In this paper, a wideband adaptive beamforming approach for an acoustic vector sensor linear array is presented. It is a very important issue to estimate the stable covariance matrix for adaptive beamforming. In the conventional wideband adaptive beamforming based on coherent signal-subspace (CSS) processing, the error of bearing estimates is resulted from the focusing matrix estimation and the large number of data snapshot is necessary. To alleviate the estimation error and snapshot deficiency in estimating covariance matrix, the steered covariance matrix method in the pressure sensor is extended to the vector sensor array, and the subarray technique is incorporated. By this technique, more accurate azimuth estimates and a stable covariance matrix can be obtained with a small number of data snapshot. Through simulation, the azimuth estimation performance of the proposed beamforming method and a wideband adaptive beamforming based on CSS processing are assessed.

This paper presents the wideband vibration system of an electromagnetic vibration energy harvester that obtained electric power for wireless sensor applications from the ever-change vibrations of bridge. It is a system with two degree of freedom vibrations that are composed of two mass and two spring respectively. One system is housing mass and spring, the other is the magnetic mass and spring that is the vibration system construction's element of electromagnetic vibration energy harvester. In other words, it is called dynamic vibration absorber. This paper show that the ratio of housing mass to magnetic mass decides the bandwidth and the size of amplitude of magnetic mass in electromagnetic vibration energy harvester. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the efficiency of energy in electromagnetic vibration energy harvester for wireless sensor applications.

Wideband terminal and base station is required to serve not only existing 1st and 2nd generation mobile communication systems but also 3rd generation systems. In this paper, we present a feasibility study on coaxial feed compact wideband antenna for UHF RFID reader application. The original antenna was designed for partial discharge detection sensor in high voltage diagnostic system. However, we modified the original prototype to achieve shifted down resonant frequency for wideband wireless communication applications. The experimental result shows good return loss characteristics and radiation patterns except for the total gain at each resonant frequency. The maximum measured gain was 2.45 dBi$\sim$3.18 dBi at 910MHz.

Wideband terminal and base station is required to serve not only existing 1st and 2nd generation mobile communication systems but also 3rd generation systems. In this paper, we presents a feasibility study on single feed compact wideband antenna for wireless communication applications including GSM (890-960 MHz), GPS (1575 MHz), DCS (1710-1880 MHz), PCS (1880-1990 MHz), UMTS (1900-2200 MHz), ISM (2400-2480 MHz), IMT2000 and satellite DMB bands. The original antenna was designed for partial discharge detection sensor in high voltage diagnostic system. However, we modified the original prototype to achieve shifted down resonant frequency for wideband wireless communication applications. The optimal price strategy selection of two bounded rational cognitive mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) in a duopoly spectrum sharing market is investigated. The bounded rational operators dynamically compete to sell the leased spectrum to secondary users in order to maximize their profits. Meanwhile, the secondary users' heterogeneous preferences to rate and price are taken into consideration. The evolutionary game theory (EGT) is employed to model the dynamic price strategy selection of the MVNOs taking into account the response of the secondary users. The behavior dynamics and the evolutionary stable strategy (ESS) of the operators are derived via replicated dynamics. Furthermore, a reward and punishment mechanism is developed to optimize the performance of the operators. Numerical results show that the proposed evolutionary algorithm is convergent to the ESS, and the incentive mechanism increases the profits of the operators. It may provide some insight about the optimal price strategy selection for MVNOs in the next generation cognitive wireless networks.

This work presents an Internet of Things (IoT) system for home energy management based on a custom-designed Impulse Radio Ultra-Wideband (IR-UWB) transceiver that targets a generic and multi-standard control system. This control system enables the interoperability of heterogeneous devices: it integrates various sensor nodes based on ZigBee, EnOcean and UWB in the same middleware by utilizing an ad-hoc layer as an interface between the hardware and software. The paper presents as a first the design of the IR-UWB transceiver for a portable sensor node integrated with the middleware layer, and also describes the receiver connected to the control system. The custom-designed low-power transmitter on the sensor node is fabricated with 130 nm CMOS technology. It generates a signal with a 1.1 ns pulse width while consuming $39{\mu}W$ at 1 Mbps. The UWB sensor node with a temperature measurement capability consumes 5.31 mW, which is lower than the power level of state-of-the-art solutions for smart-home applications. The UWB hardware and software layers necessary to interface with the control system are verified in over-the-air measurements in an actual office environment. With the implementation of the presented sensor node and its integration in the energy management system, we demonstrate achievement of the broad flexibility demanded for IoT.

A switchable single-wideband (SWB)-to-dual-wideband (DWB) bandpass filter (BPF), which is realized by using lumped switches, is presented in this paper. By alternating the operation modes-ON and OFF-in which the ON mode is achieved by placing the capacitors at the switching spots and the OFF mode is achieved by replacing the capacitors with inductors, DWB-to-SWB BPF can be achieved on the same device. In addition, by changing the capacitor values, the center frequency (CF) of the lower passband of DWB BPF can be easily tuned from 1.69 GHz to 2.22 GHz, while the higher passband stays almost unchanged. As an example, an SWB-to-DWB BPF is designed, fabricated, and measured. This BPF exhibits good performance including wideband, high isolation, compact size, and ability to switch.

This paper deals with a filterbank based on the IMM (Interacting Multiple Model) that combines data from a sensor and uses them selectively depending on a level of maneuver. Furthermore, within the maneuver interval, the existing IMM filter has disadvantages such as unnecessary target estimation errors caused by using a constant velocity model and an increase of computation load because of a fixed structure. On the other hand, the proposed IMM filterbank overcomes these disadvantages by using three model groups and designs a filterbank to cope with a wideband-maneuvering target. The performances of the IMM filterbank was evaluated through comparison with the existing IMM via computer simulations. The results show good performances for a wideband-maneuvering target.
In this paper, we propose a new method to estimate the initial DOA of a new appearing source in wideband multisource beamforming and tacking with array sensor position calibration algorithm. By using a beampattern formula for initial DOA detection, the proposed method keeps estimation error within possible tracking range and can be applied to several beamformers with different mainlobe width by adjusting DOA resolution. The simulation results show the performances of source detection and tracking.
PD in air is accompanied by light, sound and electromagnetic wave. Light and sound can be prevented from blocking between PD sources and sensor but electromagnetic wave can be transferred to long distance without any interference an captured by antenna. This paper investigated the wideband antenna is appropriate for sensing Partial discharge in air. PD was generated from simulated PD source which consist of needle and flat electrode with small gap. Signals obtained from wideband antenna were diminished in both time and frequence region with the distance between PD source and antenna.
