어 있는지 탐구하고 하였다. 따라서 이 논문의 목적은 우리나라 전통 목가구에 스며있는 문화적 함의를 탐구하는데 있으며, 구체적인 내용에 해당하는 연구 질문은 다음과 같다. 1) 가옥 구조 문화가 전통 목가구에 어떻게 반영되었는가? 2) 실내 공간 문화가 전통 목가구에 어떻게 투영되었는가? 3) 생활 양식 문화가 전통 목가구에 어떻게 투영되었는가? 4) 오늘날의 현대 생활 문화와 전통 목가구는 어떤 조화를 이루고 있는가? 이 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위하여 조선시대 목가구와 관련된 문헌 자료를 집중 탐구하였으며, 중요무형문화재 소목장의 면담을 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 이 연구의 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 가옥 구조 문화의 측면에서, 좁은 실내 공간을 최대한 활용하기 위하여 목가구를 벽에 붙이고, 눈높이 맞는 가구를 만들어 전면 조형의 미를 추구하였다. 둘째, 온돌 문화의 측면에서, 낮은 가구들을 벽에 붙여 사용하였으며, 열과 습도의 대류 현상을 반영하여 가구의 다리는 풍혈구조로 반영되어 독특한 구조를 하고 있다. 셋째, 생활양식 문화의 측면에서, 평좌식 문화의 영향으로 안방의 모든 가구는 앉아있는 눈높이에 맞추어 그 크기와 높이와 비례로 짜여져 있고, 좌식형으로 정면이 시야에 들어오는 상자형 가구로 반영되었다. 또한 목가구의 장식에 사용되는 문양은 자연물과 수복강령을 기원하는 형태이며, 마감에 자연미를 극대화하여 표현되었다. 마지막으로, 현대 생활 문화의 측면에서, 전통 목가구를 어느 공간이나 장소에 두더라도 옆에 놓여 있는 가구를 억누르거나 하지 않고, 본래 그 자리에 있었던 것처럼 존재감을 드러내어 조화를 이루고 있다.

INTUMESCENT INORGANIC AND ORGANIC COATINGS

  • Intumescent inorganic and organic coatings which dintr one from the other by the type of gas formers and the mechanisms of foam formation have been obtained and investigated. Inorganic intumescent coatings are the compositions based on water glass and mineral additives with different dispersity. Mineral additives contain adsorbed and absorbed water and carbonates which are destructed with the carbon dioxide and water evolution during the flame action on coating. The decreasing of mineral additives particle sizes under the mechanical milling with the fraction precipitation promotes the foam coke formation with less defects. Here the main structure of comparing compositions does not change. In organic coatings based on epoxy-polymers the polyammonium phosphate additive is used. It is the cabonization catalyst and the foam agent. The polyammonium phosphate of various dispersity employed is uniformly distributed on the polymeric matrix. The decreasing of the particle sizes leads to the increasing of the fire resistant properties of the intumescent coa-ting. The fire resistant analysis of the coating during more than an hour: the coating back side the temperature on plastic or wooden materials does not exceed 423K, and on metal-573K.

능원(陵園) 정자각(丁字閣)의 첨차초각(檐遮草刻) 변화에 대하여 (A Study on the Change of the Cheomcha-chogak of the Neungwon-Jeongjagak)

  • 첨차초각은 부재의 장식을 위한 그림에서부터 비롯된 것으로 여겨진다. 고구려 고분벽화에서 사용된 여러 가지 문양의 그림은 봉정사 극락전에서 보이는 덩굴문양 단청으로 이어진 것으로 보이며 봉정사 극락전의 첨차에서는 단청뿐만 아니라 하단에 연화두식을 새기면서 비로소 첨차초각이 시작되었다. 또한 봉정사 대웅전에서는 초기적인 덩굴초각을 가진 첨차가 만들어졌는데 이것은 부재 표면에 직접 초각을 새기는 것이었다. 이후 덩굴초각은 오랫동안 전통 목조건축에서 중요한 첨차의 장식 기법이 되었다. 정자각은 임란 이후부터 조선 말까지 지속해서 조영된 건축물로서 대부분 덩굴초각을 새긴 첨차를 사용하였기 때문에 여러 세대를 거치면서 변화된 모습을 볼 수 있다. 첨차초각은 처음에는 초각줄기가 주두를 기점으로 올라가는 모양(상향형)으로 시작되다가 종래에는 재주두를 기점으로 그 줄기가 아래로 내려가는 모양(하향형)으로 변하였다. 필자는 이러한 변화에 관심을 가지고 변화과정과 그 원인을 살펴보았는데, 상향형이 하향형으로 변화는 과정 중에는 방향성과 연관이 없는 새로운 초각의 연결 방식이 사용되었음을 알게 되었고 이 기간은 경종의릉과 인조장릉의 정자각이 지어지던 시기로 화반초각에서도 연꽃이 사라지기 직전의 과도기와 일치하는 것이었다. 또한 첨차초각의 방향성이 변한 원인으로는 이익공의 내부에 두 단에 걸쳐 새겨지는 덩굴초각이 주두를 기점으로 상하 양방향으로의 분리가 일어났는데 이는 초익공 내부에 하향형 초각을 새기는 계기가 되었고 변화된 초익공의 덩굴초각은 나아가 첨차초각의 방향에까지 영향을 주었을 것이라고 추론하게 되었다. 이 글은 2018년 투고한 「능원 정자각의 화반초각에 대하여」의 후속된 글로서 정자각에 있는 여러 부재 중 하나인 첨차라는 부재를 중심으로 한 것이기에 나머지 초각들을 완전히 이해하지 못하였다는 한계를 안고 있다는 점을 밝혀 두고자 한다.

한국(韓國) 연근해어선(沿近海漁船)의 특성(特性) (Characteristics of Korean Inshore Fishing Boats)

  • Korean fisheries industry holds 57,255 boats amounting to 269,079 tons in gross as of the end of 1967. The boats of the size under 30G.T., about sixty-two per cent of the total in tonnage, are utilized in coastal and their contribution to the total production of Korean fisheries industry is estimated at over seventy-five percent. Hull forms and construction method of them are partly in transition stage to the western tradition from the oriental tradition, which employs the chine-type straight-framed section, and tick and wide wooden planking fastened on naturally bent timber frames. And only about a half of them are mechanized. About fifty-seven per cent, 7,525 boats amounting to 91,751 gross tons, of the coastal and inshore fishing boats are those of the size ranging 5G.T. to 30G.T., which are engaged mostly in draft-and gill-netting, angling, longlining, anchovy seining, squid fishing and set-netting. The important fishing boats forming main structure of the inshore fishing fleets can be classified as 5G.T.-class multi-purpose boats, 10G.T.-class angling/longlining boats and 20G.T.-class drift-/gill-netters mostly utilized in the east-sea, 15G.T.-class anchovy seiner in the south-sea-sea, 20G.T.- and 28G.T.-class stow-netters in the west sea. Each of the three sea regions, east, south, and west, of Korean water has distinctly different characters from one another in topography, geology and sea aspects, and consequently in marine resources, fishing grounds and fishing tactics desired. Hence, the finishing boats in each sea region have also their own characters in hull form, structural features, deck design and equipments. In this report, analyzing the characteristics of the existing inshore fishing boats ranging 5G.T. to 30G.T. in size from view points of naval architecture and engineering, the author made an integrated investigation of their characteristics, covering size and principal dimensions, hull form, deck design, structural features and mechanization, in close connection with the natural circumstances of Korean water and local techno-socio-economic problems, and, finally, made some suggestions for the rational improvement or modernization of the inshore fishing boats. Further details of the characteristics of Korean inshore finishing boats are referred to the drawings of them compiled by the author and given in the reference[23] listed at the end of this report.
