  • This study is concerned with the existence of positive solution for the following nonlinear elliptic system $$\{-M_1(\int_{\Omega}{\mid}x{\mid}^{-ap}{\mid}{\nabla}u{\mid}^pdx)div({\mid}x{\mid}^{-ap}{\mid}{\nabla}u{\mid}^{p-2}{\nabla}u)\\{\hfill{120}}={\mid}x{\mid}^{-(a+1)p+c_1}\({\alpha}_1A_1(x)f(v)+{\beta}_1B_1(x)h(u)\),\;x{\in}{\Omega},\\-M_2(\int_{\Omega}{\mid}x{\mid}^{-bq}{\mid}{\nabla}v{\mid}^qdx)div({\mid}x{\mid}^{-bq}{\mid}{\nabla}v{\mid}^{q-2}{\nabla}v)\\{\hfill{120}}={\mid}x{\mid}^{-(b+1)q+c_2}\({\alpha}_2A_2(x)g(u)+{\beta}_2B_2(x)k(v)\),\;x{\in}{\Omega},\\{u=v=0,\;x{\in}{\partial}{\Omega},$$ where ${\Omega}$ is a bounded smooth domain of ${\mathbb{R}}^N$ with $0{\in}{\Omega}$, 1 < p, q < N, $0{\leq}a$ < $\frac{N-p}{p}$, $0{\leq}b$ < $\frac{N-q}{q}$ and ${\alpha}_i,{\beta}_i,c_i$ are positive parameters. Here $M_i,A_i,B_i,f,g,h,k$ are continuous functions and we discuss the existence of positive solution when they satisfy certain additional conditions. Our approach is based on the sub and super solutions method.

  • In this paper we will study cyclic codes over some special rings: $\mathbb{F}_q[u]/(u^i)$, $\mathbb{F}_q[u_1,{\ldots},u_i]/(u^2_1,u^2_2,{\ldots},u^2_i,u_1u_2-u_2u_1,{\ldots},u_ku_j-u_ju_k,{\ldots})$, and $\mathbb{F}_q[u,v]/(u^i,v^j,uv-vu)$, where $\mathbb{F}_q$ is a field with $q$ elements $q=p^r$ for some prime number $p$ and $r{\in}\mathbb{N}-\{0\}$.

  • In this paper, we study the existence of positive solutions for the following nonlinear m-point boundary value problem with p-Laplacian: $\{{{{(\phi_p(u'))'\;+\;f(t,u(t))=0, \;0<t<1,} \atop u'(0)={\sum}{^{m-2}_{i=1}}\;a_iu'(\xi_i),} \atop u(1)={\sum}{^k_{i=1}}\;b_iu(\xi_i)\;-\;{\sum}{^s_{i=k+1}}\;b_iu(\xi_i)\;-\;{\sum}{^{m-2}_{i=s+1}}\;b_iu'(xi_i),}$ where ${\phi}_p(s)$ is p-Laplacian operator, i.e., ${\phi}_p(s)=\mid s\mid^{p-2}s$, p>1, ${\phi}_q\;=\;({\phi}_p)^{-1}$, $\frac{1}{p}+\frac{1}{q}=1$, $1\;{\leq}\;k\;{\leq}\;s\;{\leq}m\;-\;2$, $b_i\;{\in}\;(0,+{\infty})$ with $0\;<\;{\sum}{^k_{k=1}}\;b_i\;-\;{\sum}{^s_{i=k+1}}\;b_i\;<\;1$, $0\;<\;{\sum}{^{m-2}_{i=1}}\la_i\;<\;1$, $0\;<\;{\xi}_1\;<\;{\xi}_2\;<\;{\cdots}\;<\;{\xi}_{m-2}\;<\;1$, $f\;{\in}\;C([0,\;1]\;{\times}\;[0,\;+{\infty}),\;[0,\;+{\infty}))$. We show that there exists one or two positive solutions by using fixed-point theorem for operator on a cone. The conclusions in this paper essentially extend and improve the known results.

  • In this paper, we consider the congruences involving harmonic numbers and the terms of the sequences {$U_{kn}$} and {$V_{kn}$}. For example, for an odd prime number p, $${\sum\limits_{i=1}^{p-1}}H_i{\frac{U_{k(i+m)}}{V^i_k}}{\equiv}{\frac{(-1)^kU_{k(m+1)}}{_pV^{p-1}_k}}(V^p_k-V_{kp})(mod\;p)$$, where $m{\in}{\mathbb{Z}}$ and $k{\in}{\mathbb{Z}}$ with $p{\nmid}V_k$.

A Study of the Effects of Vowels on the Production of English Labials /p, b, f, v/ by Korean Learners of English (영어학습자의 순음 /p, b, f, v/ 발성에 미치는 모음의 영향 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to find how English vowels /a, e, i, o, u/ affect the production of English labials /p, b, f, v/ by Korean learners of English. Sixty syllables were composed by five vowels and four labials in the syllable types CV, VC, and VCV. The nonsense syllables were produced three times by nine subjects. The major results show that (1) in inter-vocalic position, the subjects had higher scores in producing /v/ composed with /a, e, o/ and /u/, while subjects had lower scores in producing /p/ with /i/ and /o/, (2) in post-vocalic position, the subjects had higher scores in producing /v/ and /f/ with /a, e/, and /o/, while subjects had lower scores in producing /b/ with /e/ and /i/, and (3) in pre-vocalic position, the subjects had higher scores in producing /v/ with /e, o, u/ and /f/ with /u/, while subjects had lower scores in producing /b/ with /e/, /i/ and /u/. The results suggest that on the whole, Korean learners of English have much difficulty in producing /p/ with /i/ in inter-vocalic condition and /b/ with /i, /e/ in pre-vocalic position.

EXISTENCE AND MULTIPLICITY OF POSITIVE SOLUTIONS FOR MULTIPOINT BOUNDARY VALUE PROBLEMS

  • This paper deals with the multipoint boundary value problem for one dimensional p-Laplacian $({\phi}_p(u'))'(t)$ + f(t,u(t)) = 0, $t{\in}$ (0, 1), subject to the boundary value conditions: u'(0) - $\sum\limits^n_{i=1}{\alpha_i}u({\xi}_i)$ = 0, u'(1) + $\sum\limits^n_{i=1}{\alpha_i}u({\eta}_i)$ = 0. Using a fixed point theorem for operators on a cone, we provide sufficient conditions for the existence of multiple (at least three) positive solutions to the above boundary value problem.

  • We consider the following system of discrete equations $u_i(\kappa)\;=\;{\Sigma{N}{\ell=0}}g_i({\kappa},\;{\ell})f_i(\ell,\;u_1(\ell),\;u_2(\ell),\;{\cdots}\;,\;u_n(\ell)),\;{\kappa}\;{\in}\;\{0,\;1,\;{\cdots}\;,\;T\},\;1\;{\leq}\;i\;{\leq}\;n\;where\;T\;{\geq}\;N\;>\;0,\;1\;{\leq}i\;{\leq}\;n$. Existence criteria for single, double and multiple constant-sign solutions of the system are established. To illustrate the generality of the results obtained, we include applications to several well known boundary value problems. The above system is also extended to that on $\{0,\;1,\;{\cdots}\;\}\;u_i(\kappa)\;=\;{\Sigma{\infty}{\ell=0}}g_i({\kappa},\;{\ell})f_i(\ell,\;u_1(\ell),\;u_2(\ell),\;\cdots\;,\;u_n(\ell)),\;{\kappa}\;{\in}\;\{0,\;1,\;{\cdots}\;\},\;1\;{\leq}\;i\;{\leq}\;n$ for which the existence of constant-sign solutions is investigated.

Effect of Gonadotropin Treatment on the Ovarian Response in the Angora Rabbits (성선자극홀몬 투여가 Angora토끼의 난소반응에 미치는 영향)

  • The present experiment was carried out to investigate super-ovulating response, ovulation time and fertilizability in the angora rabbit that gonadotropin was treated. The results obtained were summarized as follows ; 1. Number of ovulating point and ovarian weight in PMSG 100I.U.(25${\pm}$2.45;1104.2${\pm}$110.6mg) and PMSG 200I.U.(30.6${\pm}$1.76, 1330.0${\pm}$153.9mg) treated group were significantly higher than natural mating(6.6${\pm}$1.49, 560.2${\pm}$60.6mg) and HCG treated group(9.8${\pm}$0.8;651.6${\pm}$55.1mg)(P<0.01). 2. Survival rate and recovery rate in natural mating, HCG and PMSG 100I.U. treated group were significantly higher than PMSG 200I.U. treated group.(P<0.01)(P<0.05). 3. Ovulation started at 10hrs and mostly finished at 16hrs after HCG injection. 4. The fertilizable life of egg ovulated was during 8hrs after ovulation.

  • Assume $H_i : R_+ \times R_+ \to R_+ (i = 1, 2)$ are monotonically increasing (in both variables), homogeneous mapping for which $H_1(tu, tv) = t^p(H_1(u, v) (p > 0)$ and $H_2(u, v)^{t^q} (q \leq 1)$ hold for $t, u, v \geq 0$. Using an idea from the paper of Baker, Lawrence and Zorzitto [2], the superstability problems of the functional inequalities $\Vert f(x+y) - f(x)f(y) \Vert \leq H_i (\Vert x \Vert, \Vert y \Vert)$ shall be investigated.
