치과용 아말감의 산화환원에 관한 전기화학적 연구 (AN ELECTROCHEMICAL STUDY ON THE OXIDATION' AND REDUCTION OF DENTAL AMALGAM)

  • The purpose of this study was to observe corrosion characteristics of six dental amalgams and was to analyse corrosion products electrochemically. After each amalgam alloy and Hg was triturated as the direction of the manufacturer by using mechanical amalgamator, the triturated mass was inserted into the cylinderical metal mold ($12{\times}10mm$) and was condensed with 160kg/$cm^2$ by using the hydrolic press. The specimen was removed from the mold and was stored at room temperature for 1 week, and was polished with amalgam polishing kit. The anodic and cathodic polarization curve was obtained by using cyclic voltammetric method with 3-electrode potentiostat in saline for each amalgam and Ag, Sn, Cu plate specimen at $37{\pm}0.5^{\circ}C$. The potential sweep range was -1.7V~0. 4V(vs SCE) in working electrode and scan rate was 50mV/s and the exposed surface area of each specimen to the electrolytic solution was $0.79cm^2$. The results were as follows. 1. In anodic-cathodic polarization curve of amalgam specimens, two anodic current rising areas and two cathodic current peaks were obtained at the low Cu amalgam(CF, CS) specimen and three anodic current rising areas and three cathodic current peaks were obtained at the high Cu amalgam (TY, DS, HV) specimen. 2. As this compared with the anodic and cathodic current peak potentials of Sn, Cu and Ag specimen, the first cathodic current peak I c was caused by the reduction of divalent tin salt, second cathodic current peak IIIc results from the reduction of quadravalent tin salt, and third cathodic current peak me results from the reduction of copper salt. 3. As reverse potential sweeping was done repeatedly, anodic current was decreased slightly in all amalgam specimens.

Co-Electrodeposition of Bilirubin Oxidase with Redox Polymer through Ligand Substitution for Use as an Oxygen Reduction Cathode

  • The water soluble redox polymer, poly(N-vinylimidazole) complexed with Os(4,4'-dichloro-2,2'-bipyridine)$_2Cl]^+$ (PVI-[Os(dCl-bpy)$_2Cl]^+$), was electrodeposited on the surface of a glassy carbon electrode by applying cycles of alternating square wave potentials between 0.2 V (2 s) and 0.7 V (2 s) to the electrode in a solution containing the redox polymer. The coordinating anionic ligand, $Cl^-$ of the osmium complex, became labile in the reduced state of the complex and was substituted by the imidazole of the PVI chain. The ligand substitution reactions resulted in crosslinking between the PVI chains, which made the redox polymer water insoluble and caused it to be deposited on the electrode surface. The deposited film was still electrically conducting and the continuous electrodeposition of the redox polymer was possible. When cycles of square wave potentials were applied to the electrode in a solution of bilirubin oxidase and the redox polymer, the enzyme was co-electrodeposited with the redox polymer, because the enzymes could be bound to the metal complexes through the ligand exchange reactions. The electrode with the film of the PVI-[Os(dCl-bpy)$_2Cl]^+$ redox polymer and the co-electrodeposited bilirubin oxidase was employed for the reduction of $O_2$ and a large increase of the currents was observed due to the electrocatalytic $O_2$ reduction with a half wave potential at 0.42 V vs. Ag/AgCl.

다공성 La0.8Sr0.2CuO3 전극을 이용한 이산화탄소의 전기화학적 환원 반응 (Electrochemical Reduction of Carbon Dioxide Using Porous La0.8Sr0.2CuO3 Electrode)

  • 전극 촉매 물질인 페롭스카이트 형 $La_{0.8}Sr_{0.2}CuO_3$ 분말을 시트릭산 합성법으로 제조하였다. 이렇게 제조한 $La_{0.8}Sr_{0.2}CuO_3$ 분말과 지지전도체로 탄소 및 소수성 결합제로 polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE)를 혼합하여 다공성 전극을 제조하였다. 이산화탄소를 0.1, 0.5, 1.0M KOH 전해액에 용해하여 5, $10^{\circ}C$의 반응온도에서 -1.5~-2.5 V(vs. Ag/AgCl)의 인가전위로 전기화학 실험을 수행한 결과, 액상생성물은 온도와 상관없이 메탄올, 에탄올, 2-프로판올, 1,2-부탄올이 얻어진 반면 기상생성물로는 $5^{\circ}C$에서는 메탄, 에탄, 에틸렌이 $10^{\circ}C$에서는 메탄, 에탄, 프로판이 생성되었다. 전체 패러데이 효율의 관점에서 $CO_2$ 환원의 최적 인가전압은 기상의 경우 높은 값을(-2.0, -2.2 V) 보였고, 액상의 경우는 전해액 농도와 반응온도에 상관없이 낮은 전압(-1.5 V)임을 알 수 있었다.

유기용매 전해조를 이용한 리튬이차박막전지용 Sn 음극의 제조 (Preparation and Characterization of a Sn-Anode Fabricated by Organic-Electroplating for Rechargeable Thin-Film Batteries)

  • 박막 리튬이차전지의 고용량 음극을 개발하기 위하여, Sn(II) 아세테이트를 포함한 유기전해조 도금법을 이용하여 Sn 박막전극을 제조하였다. $Li^+$$Sn^{2+}$를 포함한 전해조에 대한 순환전위전류시험 결과 3종류의 환원 반응이 나타났으며, $2.0{\sim}2.5\;V$ 영역이 Ni 집전체 표면에 대한 Sn의 석출 반응에 해당한다. 수계전해액에 대한 $Sn^{2+}$의 표준환원전위는 2.91 V vs. $Li^+/Li^{\circ}$ 인데 반해 유기전해조에서는 보다 낮은 전위에서 환원반응이 일어났다. 이는 유기전해질의 고저항과 $Sn^{2+}$의 낮은 농도에 기인한 과전위의 결과로 생각된다. 제조한 전극의 물리적 특성 및 전기화학적 특성을 연구하였다. 석출한 Sn 전극을 $150^{\circ}C$로 열처리하여 보다 높은 결정성을 얻을 수 있었고, 이를 Sn/Li 전지로 구성하여 전기화학적 실험을 한 결과 0.25 V와 0.75 V에서 각각 합금화-탈합금화 과정을 확인 할 수 있었다. 제조한 전극의 두께를 전기량을 통하여 계산한 바 $7.35{\mu}m$였으며, 가역용량은 $400{\mu}Ah/cm^2$을 얻었다.

서울시 중앙버스전용차로 도입의 부가적인 대기오염 영향성 평가 (Impact of the Exclusive Median Bus Lane System on Air Pollution Concentrations in Seoul, Korea)

  • Since many previous studies reported the health effect of air pollution and indicated traffic as a major pollution source, significant policy efforts have been made to control traffic to reduce air pollution. However, there have been few studies that evaluated such policy implementation. In Seoul, Korea, the exclusive median bus lane system was implemented in 2004, and the metropolitan government applied air pollution reduction policies such as conversion of diesel buses to compressed natural gas buses and installation of emission control devices. This paper aimed to investigate the impact of the exclusive median bus lane system on air pollution reduction. Using hourly concentrations of particulate matter ($PM_{10}$) and nitrogen dioxide ($NO_2$) measured at 131 regulatory monitoring sites in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do for 2001-2014, we calculated annual and daily average concentrations at each site. We assessed the impact of the policy using differences-in-differences analysis by annual and daily average models after adjusting for geographic and/or meteorological variables. This method divides population into treatment and control groups with and without policy application, and compares the difference between the two time periods before and after the policy implementation in the treatment group with the difference in the control group. We classified all monitoring sites into treatment and control groups using two definitions: 1) Seoul vs. Gyeonggi-do; 2) within vs. outside 300 meters from the median bus lane. Pre- and post-policy periods were defined as 2001-2005 and 2006-2014, and 2004 and 2014 in the annual and daily models, respectively. The decrease in $PM_{10}$ concentrations between the two periods across monitoring sites in the treatment group was larger by $1.73-5.88{\mu}g/m^3$ than in the control group. $NO_2$ also showed the decrease without statistical significance. Our findings suggest that an efficient public transport policy combined with pollution abatement policies can contribute to reduction in air pollution.

On Pump-CABG와 Off Pump-CABG의 임상적 고찰에 관한 비교연구 (The Comparison of Clinical Study of Off Pump and On Pump CABG)

  • 배경 및 목적; 심폐체외순환의 부작용을 피하기 위해 최근 들어 심폐체외순환 없이 시행하는 관상동맥우회로술(Off pump CABG)이 시도되고 있다. 이 연구는 Off pump CABG와 심폐체외순환하에서 시행하는 관상동맥우회로술(On Pump CABG) 의 수술 전 위험요소와 수술 후 결과를 비교하였다. 방법; 2001년 1월부터 2001년 7월까지 CABG를 시행 받았던 178명중에서 판막수술이나 심실절제술 등 동반 수술이 없었던 166명을 대상으로 하였다. 이 중 Off Pump CABG환자는 52명이었고 On Pump CABG환자가 114명이었으며, 이 환자들을 대상으로 수술전 위험인자와 관상동맥 질환의 정도 및 수술 후 결과를 비교하였다. 결과; 두 군간의 연령, 남녀 비, 수술전 당뇨, 고혈압, 흡연력, 고지질증, 가족력 등 위험요소에 대한 통계적인 유의성은 없었으며, 폐쇄성 폐 질환이나 말초 동맥혈관 협착증 및 뇌경색의 기왕력, 심근경색의 기왕력이나 흉통의 정도(Canadian Class),관상동맥 질환의 정도 및 심박출계수도 통계적인 차이를 보이지 않았다. 수술시간은 Off Pump CABG에서 통계적으로 유의하게 짧았고(234 $\pm$ 37 min vs 290 $\pm$ 48 min, p<0.001), 이 식편수는 On Pump CABG에서 유의하게 많았다(3.4 $\pm$ 0.9개 vs 2.6 $\pm$ 0.8개, p<0.001). 수술 후 사망은 없었으며, 수술 후 측정한 CK-MB는 Off Pump CABG에서 통계적으로 유의하게 낮았고(10.1 $\pm$ 13.5 IU/L vs 33.1 $\pm$ 18.2 lU/L, p<0.001) 호흡기 사용시간도 통계적으로 유의하게 낮았다(14.8 $\pm$ 3.5 hours vs 16.2 $\pm$ 4.9 hours, p=0.048). 그 외 24시간 출혈량, 출혈로 인한 재수술, 중환자실 입원 기간, 수술 후 심근경색증, 감염, 신부전증, 신경과적 합병증 및 수술 후 입원 기간 등 수술 후 결과와 유병율에는 두 군간의 통계적 유의성이 없었다. 결론; Off Pump CABG는 On Pump CABG에 비해 수술시간의 단축과 수술 후 심근 손상의 정도가 낮고, 호흡기 사용시간이 짧게 나타났으나 On Pump CABG에 비해 이식편수가 적었다. 대체로 Off Pump CABG는 On Pump CABG에 비해 수술 후 결과에서 약간의 장점을 보여주었으나 Off Pump CABG의 장점을 알아보기 위해서는 더 많은 연구가 있어야 할 것으로 생각된다.

The Effect of External DC Electric Field on the Atmospheric Corrosion Behaviour of Zinc under a Thin Electrolyte Layer

  • The effect of external DC electric field on atmospheric corrosion behavior of zinc under a thin electrolyte layer (TEL) was investigated by measuring open circuit potential (OCP), cathodic polarization curve, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Results of OCP vs. time curves indicated that the application of external DC electric field resulted in a negative shift of OCP of zinc. Results of cathodic polarization curves measurement and EIS measurement showed that the reduction current of oxygen increased while charge transfer resistance ($R_{ct}$) decreased under the external DC electric field. Variation of OCP negative shift, reduction current of oxygen, and $R_{ct}$ increase with increasing of external DC electric field strength as well as the effect of external DC electric field on double-layer structure in the electrode/electrolyte interface and ions distribution in thin electrolyte layer were analyzed. All results showed that the external DC electric field could accelerate the corrosion of zinc under a thin electrolyte layer.

  • 전기화학적 환원 반응을 이용하는 전기 분해에 의한 방법으로 중금속 폐수를 처리하여 금속성분을 회수하는데 있어 cyclic voltammetry를 적용하였다. 아연용액에서의 아연전극과 탄소전극에 대한 전기적 반응 특성은 voltammogram으로 확인할 수 있었으며 수중 아연이온 환원은 전위가 -0.76V 이하에서 반응이 일어나는 것을 알 수 있었다. 용액 중 아연이온의 산화와 환원으로 인해 형성되는 금속 특성은 X선 회절분석 결과를 통해서 확인할 수 있었으며, AFM 이용하여 구리판에 환원된 아연을 관찰할 수 있었다. 본 연구의 결과는 전기분해에 의한 폐수 중 중금속의 처리 및 회수에 있어 기초자료로 활용죌 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

Monitoring of the Transfer of Tetrachloroaurate(III) Ions by Thin-layer Electrochemistry and Electrochemical Deposition of Metallic Gold over a Graphite Electrode

  • This study demonstrates the electrochemical conversion of the synthetic procedure of monolayer-protected clusters using a thin toluene layer over an edge plane pyrolytic graphite electrode. A thin toluene layer with a thickness of 0.31 mm was coated over the electrode and an immiscible liquid/liquid water/toluene interface was introduced. The transfer of the tetrachloroaurate ($AuCl_4^-$) ions into the toluene layer interposed between the aqueous solution and the electrode surface was electrochemically monitored. The $AuCl_4^-$ ions initially could not move through into the toluene layer, showing no reduction wave, but, in the presence of the phase transfer reagent, tetraoctylammonium bromide (TOABr), a cathodic wave at 0.23 V vs. Ag/AgCl was observed, indicating the reduction of the transferred $AuCl_4^-$ ions in the toluene layer. In the presence of dodecanethiol together with TOABr, a self-assembled monolayer was formed over the electro-deposited metallic gold surface. The E-SEM image of the surface indicates the formation of a highly porous metallic gold surface, rather than individual nanoparticles, over the EPG electrode.

Simple Electrochemical Immunosensor for the Determination of Rabbit IgG Using Osmium Redox Polymer Films

  • An amperometric immunosensor for the determination of rabbit IgG is proposed. The immunoassay utilizes a screen-printed carbon electrode on which osmium redox polymer is electrodeposited. This immunoassay detects 0.1 ng/ml of rabbit IgG, which is ${\sim}10^2$ fold higher than the most sensitive enzyme amplified amperometric immunoassay. The assay utilizes a screen-printed carbon electrode which was pre-coated by a co-electrodeposited film of an electron conducting redox hydrogel and a rabbit IgG. The rabbit IgG in the electron conducting film conjugates captures, when present, the anti-rabbit IgG. The captured anti-rabbit-IgG is labeled with horseradish peroxidase (HRP) which catalyzes the two-electron reduction of $H_2O_2$ to water. Because the redox hydrogel electrically connects HRP reaction centers to the electrode, completion of the sandwich converts the film from non-electrocatalytic to electro-catalytic for the reduction of $H_2O_2$ to $H_2O$ when the electrode is poised at 200 mV vs. Ag/AgCl.
