구글 트렌드 빅데이터를 통한 바이오의약품의 시장 점유율 분석과 추정 (Analysis and Estimation for Market Share of Biologics based on Google Trends Big Data)

  • Google Trends is a useful tool not only for setting search periods, but also for providing search volume to specific countries, regions, and cities. Extant research showed that the big data from Google Trends could be used for an on-line market analysis of opinion sensitive products instead of an on-site survey. This study investigated the market share of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) inhibitor, which is in a great demand pharmaceutical product, based on big data analysis provided by Google Trends. In this case study, the consumer interest data from Google Trends were compared to the actual product sales of Top 3 TNF-α inhibitors (Enbrel, Remicade, and Humira). A correlation analysis and relative gap were analyzed by statistical analysis between sales-based market share and interest-based market share. Besides, in the country-specific analysis, three major countries (USA, Germany, and France) were selected for market share analysis for Top 3 TNF-α inhibitors. As a result, significant correlation and similarity were identified by data analysis. In the case of Remicade's biosimilars, the consumer interest in two biosimilar products (Inflectra and Renflexis) increased after the FDA approval. The analytical data showed that Google Trends is a powerful tool for market share estimation for biosimilars. This study is the first investigation in market share analysis for pharmaceutical products using Google Trends big data, and it shows that global and regional market share analysis and estimation are applicable for the interest-sensitive products.

포인트 프리미티브를 이용한 실시간 볼륨 렌더링 기법 (Real-time Volume Rendering using Point-Primitive)

  • 직접 볼륨 렌더링은 반투명한 물체에 대한 고화질 영상 생성이 가능한 기법으로 광선 투사법이 대표적이다. 이것은 각 화소별로 오브젝트 공간상의 관심 영역을 샘플링하기 때문에 높은 해상도의 영상을 생성할 수 있지만, 각 샘플점마다 반복적으로 수행하는 텍스처 참조와 누적연산 때문에 렌더링 성능이 저하되는 문제가 있다. 최근에는 연산 능력이 매우 커진 GPU를 이용해 광선 투사법을 가속화하는 기법들이 많이 연구되고 있지만 이들 역시 전처리 단계 및 추가적인 메모리 사용이 불가피하다. 본 논문에서는 반투명 물체의 표현이 가능하고, 전처리 과정 및 추가적인 텍스처 메모리를 사용하지 않으면서 기존의 방법들보다 고속으로 볼륨 데이터를 가시화할 수 있는 포인트 프리미티브 기반의 새로운 볼륨 렌더링기법을 제안한다. 이 방법은 볼륨 데이터를 샘플링하여 포인트 프리미티브를 생성하고 이를 이미지 평면상에 투영하는 방식으로 수행속도가 매우 빠르다. 또한, 생성된 포인트 프리미티브를 실행시간에 추가 및 삭제할 수 있기 때문에 OTF를 변경해도 실시간 대응이 가능하다.

Bootstrap simulation for quantification of uncertainty in risk assessment

  • The choice of input distribution in quantitative risk assessments modeling is of great importance to get unbiased overall estimates, although it is difficult to characterize them in situations where data available are too sparse or small. The present study is particularly concerned with accommodation of uncertainties commonly encountered in the practice of modeling. The authors applied parametric and non-parametric bootstrap simulation methods which consist of re-sampling with replacement, in together with the classical Student-t statistics based on the normal distribution. The implications of these methods were demonstrated through an empirical analysis of trade volume from the amount of chicken and pork meat imported to Korea during the period of 1998-2005. The results of bootstrap method were comparable to the classical techniques, indicating that bootstrap can be an alternative approach in a specific context of trade volume. We also illustrated on what extent the bias corrected and accelerated non-parametric bootstrap method produces different estimate of interest, as compared by non-parametric bootstrap method.

  • In this Paper, We use Maximum-Intensity Projection(MIP) algorithms. Maximum-Intensity Projection algorithms currently used for construction of magnetic resonance angiograms. The blood flow in a volume of interest is represented by bright intensities in the MR data volume. The flow within the vasculature shows up in the projections plane. By relating the intensities of the pixel to their location in the slice, the total number of pixels considered for the projection plane was reduced, thus saving calculation time. The algorithm was written in visual C++.

A Study on Prediction of Traffic Volume Using Road Management Big Data

  • In reflection of road expansion and increasing use rates, interest has blossomed in predicting driving environment. In addition, a gigantic scale of big data is applied to almost every area around the world. Recently, technology development is being promoted in the area of road traffic particularly for traffic information service and analysis system in utilization of big data. This study examines actual cases of road management systems and road information analysis technologies, home and abroad. Based on the result, the limitations of existing technologies and road management systems are analyzed. In this study, a development direction and expected effort of the prediction of road information are presented. This study also examines regression analysis about relationship between guide name and traffic volume. According to the development of driving environment prediction platform, it will be possible to serve more reliable road information and also it will make safe and smart road infrastructures.

  • The inflow rate is of interest in the design of underground structures such as tunnels and buried pipes below the groundwater table. Soil permeability governing the inflow rate significantly affects the hydro-geological behavior of soils but is difficult to estimate due to its wide range of distribution, nonlinearity and anisotropy. Volume changes induced by stress can cause nonlinear stress-strain behavior, resulting in corresponding permeability changes. In this paper, the nonlinearity and anisotropy of permeability are investigated by conducting Rowe cell tests, and a nonlinear permeability model considering anisotropy was proposed. Model modification and parameter evaluation for field application were also addressed. Significance of nonlinear permeability was illustrated by carrying out numerical analysis of a tunnel. It is highlighted that the effect of nonlinear permeability is significant in soils of which volume change is considerable, and particularly appears in the short-term flow behavior.

  • A high energy ignition system is essential for lean burn or high EGR gasoline engine, which is getting more and more interest to improve fuel economy. The high energy ignition systems comprise plasma jet, laser beam, corona discharge and so on. In this study, a high energy ignition system using corona discharge is developed and tested in a constant volume combustion chamber. The developed system shows extension of lean limit of propane-air mixture and enhencement of combustion speed. Various shape of corona discharge plugs are also tested and compared in this study.

  • To understand the trends in research in the fields of physical therapy, all issues of the Journal of Korean Society of Physical Therapy were reviewed from volume 1 in 1989 to volume 13, number 2 in 2001 in regard to research themes, research objects, and research designs. The number of articles dramatically increased in recent years. Although exercise physiology, biomechanics, and therapeutic exercise were major subjects of interest, alternative treatment modalities such as massage, taping, acupuncture were fields of increasing interests. There were also increasing interests in medical engineering and basic science. Cerebrovascular accidents, elderly people, sportsmen were research objects of increasing frequency. In regard to research designs, experimental research designs such as randomized controlled designs and nonequivalent controlled designs were increasingly adopted in clinical research.

  • Recently the interest in wireless power transfer have been studied. ECR (Electromagnetic Coupled Resonance) device, depending on the size of the frequency characteristics of the structure, increasing in volume and larger volume of wireless power transmission device to make use of ECR is a big barrier. So to solve this problem for ECR device miniaturization and high efficiency has been actively studied. In this paper, the size of the device for ECR IM (Impedance Matching) by applying a one-turn coil circuit, remove the device in the form of ECR Network Analyzer measured by removing the one-turn coil has demonstrated the possibility of the device in the form of ECR.

Teaching and Learning Models for Mathematics using Mathematica (I)

  • In this paper, we give examples of models we have created for use in university mathematics courses. We explain the concept of linear transformation, investigate the roles of each component of 2 ${\times}$ 2 and 3 ${\times}$ 3 transformation matrices, consider the relation between sound and trigonometry, visualize the Riemann sum, the volume of surfaces of revolution and the area of unit circle. This paper illustrates how one can use Mathematica to visualize abstract mathematical concepts, thus enabling students to understand mathematics problems effectively in class. Development of these kinds of teaching and learning models can stimulate the students' curiosity about mathematics and increase their interest.
