  • Digital holography is generally regarded as one of the most possible candidates for achieving a real 3D display system in that it can fully record and reconstruct the wave characteristics of light. In addition, 3D display systems based on digital holographic technology do not cause a vergence-accommodation mismatch problem. In this report, the recent trends in digital holographic display technology are described, and recent research results related to the fields of augmented reality and virtual reality are also briefly reported.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to identify the domestic research trends in health education published in journals and dissertations, and to provide recommendations for quality improvement. Methods: 277 papers published from 1960 to 2009 were reviewed using criteria of analysis. The results were displayed as frequencies and percentages. Results: The contents of the health education were very poor compared with the Health Promotion Act. In health education program developing and evaluation process, papers on the assessment stage occupied the largest portion. In research methodology; the survey study, school field, the questionnaire research tool and inferential statistics were the most applied. Master theses were the largest number. Conclusions: This review suggests that the published papers, in some instances, have been poorly done. However, this study may provide future guidelines for health education research, and it is hoped that higher level research can be accomplished.

  • This study explored medical students' major research topics and research methods by analyzing 184 academic articles pertaining to the characteristics of medical students from 2007 to 2017. Results showed many papers dealing with medical students' emotional and cognitive aspects, student counseling, clinical practice education, and curriculum management. According to the medical education accreditation board, research trends were found mostly in the student and curriculum areas of learner characteristics, medical humanities, student counseling, clinical practice education, and curriculum management. Common research topics have been steadily increasing since the introduction of the evaluation accreditation standard in 2012. Medical students predominantly used quantitative research methods for the studies. In the future, it is necessary to ensure that research topics such as CQI, digital- and performance-based clinical practice, and convergent curriculum within the Fourth Industrial Revolution are being studied. In addition, it is crucial to investigate learners' unique, dynamic, and qualitative characteristics through qualitative and mixed methods.

  • Information behavior is an important area of research in library and information science (LIS) that has evolved over the last 75 years. The aim of this study is to investigate the recent trends of information behavior research by providing insights into emerging topical areas within information behavior. To conduct this study, the bibliographic data from Scopus was used, and the trends of information behavior were traced by using variations of key terms used in information behavior research, such as "information behavior", "information seeking behavior", and "information needs." In addition, the trends were analyzed in terms of content words in the title, highly cited journal articles, disciplinary categories, and author keywords. Information behavior research has its roots in LIS, but the findings of the study reveal that information behavior has expanded to other disciplines by intersecting a variety of topical areas. In particular, this study showed that information behavior in the health/medicine domain has become a predominant emerging topical area of research. In order to enhance our understanding of complex human behavior, future research should focus more on interdisciplinary aspects by measuring the scope of information behavior.

Analysis was for year, content, research methods, research design, and subjects. Results showed that (1) the changes by year were that the number of qualitative researches increased from 4 articles in 1998 to 24 articles in 2006. (2) The greatest amount of research content concerned educational methods for the generation of creativity. (3) Most research methods were empirical studies. (4) The most used measurement scale was the Korean Comprehensive Creativity Test for Young Children (Jeon, 2000). (5) Most data analyses were by t-test.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to analyze the papers from 2011 to 2020 to study on the trends of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) in Korea, Japan and China. Methods : In order to analyze the research trends on IBS in Korea, Japan and China, domestic and foreign databases were selected to provide academic resources to the common use of telecommunication lines represented by the Internet. The latest research trends were determined by limiting the 10-year period from January 2011 to December 2020. Results : In the past decade, six IBS-related papers have been searched in Korea, six in Japan and 458 in China. Although not many studies have been found in Korea and Japan to understand the research trends, there have been many clinical reports, and researchers are more interested in herbal medicine than acupuncture treatment. In China, where many papers were searched, there were more papers related to herbal medicine than acupuncture treatment. Acupuncture treatment was highly interested by researchers in certain acupoints and stimulation methods, and herbal medicine was found to seek diversity in drug prescription and use. Conclusions : In this study, we were able to understand the research trends of Korea, Japan, and China, and provided information that could be useful as a basic data for establishing the direction of Korean medical research on IBS in the future.

  • This analysis of trends in research on children's temperament published in Korean journals during the 25years dating from 1980 consisted of articles from 10 reliable journals related to child studies and analyzed for research frequency, contents, and methodology. Results showed that 51 research articles on children's temperament were published during this period, most of them in child studies and early childhood education/educare journals. The main content of research was the role of temperament in development. Most of the studies used methods categorized as quantitative and non-experimental; subjects were more than 100 children younger than school age with their mothers as adult subjects. Instruments validated in Korea and based on the individual approach and quantitative data analysis methods were used frequently.
