In this study, basic strategies for the decommissioning and site remediation of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (FDNPS) were investigated. Six scenarios were formulated based on two of the three decommissioning strategies of nuclear power plants defined by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA): immediate dismantling and deferred dismantling. A multicriteria decision analysis was performed to analyze the preferences of the options from the viewpoints of the timeframe to complete decommissioning, the resulting waste, the site usability, and the availability of the radioactive waste disposal route. The same six scenarios were applied to both the FDNPS and the nuclear power plants that ceased operation after a normal plant life cycle for comparison. For the FDNPS, the decommissioning project involved fuel debris retrieval, dismantling, and site remediation. The analysis results suggest that the balance between the amount of waste and the time to achieve the end state may be one of the most critical factors to consider when planning the decommissioning and site remediation of the FDNPS.
China's e-waste enterprises can decompose 150 million sets of e-waste every year, but in fact, only about 50% of the e-waste goes into formal recycling due to the informal recycling of individual small businesses. The purpose of this paper is to put forward the method for users to improve the reuse times through regular e-waste recycling enterprises. This paper constructs the evaluation factors of reuse logistics service through prior research. Exogenous variables are mainly composed of the management system, economics, resources, policies, social perspectives, and service quality. In addition, the authors choose intention to reuse as an endogenous variable. A total of 335 questionnaires were collected to conduct the research with the structural equation modeling. The results reject the hypothesis that economics, resources, and social perspectives have a positive impact on reuse. On the contrary, management systems, policies, and service quality have a positive impact on reuse. Implications were suggested in the last part of the research.

In the study, current status of waste plastic recycling was investigated. Some factors to obstruct recycling of waste plastic was analyzed. These factors include the difficulty of obtaining location and man power, unclear marking of recyclable plastic and inefficient rate in producer and consumer deposit system. Life cycle assessment(LCA) study was performed to investigate the environmental impact of waste plastic(PET) recycling. When the recycled raw plastic material is used together with the virgin raw plastic material, all the environmental impact showed (-) value except ozone depletion impact category. The environmental avoided impact was the greatest in the global warming impact category. For active promotion of recycling activity, source separation system of waste plastic should be established first of all. Also, marking system of the recycling waste plastic should be made more clear so that consumers can understand it easily. Other strategies include the determination of decent rate for producer and consumer deposit system, establishment of infrastructure and information system for waste plastic recycling and citizen's cooperation through intensive public education.

This paper is to study on the decommissioning cost estimation for nuclear facilities of advanced nuclear organizations and countries for deriving the cost factors to be taken considerations into accomplishing decommissioning projects. Of cost categories producing the factors of decommissioning costs, dismantling and waste processing & disposals activities are examined to increase the its costs. Of labor, materials and other costs categories, labor costs are summarized to have overall majorities in the decommissioning cost factors. The main parameters of all factors affecting the decommissioning costs are analyzed as work difficulty, regional labor costs, peripheral cost, disposal cost and final burial costs.

The rolling-stocks used in conventional line have suffered wheel problems due to lack of adaptability with track. These brought out severe wheel wear and inefficiency of wheel maintenance. Especially, tight wheel maintenance criteria have caused waste factors of wheel machining, these increases rolling-stock maintenance costs. Thus, this study was started to Propose the wheel maintenance plans to improve maintenance efficiency in respect to wheel maintenance process in rolling-stock workshop. Here, we describe some results
In terms of waste load allocation, inequality of waste load discharge must be considered as well as economic aspects such as minimization of waste load abatement. The inequality of waste load discharge between areas was calculated with Gini coefficient and was included as one of the objective functions of the multi-objective waste load allocation. In the past, multi-objective functions were usually weighted and then transformed into a single objective optimization problem. Recently, however, due to the difficulties of applying weighting factors, multi-objective genetic algorithms (GA) that require only one execution for optimization is being developed. This study analyzes multi-objective waste load allocation using NSGA-II-aJG that applies Pareto-dominance theory and it's adaptation of jumping gene. A sensitivity analysis was conducted for the parameters that have significant influence on the solution of multi-objective GA such as population size, crossover probability, mutation probability, length of chromosome, jumping gene probability. Among the five aforementioned parameters, mutation probability turned out to be the most sensitive parameter towards the objective function of minimization of waste load abatement. Spacing and maximum spread are indexes that show the distribution and range of optimum solution, and these two values were the optimum or near optimal values for the selected parameter values to minimize waste load abatement.
Zero-waste pattern cutting is a groundbreaking sustainable fashion practice. However, few brands and designers have pursued this method because it requires creative pattern design that diverges from the existing process of using pattern slopers. Therefore, application within the fashion industry is not sufficient. Therefore, in an attempt to highlight the key characteristics of zero-waste pattern design, this study classifies and analyzes cases in which similar designs employ zero-waste pattern-cutting techniques. We hope to make zero-waste pattern design more accessible by presenting realistic pattern-cutting guidelines. To this end, theoretical research on relevant literature, previous research, and online resources and an empirical analysis of cases involving zero-waste pattern cutting were conducted in parallel. As a result of the study, we were able to classify the factors of zero-waste pattern design in terms of fabric use, design, and composition. Regarding materials, our research revealed the importance of appropriate fabric width, understanding the difference between waste minimization and minimal fabric use, and easy reuse and recycling. In terms of design, the simultaneous progress of pattern and design work, adjustable loose silhouettes, and the use of surplus fabric for functional and decorative details emerged as key characteristics. For composition, we found that size adjustment limits, arrangement irregularity, and pattern shapes were crucial elements and that various arrangements revealed unlimited design potential.

As environmental sustainability becomes a key consideration in policy-making, more responsible consumption and utilization in daily life concern both health and quality of life. To address inequities in health in relation to environments, waste management has taken more progressive ways, and one of them is biomass-to-energy conversion that utilizes energy recovery from food waste. By extension, a food waste zero-emission system using fermentation and extinction technology gains much attention, so that this study is designed to examine residents' attitudes toward recycling food waste produced at home and toward food waste zero-emission system. Utilizing a survey questionnaire, this research collected data from 400 individual units of multifamily housing estates nationwide, and the data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings indicate that food waste generated at home was highly water-contained and produced in the stage of food preparation before cooking while respondents viewed that food waste collection and treatment needed to be improved. It's noted that respondents strongly supported the use of food waste as a energy source and would have the use of the food waste zero-emission system built in kitchen sink. Regression analysis showed that educational attainment of housewives, cooking style, and planning food purchase were statistically significant factors in the attitude of the responded residents toward recycling food waste while none of the factors were in the attitude toward the food waste zero-emission system.

In 1995 Kimchi refrigerator was developed at first, and has used HFC-134a as refrigerant. Kimchi refrigerator has been made 1,044,694 on the basis of 2010, disposed about 160,000 per year. Although mobile air conditioning, commercial refrigerator, general refrigerator is regarded as a major source of HFC-134a, little information is available for its emission characteristics of HFC-134a. This paper addresses the fugitive emission factors of Kimchi refrigerator at use-phase and disposal-phase. The residual quantities of Korean-made fifty three waste Kimchi refrigerators were weighed using a commercial recover of refrigerants to determine the emission factors at the disposal-phase. On the other hand, the emission factors at use-phase were estimated from the residual quantities and operating times. The average residual rate of forty three scarp Kimchi refrigerators is determined to be $74.6{\pm}5.2%$. The emission factor at the use-phase is estimated to be $3.5{\pm}0.8%/yr$ as a result of using average age of 11.7 years and the average residual rate determined here. The emission factor at the disposal-phase is determined to be 31.3% after adopting 58% of the recycling rate of refrigerant reported by Recycling Center. We estimate 3.1 g/yr for the average emission quantity of HFC-134a per operating refrigerator, while 22.5 g for that per waste Kimchi refrigerator. Since the chemical compositions of refrigerant of waste Kimchi refrigerator were the same as those of new refrigerant, it is expected that the HFC-134a recovered from waste Kimchi refrigerator can be reused for refrigerant.

Recently, the construction wastes increase rapidly due to the revitalization of reconstruction and redevelopment, the development of new urbanization of large housing development, the expansion of social infrastructure, and so on. To solve rapid increase of construction waste, the government established "the rule on the promotion of recycling of construction waste" in December, 2003. According to the rule, construction wastes can be recycled by either processing on commission or discharger of construction waste. This study proved the validation of site recycling for construction waste as economic efficiency is analyzed through the case study of site recycling at large housing development district. Using the sensitivity analysis, factors affecting the cost of site recycling was analyzed and the break-even point for the cost of site recycling was estimated according to the factors.
