  • This study proposed how to identify window defects by using photos uploaded by occupants during the pre-handover inspection of mulch-family housing. A total of 1168 door images were acquired to generate training data and validation data. Subsequently, through the proposed algorithms, every pixel in images labeled a door was binarized using the OTSU threshold, and then dark pixels were identified as defects. Experimental results demonstrated that our computer vision-based defects identification method detects the door with a recall of 57.9%, and door defects with 63.6%. Although it is still a challenge to automatically identify building defects because of the distortion and brightness of photos, this study has the potential to support better defects management. Ultimately, the improved pre-handover inspection may lead to increased customer satisfaction.

  • In the process of urbanization under capitalism, new types of urban public spaces that combine 'living space' and 'economic space' play a dual role as a public sphere and a place for capital accumulation. This dual role has resulted in the multidimensional nature of the public nature of urban space, which in turn has resulted in the boundaries between 'public' and 'private' in the city becoming increasingly blurred. Therefore, this study presents an example of a continuum approach to space based on criticism of the socio-spatial debate and examines how it can be used in empirical research. The types of public spaces and the scope of publicness are evolving over time. Ultimately, this implies the need for a typology of contemporary public space and publicness that centers on questions of function, perception and ownership, which are very important for how public space is managed.

  • This study investigates the effect of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fiber and silica fume addition on the chloride penetration resistance of alkali-activated slag. Silica fume was added to replace slag at the dosage of 0, 5, 10, and 20% by weight of the binder, while PVA fiber was added at the dosage of 0, 1, and 2% by volume of the mixture. Samples were synthesized via alkali activator with 1.0 of silicate modulus and cured at room temperature for 28 days. Compressive strength test, permeable voids volume test, water absorprtion test, and rapid chloride penetration test were conducted for measuring the charaterisitics of alkali-activaed slag. The results showed that increasing silica fume content up to 10% in alkali-activated slag improved compressive strength and chloride penetration resistance. Addition of PVA fibers up to 1% by volume enhanced strength and chloride penetration resistance, but exceeding this led to reduced strength and durability due to increased void formation in the matrix.

  • The cement industry is a major source of carbon dioxide emissions. Reduction in emissions in this sector is an important issue. Calcium silicate cement is a type of alternative to ordinary Portland cements which contributes to the reduction in carbon dioxide emissions. However, because the type of cement is a non-hydraulic material, there are limitations to its application in the field. The effects of pre-curing periods on the physical characteristics of ordinary Portland cement pastes with calcium silicate cement in the present study were investigated. The Independent variable is the pre-curing period. The pre-curing period varied from 0 to 5 hrs, considering the hydration characteristics of ordinary Portland cement. The carbonation curing of the ordinary Portland cement pastes with the calcium silicate cement after pre-curing was conducted. The concentration of gaseous CO2 was fixed at 20 %. The test results showed that the pre-curing period led to the pore structural change of the pastes, which in turn could affect the further reaction under the long-term curing condition.

  • Abstract: Korea has designated free economic zones to build the foundation for national economic development by setting up special economic zones to be more competitive in cities. On August 5, 2003, the government designated Songdo, Yeongjong and Cheongna districts in Incheon as free economic zones. But while the development should have been completed nearly three years before the end of the development, the development has been slow and the population, foreign direct investment and other business results are far from the initial plan. Therefore, in this study, we will investigate the various problems occurring in the Incheon Free Economic Zone, investigate the causes of the problem, and then compare and analyze the Incheon Free Economic Zone and China's special economic zones. The two institutions share similar characteristics in many areas, but the Incheon Free Economic Zone system has yet to be settled, as the special economic zone has played a significant role in economic development in China. Therefore, the study is expected to find a solution to the problems of the free economic zones in Incheon and provide directions for future development.

  • The cadastral rehabilitation project, which has been implemented since 2012, is a project to re-examine the national land that is not in conformity with the cadastral map, There is a lot of trouble in securing financial resources for business execution. This study examines the utility of UAS(Unmanned Aerial System) image - based cadastral demarcation as an alternative to budget reduction in the current state of cadastral rehabilitation, reasonable boundary adjustment, UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) is used to create 3D models and orthoimages of business districts, and to check accuracy by superimposing and comparing with digital maps of NGII(National Geographic Information Institute). As a result of the study, the accuracy of the 3D model and the orthoimage through the SfM(Structure-from-Motion) - based image interpretation of the digital map of the NGII were derived. In particular, we confirmed the similarity of UAS-based orthoimage with the cadastral boundaries affirmation, It is anticipated that the cost saving effect of current survey and boundary survey can be expected. In addition, it is easy to prepare a report to reduce civil complaints, which is a problematic element of the adjustment.

  • This study aims to identify convenient surrounding of the hospital room to be improved by specifically focusing on light environment and to examine a change of inflow of the daylight in the hospital room by using blind and light shelf device as base data of preliminary research for comprehending the relationship between healing environment and natural day light. Simulation analysis on previous facilities and the installation of horizontal light shelf that derives the inflow of day light has been specifically referred by using ECOTECT2011 program. In case of C-facility that mostly adjoined to exterior spaces, it was shown to be closer to a proper uniformity factor when an angle was controlled on the light shelf with blind installed at the same time. However, it was not overall appropriate because of visual displeasure occurred from inflow of much day light. In conclusion, it is the form of flat surface such as H-facility that provides an effect after installing the device to derive day light. Especially, it was shown that interior day light environment was improved when installing blind and controlling the angle at the same time.
