The purpose of this research aims to develop the creative economy sector of rural communities in Trenggalek Regency, East Java, Indonesia by mapping the creative economy sub-sectors in Trenggalek Regency. The creative economy industry has been shown to have a positive effect on GDP in many developing countries and developed countries. In urban areas, the creative economy is often associated with the development of advanced technology, such that it is unlikely to evolve in rural communities. However, the rural environmental landscape, which not only has a wealth of creative human capital but also a cultural heritage, also encourages the growth of the creative economy sector in rural areas. This qualitative research was conducted for 60 working days through in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, observation and literature review. More precisely, first, it identified the potential of the creative economy both sectorally and regionally. Second, it identified the leading creative economy subsectors and compiled a creative economic development road map. After defining and mapping the potential of the creative economy, four of the sixteen sub-sectors of the creative economy were identified to be developed through a strategic plan for the growth of the creative economy using urban branding, innovative industrial centers and renewable resources.

The meanings and roles of community have been changed. Traditional community theories hinged on the neighborhood have been threatened by the alternative concept of 'communities without propinquity'. Embracing unprecedented development of transportation, information and communication technologies, Propinquity of community has not been a precondition. This paper reviews the development of community theories with a frame of 'communities without propinquity'. Furthermore, applying social network analysis(SNA) approaches, it explores the communality of Topgol Comic Book Space, located in Goesan, Chungbuk and examines spatial characters. Visitors' networks of Topgol Comic Book Space builda up national coverage and expands. It functions as a field of testing various activities without explicit 'fixed purpose'. The case exemplifies a community, continuously enlarging the spatial and social boundaries, performing a series of activities, and connecting both the outside and the local.

The diversity of urban landscapes is established by dynamic characteristics such as language, color, and their movement, which are the building environment, street patterns, and people. With the increase of foreign migrants in Korea, new guidelines are needed in terms of local community administration and land policy. Administrative, sociological, and geographical studies have been conducted on the steadily increasing number of foreign migrants since the 2000s, but it is difficult to establish for making safe and healthy communities through which different cultures and lifestyles of each country and ethnic group undergo some integration with the existing host society. There are limitations in identifying the lack of statistical data and the representation of a minority proportion of foreign residents. In order to analyze the core elements of the integrated strategy of the local community, the residential behavior and spatial characteristics of foreign migrants must first be identified.

This study analyzed a characteristic by types of urban regeneration helping the establishment of urban identity under social condition change. It will be foundation of sustainable urban development with strategy that secures world-wide competitive power. For this, sample cases that established identity from urban regeneration were reviewed about the main subject and the supporting subject in business side and hardware, software, system, and finance in design factors. 4samples each in inheritance intensification type and change creation type were selected and analyzed. The result said it is most effective to establish urban identity when inheritance intensification type is the private-centered for urban regeneration. And it is better to do the project that the main subject and the supporting subject are taken by the private or the private-leading partnership. It is necessary to manage the region and plan events with software design factors more than hardware design factors. In addition, for urban identity, it was found to be desirable to utilize and preserve fully current resources such as historical scenery and activate the communities than making new facilities. On the contrary, the project based on change creation type needs to be under the public management with innovative idea. Also, when it comes to design factors, facilities related to culture and art and community spaces should open and run actively. It is important for the region to improve its image by New design style such as TOD. In software side, it is important to manage the region by monitoring about urban regeneration business and solve social mix and employment problem. On the other hand, in terms of system and administration, both types don't show a difference in urban identity establishment, since it is same that both should make partnership and get a support of subsidy to be most effective.
The purpose of this study is to identify effect in how urban garden is run by different operators in Korea, and consequently how it determines the level of community formation among urban garden users. Based on this analysis, the study is intended to present some points as to how to better manage urban garden. The operators are divided into three types: public, public-private partnership and private. The study interviewed each operating entity and surveyed garden users to gauge the extent to which communities are developed. After the ANOVA analysis and Scheffe post-hoc analysis, it was found that the levels of community formation among users of public and public-private partnership urban gardens were similar (so can be grouped together), whereas that of private urban garden users was higher (separated as another group). However, this study found no meaningful differences in the level of community formation among all types of urban garden in a local community. Some key suggestions are made as a result. First, as for the public and public-private partnership types of urban garden, it is necessary to foster leaders to build a community. Next, it is worth noting the potential of public-private partnership in realizing community revival through urban garden. The last suggestion is that, generally, the urban garden has only little influence on community formation in a local area so far, thus more practical consideration needs to be given to enhance the role of urban garden in a local community.
Most research on high-rise housing has focused on low-income residences, and usually the psychological and social well-being of women and children. The validity of such findings are questionable for other populations since high-rise living has served other groups and their various needs in particular settings. Lack of knowledge and understanding about high-rises has represented an obstacle to the accurate representation of American urban reality in residential environments. The review of literature and factor analysis identified Important environmental factors. The survey was conducted in the selected downtown high-rise communities of major U.S. cities. Analyses revealed that there were unique characteristics of residents who prefer to live in this type of housing. It was also found that living in middle-income urban high-rise condominiums does not contribute significantly to the problems associated with high-rise living itself. Even though there were some deficiencies of social interaction and activities among residents, the middle-income condominiums were serving particular residents as maintenance-free and safe place imprinted by a positive image of sweet memories or sometimes by a window view presiding over downtown skyline.

The purpose of this study is to look into current situations of urban-to-rural migrants' community participation and its relationship with rural life satisfaction. This topic is important because one of the main barriers to migration decision is job availability, especially in rural areas. Besides, rural areas need more human resources to support aging communities, as rural population is constantly decreasing. For this study, we used the methods of survey and in-depth interview with structured questionnaire. We met 121 respondents who were in community participation activities by the snowball sampling method in 10 counties nationwide. As a result, we identified community participation activities could contribute to urban-to-rural migrants' stable settlement and improving their satisfaction with rural lives.

This study reviews how an aging society can be connected to the urban-built environment, transportation system, infrastructure, and climate change topics from the perspective of policy and innovation in science and technology. Each topic was described with the aging society that we will encounter in the near future. Based on the expected discussions, we suggested how policy and technological innovations may interact with the new emerging society. Especially, digital transformation is expected to hyper-connect the aging society beyond physical barriers where numerous policies and innovations in science and technology shed light on the elderly population. We observe, however, that this cannot be achieved only by the government sector; rather, municipal governments and local communities, as well as private sectors, all together need to prepare for the new society of the aging population. Furthermore, an ideal approach is to accommodate multidisciplinary studies that can address the policy and technological innovations simultaneously and collectively. By doing so, we can minimize the negative impacts when an aging society approaches.
The objective of this study is to investigate the functional conformity based on the analysis of the spatial connectivity of block housing using space syntax. Three cases were selected which have important meanings in 1920s. The properties of spatial configuration were derived from an urban-context approach and without urban context analysis, and spatial connectivity and functional conformity were analyzed using references. The results of the study revealed that the arrangement of block housing were different from one another notwithstanding their similar layout characteristics. The relationships between urban streets and housing complexes were identified, and the public spaces were being arranged as semi-public spaces, whereas blocks as private spaces by separating functions. This study provides the implications for the planning of low rise-high density housings by means of analyzing the spatial connectivity of the spatial layout characteristics of European block housing, recognizing the relationships between urban communities and housing complexes.
