  • Basic lot tests via textile and visual examinations are conducted on FA carried into in-service RMCs. The system of evaluating quality by taking samples from each lot and examining them, or evaluating quality based on the score reports submitted by the deliverer during in-service training have on some instances been called into doubt as to their reliability in evaluating the quality of FA. Therefore this study sought to measure the density value of FA that is actually delivered to RMC companies according to the Hydrometer method and analyze its correlation to its test scores, to in turn analyze the reliability of the test reports and the characteristics of the quality of FA. The results led to the conclusion that the fineness and density marked on the score reports were problematic, and therefore accurate experiments and adjustment of significant digits on the test report are necessary.

  • This study identifies the features of landscape elements on the fifteen districts with the idea of land use area and visual quantity of pictures by analyzing the air photo. Therefore, the sensibility of observer is comprehended through simulating the landscape evaluation and the landscape preference with using slide film. The study is divided into three periods to understand the transition of rural landscape as the social and cultural environments have been changed. The first period is the New Community Movement which affected the rapid change of social and cultural environments. The second and third periods are the prior and post time at the rearrangement of administration district in the Tae-Jeon Broad City. The result of this study is explained below part; 1. The transition of rural landscape has been occurred as the land use pattern has been altered. The change of pattern has affected an increase of the natural space and the structure change of agricultural productive space. 2. In the regression analysis, the regression model of landscape preference and land use ratio show; Landscape preference = 3.632 - 11.618 (Residential Area) - 4.227 (Equipped Farm). The explanation variables defined as Residential Area and Equipped Farm, and the relationship of those factors shows negative. Therefore, the increase of other building will make the rural landscape lower and worse.

  • The aim of this research is to explore the potential of analogy and metaphor as design strategies for supporting the creative design thinking. For the empirical research on analogical and metaphoric process in designing, we conducted design experiments that consist of three different conditions of given items as stimulation for design inspiration: baseline, surrealist paintings, and housing design collections. The results were analyzed using a protocol analysis in order to obtain more systmatic interpretation of the design processes and strategies. As a result, it was noted that students are more apt to read visual information rather than semantic information in the given items. Instead of the representation of their senses or feelings from the paintings, they visualized the analogical images of the paintings for the design representation. However, analogical and metaphoric thinking derived from the given items seem change a designer's perspective, thus bring a novel interpretation on design problems, and eventually more creative and meaningful design ideas. An extended research using one-semester training and observation of the design studio process is introduced as a follow-up study for this paper. This research will investigate the long-term effect of the analogy and metaphor on the design thinking.

  • The use of hand gesture provides an attractive alternative to cumbersome interface devices for human-computer interaction(HCI). Many methods hand gesture recognition using visual analysis have been proposed such as syntactical analysis, neural network(NN), Hidden Markov Model(HMM) and so on. In our research, a HMMs is proposed for alphabetical hand gesture recognition. In the preprocessing stage, the proposed approach consists of three different procedures for hand localization, hand tracking and gesture spotting. The hand location procedure detects the candidated regions on the basis of skin-color and motion in an image by using a color histogram matching and time-varying edge difference techniques. The hand tracking algorithm finds the centroid of a moving hand region, connect those centroids, and thus, produces a trajectory. The spotting a feature database, the proposed approach use the mesh feature code for codebook of HMM. In our experiments, 1300 alphabetical and 1300 untrained gestures are used for training and testing, respectively. Those experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach yields a higher and satisfying recognition rate for the images with different sizes, shapes and skew angles.

  • This study investigates the effects of consumer innovativeness on e-loyalty mediated by shopping mall attributes and consumer satisfaction with the Internet. Data were obtained from 243 consumers who had bought fashion products through online shopping. Data were analyzed by using factor analysis, Cronbach's alpha, and path analysis using LISREL 8.53 program. The results of this study suggest that the consumer innovativeness, such as Internet-innovativeness and Fashion-innovativeness affect shopping mall attributes including Loading, Visual, Information, Variety, and Price/Fashion. These attributes and the shopping mall satisfaction partially mediated the impact of consumer innovativeness on e-loyalty of shopping malls through the Internet. Especially, consumer satisfaction was the most important determinant to build up e-loyalty for the online shopping of fashion products. The findings provide implications for e-retailers to develop strategies related to consumer innovativeness, shopping mall attributes, and the e-loyalty of shopping malls for fashion products.

  • In this paper, we analyzed the effect of wavelet decomposition levels in feature extraction for anomaly detection from hyperspectral imagery. After wavelet analysis, anomaly detection was experimentally performed using the RX detector algorithm to analyze the detecting capabilities. From the experiment for anomaly detection using CASI imagery, the characteristics of extracted features and the changes of their patterns showed that radiance curves were simplified as wavelet transform progresses and H bands did not show significant differences between target anomaly and background in the previous levels. The results of anomaly detection and their ROC curves showed the best performance when using the appropriate sub-band decided from the visual interpretation of wavelet analysis which was L band at the decomposition level where the overall shape of profile was preserved. The results of this study would be used as fundamental information or guidelines when applying wavelet transform to feature extraction and selection from hyperspectral imagery. However, further researches for various anomaly targets and the quantitative selection of optimal decomposition levels are needed for generalization.

  • Edge detection in images has been widely used in image processing system and computer vision. Morphological edge detection has used structuring elements with fixed shapes. This paper presents morphological operators with non-fixed shape kernels, or amoebas, which take into account the image contour variations to adapt their shape. Experimental results are analyzed in both qualitative analysis through visual inspection and quantitative analysis with PFOM and ROC curves. The Experiments demonstrate that these novel operators outperform classical morphological operations with a fixed, space-invariant structuring elements for edge detection applications.

  • Design programs of tube-sheet for heat exchanger based on the related engineering society codes have been widely used. But it is not easy fer beginners to use the design programs. So we need to develop an easy program for design of tube-sheet for heat exchanger. This paper describes a developed design-program of tube-sheet fur heat exchanger. The developed program was coded on boiler theory and pressure vessel codes, provided by TEMA(Tubular Exchanger Manufactures Association) and ASME(American Society of Mechanical Engineers). Visual Basic, which is convenient for beginners to deal with, was used in the programming. Also a finite element analysis of tube-sheet for heat exchanger was carried to verify this developed program by using a commercial software, ANSYS. In the finite element analysis, tube and tube-sheet of heat exchanger were substituted by solid plate having equivalent properties for convenience of calculation. The thickness of tube-sheet obtained by the developed design-program was in good agreement with that of tube-sheet by FEA.

  • We propose a new saliency map model for selecting an attended location in an arbitrary visual scene, which is one of the most important characteristics of human vision system. In selecting an attended location, an edge information can be considered as a feature basis to construct the saliency map. Edge filters are obtained from the independent component analysis(ICA) that is the best way to find independent edges in natural gray scenes. In order to reflect the non-uniform density in our retina, we use a multi-scaled pyramid input image instead of using an original input image. Computer simulation results show that the proposed saliency map model with multi-scale property successfully generates the plausible attended locations.
