Thermal buckling of functionally graded plates using a n-order four variable refined theory

  • This paper presents a simple n-order four variable refined theory for buckling analysis of functionally graded plates. By dividing the transverse displacement into bending and shear parts, the number of unknowns and governing equations of the present theory is reduced, and hence, makes it simple to use. The present theory is variationally consistent, uses the n-order polynomial term to represent the displacement field, does not require shear correction factor, and eliminates the shear stresses at the top and bottom surfaces. A power law distribution is used to describe the variation of volume fraction of material compositions. Equilibrium and stability equations are derived based on the present n-order refined theory. The non-linear governing equations are solved for plates subjected to simply supported boundary conditions. The thermal loads are assumed to be uniform, linear and non-linear distribution through-the-thickness. The effects of aspect and thickness ratios, gradient index, on the critical buckling are all discussed.

Analysis of axisymmetric fractional vibration of an isotropic thin disc in finite deformation

  • This study investigates axisymmetric fractional vibration of an isotropic hyperelastic semi-linear thin disc with a view to examine effects of finite deformation associated with the material of the disc and effects of fractional vibration associated with the motion of the disc. The generalized three-dimensional equation of motion is reduced to an equivalent time fraction one-dimensional vibration equation. Using the method of variable separable, the resulting equation is further decomposed into second-order ordinary differential equation in spatial variable and fractional differential equation in temporal variable. The obtained solution of the fractional vibration problem under consideration is described by product of one-parameter Mittag-Leffler and Bessel functions in temporal and spatial variables respectively. The obtained solution reduces to the solution of the free vibration problem in literature. Finally, and amongst other things, the Cauchy's stress distribution in thin disc under finite deformation exhibits nonlinearity with respect to the displacement fields whereas in infinitesimal deformation hypothesis, these stresses exhibit linear relation with the displacement field.

  • Variable-displacement pumps are inherently more efficeint than fixed-displacement pumps under varying loads. Their energy-saving characteristics can be improved by the use of special control. This paper shows the improvement of the system by the use of load-sesing technique.

A Role of Local Influence in Selecting Regressors

  • A procedure for selecting regressors in the linear regression model is suggested using local influence approach. Under an appropriate perturbation scheme, the effect of perturbation of regressors on the profile log-likelihood displacement is assessed for variable selection. A numerical example is provided for illustration.

  • 본 연구는 RTK-GPS (Real Time Kinematic-Global Positioning System) 측위법을 이용한 변위 계측 결과, 가속도계를 이용한 변위계측 결과, 그리고 LVDT(Linear variable differential transformer)의 변위계측 결과를 비교하여 RTK-GPS와 가속도계 센서를 구조물에 적용할 때의 문제점들을 파악하였다. 또한, 관측빈도와 측위 정확도를 향상시킨 RTK-GPS와 가속도계를 이용한 변위계측 결과를 통합 계산하여 절대변위인 LVDT와 비교를 통해 생성된 통합 변위의 정확도와 타당성을 확인하였다.

  • Recently, a concern to verify the displacement capacity of shear wall has been arised to produce suitable data for the performance based design. In this paper, a process is presented In evaluate the displacement capacity of shear wall. The displacement of shear wall is expressed as the superpositopn of shear and flexural deformation. Variable crack angle truss model with a modification and existing analysis program(XTRACT) are used in calculating shear and flexural displacement, respectively. The accuracy of proposed method is evaluated by the comparison calculation results with previous test results. From the comparison, it was shown that the displacement capacity of shear wall could be well predicted by using the process.

  • It was previously introduced a new displacement measuring technique using terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) that remotely samples the surface of an object using laser pulses and generates the three-dimensional (3D) coordinates of numerous points on the surface. In this paper, for an assessment of the capabilities of the measuring technique about existing structures, the field tests for vertical displacement measurement of an existing long span steel box-girder are experimentally carried out. The performance of the technique is evaluated by comparing the displacements obtained from TLS system and displacements directly measured from linear variable displacement transducer (LVDT).

금속 V-벨트 CVT의 벨트거동 해석 (Analysis of belt behavior for a metal V-belt CVT)

  • The metal V-belt behavior of a continuously variable transmission was investigated analytically and experimentally. Numerical results showed that nondimensional belt radial displacement increased in the radial inward direction for the driven pulley, while that of the driver pulley increased for the first 90 degrees of the active are and decreased with the increasing torque load. Experimental results for the belt radial displacement were in good agreement with the theoretical results. However, the absolute magnitude of the belt radial displacement was so small that the change in the belt displacement could not be measured in the experimental range except for the inlet region of the driven pulley, where the radial inward displacement was observed due to the effect of bending moment. The speed ratio-axial force relationship derived from the belt behavior analysis also showed god agreement with the experiment.

  • A comprehensive analytical study of frequency-modulated supply of the dynamic instability in a variable-reluctance stepping motor, is described. It is shown that stability can be achieved by frequency modulation provided that the phase displacement between the modulating signal and the rotor velocity oscillation lies between certain limits. A simplified expression is derived. based on the assumption of high inertia. This model is used to obtain a qualitative understanding of how frequency modulation influences the dynamic stability of the variable-reluctance motor.

연약지반에 적용된 변단면 연약지반보강기초의 거동분석 (Behavior of Variable Cross-Section Soft Ground Reinforced Foundation in Soft Grounds)

  • 인천 ${\bigcirc}{\bigcirc}$지역의 연약지반에 시공된 변단면 연약지반보강기초(Variable cross-section soft ground reinforced foundation)의 연직압축거동을 분석하였다. 변단면 연약지반보강기초는 원지반과 고화재를 혼합교반하여 형성되는 고형체의 높은 강성과 강도를 이용하여 상부구조물로부터 유발되는 연약하중을 효과적으로 저항하기 위하여 시공된다. 변단면 연약지반보강기초는 군말뚝 형식으로 시공이 되는데, 정확한 연직거동을 알기 위하여 1개소의 기초에 대한 연직재하시험을 수행하였다. 변단면 연약지반보강기초의 거동을 일반적인 깊은 기초의 거동과 비교하기 위하여 유사한 천층지반조건에 시공된 PHC 파일의 재하시험 결과와 비교하여 재하하중에 따른 침하량 및 하중전이 거동특성을 분석하였다. 연직재하시험결과를 비교분석하였다. 변단면 연약지반보강기초는 제한된 범위의 연직하중에 대하여 천층에서도 효율적으로 저항하는 것으로 분석되었다.
