The Generator Excitation Control Based on the Quasi-sliding Mode Pseudo-variable Structure Control

  • As an essential means of generator voltage regulation, excitation control plays an important role in controlling the stability of the power system. Therefore, the reasonable design of an excitation controller can help improve the system stability. In order to raise the robustness of the generator exciting system under outside interference and parametric perturbation and eliminate chattering in the sliding mode control, this paper presents a generator excitation control based on the quasi-sliding mode pseudo-variable structure control. A mathematical model of the synchronous generator is established by selecting its power, speed and voltage deviation as state variables. Then, according to the existing conditions of the quasi-sliding mode, a quasi-sliding mode pseudo-variable structure controller is designed, and the parameters of the controller are obtained with the method of pole configuration. Simulations show that compared with the existing methods, the proposed method is not only useful for accurate voltage regulation, but also beneficial to improving the robustness of the system at a time when perturbance happens in the system.

Improved Excitation Coding for 13 kbps Variable Rate QCELP Coder

  • This paper reports on the optimal design of the excitation codebook in the 13 kbps variable rate QCELP coder of Korean speech. We present two optimal excitation codebooks which consist of 128 and 556 samples, respectively. For the design and test of the improved codebook, a data base of Korean speech is used. A quasi-Newton optimization algorithm was developed to design the codebook. The optimized codebook which remains sparse, can produce an average gain of 0.84 and 0.45 dB in SNR and SEGSNR respectively. Informal listening tests confirm the improvement in speech quality.

  • In this study, it is presented a vibration cause of an electronic forklift by a variable excitation through experimental methods. It is presented a vibration influence by a variable excitation and established an FE model about structure vibration. It is used an FE model and presented parameters causing the vibration. It is presented a mechanism causing the vibration of the electronic forklift and proposed a vibration reduction of the electronic forklift.

  • 본 논문에서는 음원신호의 새로운 동적 모델링 기법을 제안하였다. 제안된 동적 모델링 기법을 적용하여, 평균 3.8Kbps와 4.4 Kbps에서 작동하는 두개의 가변 저 전송을 호모몰픽 보코더를 구현하였다. 본 논문에서 제시한 모델링 기법의 성능은 청음 테스트를 사용하여 분석하였으며, 청음 테스트에서는 본 논문에서 구현한 두개의 코더가 기존의 정적 음원 모델링 방법을 사용하여 Chung과 Schafer에 의하여 구현된 4.8Kbps 호모몰픽 보코더가 비교되었다. 제안된 동적 음원 모델링 기법이 음성통신의 평균 전송율을 낮추면서, 반면에 합성된 음의 음질을 향상시킴을, 청음 테스트를 통하여 보였다.

  • The asymptotic convergence of a coupled dynamic system, which is motivated from infinite dimensional adaptive systems, is investigated. The convergence analysis is formulated in abstract Banch spaces and is shown to applicable to a broad class of infinite dimensional systems including adaptive identification and adaptive control. Particularly it is shown that if a uniquely existing solution is p-th power integrable, then the solution converges to zero asymptotically. The persistence of excitation(PE) of a signal which arises in an infinite dimensional adaptive system is investigated. The PE property is not completely known yet for infinite dimensional adaptive systems, however it should be investigated in relation to spatial variable, boundary conditions as well as time variable.

Family of smart tuned mass dampers with variable frequency under harmonic excitations and ground motions: closed-form evaluation

  • A family of smart tuned mass dampers (STMDs) with variable frequency and damping properties is analyzed under harmonic excitations and ground motions. Two types of STMDs are studied: one is realized by a semi-active independently variable stiffness (SAIVS) device and the other is realized by a pendulum with an adjustable length. Based on the feedback signal, the angle of the SAIVS device or the length of the pendulum is adjusted by using a servomotor such that the frequency of the STMD matches the dominant excitation frequency in real-time. Closed-form solutions are derived for the two types of STMDs under harmonic excitations and ground motions. Results indicate that a small damping ratio (zero damping is the best theoretically) and an appropriate mass ratio can produce significant reduction when compared to the case with no tuned mass damper. Experiments are conducted to verify the theoretical result of the smart pendulum TMD (SPTMD). Frequency tuning of the SPTMD is implemented through tracking and analyzing the signal of the excitation using a short time Fourier transformation (STFT) based control algorithm. It is found that the theoretical model can predict the structural responses well. Both the SAIVS STMD and the SPTMD can significantly attenuate the structural responses and outperform the conventional passive TMDs.

  • Variable-flux permanent-magnet machines (VFPM) are of great interest and many different machine topologies have been documented. This paper categorizes VFPM machine topologies with regard to the method of flux variation and further, in the case of hybrid excited machines with field coils, with regard to the location of the excitation sources. The different VFPM machines are reviewed and compared in terms of their torque density, complexity and their ability to vary the flux.

  • 코드북 기반의 CELP 부호기는 코드북에 미리 할당된 부호화 비트율에 따라서 여기 신호를 모델링한 후 코드북을 이용하여 음성신호를 합성한다. 따라서 임의의 다양한 비트율을 하나의 부호기에서 지원하지 못하는 단점이 있다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 가변 비트율 부호기는 웨이블렛 변환 (wavelet transform과 1차원 SPIHr (one dimensional SPIHT)를 이용하여 현재 프레임에 할당되는 비트수에 따라서 여기신호를 부호화한다. 또한 CELP 부호기의 경우처럼 특정한 몇 가지 형태로 여기신호(또는 코드북)를 모델링할 필요가 없고, 정확한 피치정보가 없어도 여기신호를 사용자의 요구에 따라 다양한 비트율로 부호화할 수 있다. 그 결과 코드북이 존재하지 않기 때문에 부호기의 복잡도가 낮으며, CELP 기반의 G.729와 G.723.1 부호기와의 음질 비교 결과 동등하거나 나은 결과를 보여준다.

  • The present study investigates the sloshing phenomena in a two-dimensional rectangular tank at a low filling level by using a level set method based on finite volume method. The code validations are performed by comparing between the present results and previous numerical and experimental results, which gives a good agreement. Various excitation frequencies and excitation amplitude of the 30% filling height tank have been considered in order to observe the dependence of the sloshing behavior on the excitation frequency and amplitude. Regardless of excitation amplitude, the maximum value of wall pressure occurs when the excitation frequency reaches the natural frequency. The time sequence of free surface and corresponding streamlines for excitation frequencies have been presented to analysis the variation of wall pressure according to time, which contributes to explain the double peaks in the time variation of wall pressure.

  • In this study, the analytical method to evaluate the response of rotor-bearing system subjected to base excitation was presented. The equations of motion contain speed dependent gyroscopic terms, base rotation dependent parametric terms and several forcing function terms which depend on linear accelerations, rotational accelerations and a combination of linear and rotational combination. The study of rotor-bearing system excited by its base motion is not only able to predict the rotational performance, but provides the fundamental data for vibration isolation. In order to illustrate transient response, transient response analysis of a practical application sample were performed. The transient response was carried out for the given base excitation by using the state-space Newmark method that incorporates the average velocity concept.
