  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the possibility of Garnet powder as admixture of high strength concrete. The experiment condition is unit water content 160kg/㎥, W/B=30, 35%, S/A=40, 42, 44% and the cement was replaced with Garnet powder to 0, 10% of cement weight on making specimens. The mechanical properties of the fresh and hardened concrete were given as follows. As the time elapsed, the slump loss of 10% replaced concrete was considerably lower than that of 0% replaced concrete. In compressive strength, the 10% replacement case was nearly the same or somewhat high.

  • Generally, fragility curve has been used in predicting failure of structures due to seismic actions. In this research, the method of drawing fragility curve has been applied to evaluating success/failure of structures and satisfactory/unsatisfactory of concrete mixture performance based on material parameters. In the paper, a detailed explanation of the procedure of drawing fragility curve based on material parameter has been introduced. Fragility curve generating procedure includes generation of virtual data points from limited number of actual data points by bell curve implementation, determination of success/failure status of each data point by assigned criterion, and completion of final fragility curve. For practical applications, workability of concrete mixture content based on "unit water" has been used to obtain fragility curve. Detailed explanation of fragility curve drawing procedure for material parameters is presented.

  • Structural lightweight concrete will reduced total loads of supporting sections and foundations in archtectural and civil structures. So, the lightweight concrete can be used widely for various purpose in the archtectural and civil structures. This paper were examined the influence of the mixing factor on the fresh and hardened properties of lightweight concrete that are used 2types of the differences properties of lightweight aggregates. According to types of lightweight aggregates, the case of synthetic lightweight aggregate are have need higher s/a; 2~4% on mixing proportion. Lightweight concrete was somewhat exhibit lower compressive strength than ordinary concrete. However it was not showed a marked difference. According to types of lightweight aggregates, the case of synthetic the lightweight aggregate are highest performance in fresh and hardened concrete.

  • In this paper an artificial neural network model is developed to estimate the unconfined compression strength of Deep Cement Mixing(DCM) treated soil. A database which consists of a number of unconfined compression test result compiled from 9 clay sites is used to train and test of the artificial neural network model. Developed neural network model requires water content of soil, unit weight of soil, passing percent of #200 sieve, weight of cement, w-c ratio as input variables. It is found that the developed artificial neural network model can predict more precise and reliable unconfined compression strength than the conventional empirical models.

  • In the concrete structures exposed to environmental conditions at early ages, water movement occurs by moisture diffusion in the concrete, and self-desiccation of concrete is also occurred. Thus the internal relative humidity is changed from moisture diffusion and self-desiccation. Thus the internal relative humidity at each location in concrete includes the decrease by self-desiccation. Especially, for high-strength concrete the much unit cement content is used, so that the non-uniform relative humidity distribution is affected form self-desiccation at early ages. In this study, the internal relative humidity in concrete was measured at early ages, and the moisture diffusion component and self-desiccation component of total relative humidity were discussed.

  • Recently, it is very necessary the development of the manufacturing techniques for high strength concrete(HSC) for the large-scale size and good quality of civil structure. But, the manufacture and quality control of HSC of which shrinkage, heat of hydration and workability at construction filed are considered, is very difficult due to its low water-cement ratio and high quantity of unit cement content. In the present study, we tried to know and assess the influences of chemical and physical properties of cement on the material properties of HSC. We analyzed basic properties of 4 kinds of cement whose chemical and physical properties are different each other through various tests such as chemical analysis and mortal test. Also, we performed the assessment of the material properties of HSC for each dement by the test for the conditions of same mix design and similar compressive strength. From the results in the study, the assessment of the important quality factors of cement influencing the properties of HSC may be utilized to quality control of applied cement to manufacture the HSC of high quality.

  • Flow experimental on not to be solid mortar which use Quenched Blast-furnace Slag as a fine aggregate was carried out for basic research data about fundamental study of application possibility of Quenched Blast-furnace Slag as a fine aggregate. It gives following result. The substitution rate is inversely proportional to Flow and C/S-rate same that. The relation with W/C-rate augment appear proportional : in case of C/S-rate, 1:3 increasing degree is a half of sand mortar that. Consequencely, Quenched Blast-furnace Slag motar is a counteraction to Flow in as same water content per unit. But suitable substitution rate and C/S-rate influence a little to the mortar consistency. And that reason, if C/S-rate and substitution rate will be regulated when we mix the mortar with quenched Blast-furnace Slag. that will be economic mixture.

  • The physical properties of freshly mixed steel fiber reinforced recycled concrete(SFRRC) were_investigated. Physical state and quality of fresh concrete were monitored batch by batch. the properties of freshly mixed SFRRC were determined in terms of slump, air content, superplasticizer, and bleeding ratio. Concrete mixtures were produced for three kinds of aggregate proportions. So, the experimental variables are various aggregate proportions, steel fiber contents(0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5%) and steel length(30, 50, 60mm). From experimental results, optimum s/a by various experimental variables, variations of the slump by the air contents, and optimum superplasticizer to decrease unit water were presented.

  • Crystal-chemical study of hexagonal 7$\AA$ phyllomanganate minerals reveals that they have hexagonal layer structures with variable c dimensions which depend on the nature of interlayer cations and content of water molecules between edge-sharing [MnO6] octahedral layers. Approximately one out of nine octahedral sites is statistically vacant, leading to the general unit cell formula R2xMn4+1-xO2.nH2O, where R=Ca, Mn2+, Mg, K, Na;x=0.09-0.14 ; n-0.37-0.84. Z=1. The minerals of this formula fall under the name of rancieite group. It includes Ca-diminant (rancieite), Mn2+-dominant (takanelite), Na-dominant (birnessite), and Mg-dominant members. Minerals of the rancieite group occur predominantly in two different hydration states, i.e., n shows the values around 0.35 and 0.75. It is suggested that minerals of higher hydration state be called as species(i.e., rancieite, etc.) and those of lower hydration state be called as dehydrated varieties(i.e., dehydrated rancieite,etc.).
