  • In this paper, we conducted an empirical study to investigate the design and weighting effects on descriptive and analytic statistics. The design and weighting effects were calculated for estimates produced from the 1998 small firm survey data. We considered the design and weighting effects on coefficients estimates of regression model using the design-based approach and the GEE approach.

  • Mimosa and Quebracho are, in general, tanned with leather skin, finished silk fabrics according to temperature, treatment time, tannin concetration, pH, and studies that relation between tannin weighting and various factors. This makes fundamental study on characteristic of tannin treated fabrics. and the results are as fallows : 1. λ$_{max}$ was found at 278.5nm for Mimosa. 279.5nm for Quebracho. Also a stability was good in standing time and heating. 2. The higher tannin treatment temprature was, the better tannin weighting effect was. But they were slightly decreased at over 8$0^{\circ}C$, and K/S was slowly increased. 3. As tannin treatment time increased, tannin weighting effect increased but they were decreased at over 8$0^{\circ}C$, 90min. 4. As tannin concentration increased, tannin weighting was increased. 5. In tannin weighting effect according to various pH conditions, the it's best range of pH were 3.5~5.5 of Mimosa, 2.5~3.5 of Quebracho.o.

  • This paper is concerned with the application of the vision control algorithm with weighting matrix in robot point placement task. The proposed vision control algorithm involves four models, which are the robot kinematic model, vision system model, the parameter estimation scheme and robot joint angle estimation scheme. This proposed algorithm is to make the robot move actively, even if relative position between camera and robot, and camera's focal length are unknown. The parameter estimation scheme and joint angle estimation scheme in this proposed algorithm have form of nonlinear equation. In particular, the joint angle estimation model includes several restrictive conditions. For this study, the weighting matrix which gave various weighting near the target was applied to the parameter estimation scheme. Then, this study is to investigate how this change of the weighting matrix will affect the presented vision control algorithm. Finally, the effect of the weighting matrix of robot vision control algorithm is demonstrated experimentally by performing the robot point placement.

  • Matrix Pencil method is one of the promising method to estimate DOA in non-stationary, multi-path coherent environment. Not only the Matrix Pencil Method offers better resolution than the conventional approach using covariance matrix, but also it is computationally very efficient. In this paper, we presented an effect of unbalanced data weighting in the formulation of the Matrix Pencil method. A new formulation has been suggested to mitigate the effect of unbalanced data weighting. Numerical simulation demonstrated that the proposed method can successfully eliminate the problem of unbalanced data weighting.

  • In order to study the effect of mordanting on silk fabrics treated with tannin, those fabrics were treated with Al, Cu, Cr, Fe, Sn by pre and post mordanting. It was studied about color change, weighting effect, dgree of photodegradation by pre and post mordanting. The results are as fallows ; 1. On the addition of mordants into mimosa and tannic acid solution, &{\lambda}_{max}& of the former was slightly blue-shifted, on the other hand, &{\lambda}_{max}& of the latter was obviously Red-shifted. 2. In case of Cu, Cr, Pre mordanting, weighting effect were appeared. Weighting effect of silk fabrics treated with Tannic acid increased higher than mimosa by mordanting. 3. In color change, Silk fabrics treated with Mimosa and Tannic acid generally changed to red direction and fabrics treated with tannic acid changed to yellow direction by pre and post mordanting. 4. In the photodegradation, the degree of photodegradation on mordanted fabrics increased. Its degree was slack in Cu, Cr, Post mordanting. On the other hand, Al, Fe, Sn were greate. Silk fabrics treated with Mimosa and Tannic acid got inhibiting effect on photodegradation.

  • The weighting increase varies with the condition of tannin-weight process and effects dyeability and physical properties of silk. The purpose of this study is to investigate the optimum condition of tannin-weighting process of silk and the effect of tannin-weighting process on dyeability and properties of silk. The methods of this study are first to examine the change according to the variables such as, weight increase of silk, temperature(30, 50, 70, 80, 9$0^{\circ}C$), time(30, 60, 120, 180, 240, 300min), tannin concentration(3, 5, 10, 20, 30g/l) in order to present the optimum condition, sencond to examine the change of the properties such as surface morphology, strength, elongation, mechanical values, dyeing condition, Basic and Acid dye absorption on silk which are tannin-weight processed in the optimum condition.

  • In survival analysis of observational data, the inverse probability weighting method and the Cox proportional hazards model are widely used when estimating the causal effects of multiple-valued treatment. In this paper, the two kinds of weights have been examined in the inverse probability weighting method. We explain the reason why the stabilized weight is more appropriate when an inverse probability weighting method using the generalized propensity score is applied. We also emphasize that a marginal hazard ratio and the conditional hazard ratio should be distinguished when defining the hazard ratio as a treatment effect under the Cox proportional hazards model. A simulation study based on real data is conducted to provide concrete numerical evidence.

  • In this paper we introduce a method to optimize panel parameters and drive signals in a matrix-adressed bistable twsited-nematic (BTN) liquid crystal display (LCD) panel. We measured the effect of data pulses on optical switching characteristics in a BTN LC cell to model the effect theoretically. We introduce a weighting function to model the effect of data pulses on the switching energy as a function of time. Once the weighting function is known, we can estimate the maximum number of lines for multiplexing operation at a given frame rate by calculating the minimum data pulse width. By characterizing a unit cell as we change panel parameters (for example, d/p ratio), we can optimize parameters for high-speed operation. We found that our theoretical predictions agree very well with experimental results.

  • Quadratic weighting matrices have an effect on the transition and steady state responses in a LQ tracking problem. They are usually decided on trial and error in order to get a good response. In this paper a method is presented which calculates a steady - state deviation without solving Riccati equation. By using this method, a new procedure for selecting the weighting matrices is proposed when a tolerance on the steady - state deviation is given.

  • A method optimizing selection of a state weighting matrix is presented. The state weight-ing matrix is chosen so that the closed-loop system responses closely match to the ideal model responses. An algorithm is presented which determines a positive semidefinite state weighting matrix in the linear quadratic optimal control design problem and an numerical example is given to show the effect of the present algorithm.
