  • This paper presents an accelerated life test for burn out of tungsten filament of automotive halogen lamp. There are many failure modes and failure factors that associated with tungsten filament. But in this explain the dominant failure mode of tungsten filament is the bumout of the filament failure. At first, over voltage, high temperature, inrush current and vibration are selected as stress factors by using of two stage Quality Function Deploymeng(QFD). And we planed accelerated life test that has one factor(voltage) and three levels. By experiment it has absorbed that over voltage has an effect on the life of halogen lamp. Using ALTA programs, we estimated the common shpae parament of Weibull distribution, life-stress relationship and $B_{100p}$ life.

  • This paper presents an accelerated life test for burnout of tungsten filament of incandescent lamp. From failure analyses of field samples, it is shown that their root causes are local heating or hot sports in the filament caused by tungsten evaporation and wire sag. Finite element analysis is performed to evaluate the effect of vibration and impact for burnout, but any points of stress concentration or structural weakness are not found in the sample. To estimate the burnout life of lamp, an accelerated life test is planned by using quality function deployment and fractional factorial design, where voltage, vibration, and temperature are selected as accelerating variables. We assumed that Weibull lifetime distribution and a generalized linear model of life-stress relationship hold through goodness of fit test and test for common shape parameter of the distribution. Using accelerated life testing software, we estimated the common shape parameter of Weibull distribution, life-stress relationship, and accelerating factor.

  • In the tungsten industry as light source material, tungsten filament which used as light source material could form after molybdenumwire which used as the center supporter for coil shape tungsten wire was removed. This process uses hydrogen peroxide, Ozone and UV(Ultraviolet)Lamp, for the quantity of hydrogen peroxide decrease. The results were as follows : 1. An incandescent electric Lamp type : FL(FL-20) type : A standard of commodity (P.W.: $19{\pm}1.0mg$, $C.R:4.5{\pm}0.3{\Omega}$) 1) Only hydrogen peroxide treated ; Reaction Time : 65Min., P.W.: 18.60mg, $C.R.:4.60{\Omega}$ 2) Ozone/Ultraviolet/70% of hydrogen peroxide; Reaction Time : 64Min., P.W.: 18.61mg, C.R.: $4.61{\Omega}$ 2. A Fluorescent Lamp Type : GLS(GLS-40) Type : A standard of commodity(P.W.: $11.8{\pm}0.2mg$$65{\pm}1.5{\Omega}$) 1) Only hydrogen peroxide treated ; Reaction Time: 72Min, P.W.:11.88mg, C.R.: $65.62\Omega$ 2) Ozone/Ultraviolet/70% of hydrogen peroxide;Reaction Time:71Min., P.W.:11.88mg, C.R.: $65.63\Omega$

  • Influence of incoherent lamp heating sources on the absorption effect and variation of OSF' size were investigated. The absorption effect on I.R lamp caused by free carrier excitation is greater than that of Tungsten-Halogen lamp. The variation of DSF' size weakly affected by oxidation time.

  • Dissolved silica is one of fatal components at a boiler facility Therefore, a dissolved silica measurement system should be equipped for managing efficiently the boiler facility. Most of silica measurement systems are composed of a sensor module of single-beam type structure, and silica density is measured with a infrared spectrometry using the Lambert-beer method. However, such a system occurs measuring error of large range and inconsistency of a light source, because of measuring a standard sample and a measuring sample alternatively. This paper introduces a method that the sensor module has a split-beam type structure and a tungsten lamp. The proposed system can measure silica density quickly and precisely more than those composing of a single-beam type structure, because of measuring and comparing with two samples at a same time. And examination results are shown to compare efficiencies of the system and existing commercial products, and for an ammonia influence.

  • The discharge properties of super high-pressure mercury lamp are due to resistance heating for energy input, and results in temperature increase. The cooling equilibrium state is reached by the heat conduction, convection and radiation. In order to predict the fluid flow and heat transfer in and around the mercury lamp accurately, its visualization is of utmost importance. Such visualization is carried out by CFD program in this study. We focus on Anode shape to calculate four cases, namely AA, AB, AC and AD separately, and compare the temperature distribution and velocity vector in each case to predict cooling capacity and fluid flow properties. It can be concluded that the shape of anode plays an important role that affects the fluid flow and heat transfer in a mercury lamp.

  • ceramic metal halide lamps are a subset of high intensity discharge lamps so named because of their high radiance These lamps weak ionized plasma in a fire-resisting but light transmissive wrapping by the corridor of current through atomic and molecular vapors. for commercial applications, For commercial applications, the conversion of electric power to light must occur with good efficiency and with sufficient spectral content throughout the visible (380-800 nm) to permit the light so generated to render colors comparable to natural sunlight. the purpose of this paper is to carry out a study on the variation of ageing time(2000 On/Off[hr]) on the performance of 150W CMH lamps. Experimental results show that the blackening by reacting W(tungsten)with I atomic has been created in the arc tube of an ageing lamp(2000 On/Off[hr]), the arc was unstable, and increased a lamp resistance made lamp voltage increases significantly. Also, Color temperature of the ageing lamp was moved by the losses of Ho with Dy atomics and by recombination of Na with I.
