  • Recently, a new singular function(NSF) method was posed to get accurate numerical solution on quasi-uniform grids for two-dimensional Poisson and interface problems with domain singularities by the first author and his coworkers. Using the singular function representation of the solution, dual singular functions, and an extraction formula for stress intensity factors, the method poses a weak problem whose solution is in $H^2({\Omega})$ or $H^2({\Omega}_i)$. In this paper, we show that the singular functions, which are not in $H^2({\Omega})$, also satisfy the integration by parts and note that this fact suggests the possibility of different choice of the weak formulations. We show that the original choice of weak formulation of NSF method is critical.

  • This paper deals with very weak solutions of the A-harmonic equation $divA(x,{\nabla}u)$ = 0 (*) with the operator $A:{\Omega}{\times}R^n{\rightarrow}R^n$ satisfies some coercivity and controllable growth conditions with Muckenhoupt weight. By using the Hodge decomposition with weight, a regularity property is proved: There exists an integrable exponent $r_1=r_1({\lambda},n,p)$ < p, such that every very weak solution $u{\in}W_{loc}^{1,r}({\Omega},{\omega})$ with $r_1$ < r < p belongs to $W_{loc}^{1,p}({\Omega},{\omega})$. That is, u is a weak solution to (*) in the usual sense.

  • In this paper, we investigate the stability of positive weak solution for the singular p-Laplacian nonlinear system $-div[{\mid}x{\mid}^{-ap}{\mid}{\nabla}u{\mid}^{p-2}{\nabla}u]+m(x){\mid}u{\mid}^{p-2}u={\lambda}{\mid}x{\mid}^{-(a+1)p+c}b(x)f(u)$ in ${\Omega}$, Bu = 0 on ${\partial}{\Omega}$, where ${\Omega}{\subset}R^n$ is a bounded domain with smooth boundary $Bu={\delta}h(x)u+(1-{\delta})\frac{{\partial}u}{{\partial}n}$ where ${\delta}{\in}[0,1]$, $h:{\partial}{\Omega}{\rightarrow}R^+$ with h = 1 when ${\delta}=1$, $0{\in}{\Omega}$, 1 < p < n, 0 ${\leq}$ a < ${\frac{n-p}{p}}$, m(x) is a weight function, the continuous function $b(x):{\Omega}{\rightarrow}R$ satisfies either b(x) > 0 or b(x) < 0 for all $x{\in}{\Omega}$, ${\lambda}$ is a positive parameter and $f:[0,{\infty}){\rightarrow}R$ is a continuous function. We provide a simple proof to establish that every positive solution is unstable under certain conditions.

  • We obtain spatial-temporal decay rates of weak solutions of incompressible flows in exterior domains. When a domain has a boundary, the pressure term yields difficulties since we do not have enough information on the pressure term near the boundary. For our calculations we provide an idea which does not require any pressure information. We also estimated the spatial and temporal asymptotic behavior for strong solutions.

  • In this paper, without assumption of monotonicity, we study the compactness and the connectedness of the weakly efficient solutions set to vector equilibrium problems by using scalarization method in locally convex spaces. Our results improve the corresponding results in [X. H. Gong, Connectedness of the solution sets and scalarization for vector equilibrium problems, J. Optim. Theory Appl. 133 (2007), 151-161].

  • Upper bounds of the perturbed Co-semigroups of the infinite dimensional systems are investigated by using the algebraic Riccati equation(ARE). In the case that the solution P of the ARE is strictly positive, the perturbed semigroups are uniformly bounded. A sufficient condition for the solution P to be strictly positive is provided. The uniform boundedness plays an important role in extending approximately weak stability to weak stability on th whole space. Exponential Stability of the perturbed semigroups is studied by using the Young's inequlity. Some further discussions on the uniform boundedness of the perturbed semigroups are given.

  • The vector wave equation is widely used in electromagnetic wave analysis. This paper solves the vector wave equation using curl-conforming finite elements. The variational problem is established from Riesz functional based on vector wave equation and the unique existence of weak solution is explored. The edge elements are used in computation and the simulation results are compared with those obtained from a commercial simulator, ANSYS HFSS (high-frequency structure simulator).
