  • In this research We investigated the effect of UV/O3, $O_3$ treatments of Indium-tin oxide(ITO) surface on the performance of organic light emitting devices(OLEDs). The fundamental structure of OLEDs was ITO(anode) / TPD(Hole Transport Layer) / $Alq_3$ / Al(cathode). We performed UV/O3, $O_3$ treatments and found that both treatments enhanced the performance of OLEDs. Current-Voltage, Luminance-Voltage characteristics were measured at room temperature.

  • The multi-environment PDF model coupled with flamelet generated manifolds(FGM) has been developed for a large eddy simulation of turbulent partially premixed lifted flame. This approach has a capability to realistically account for the transport and evolution of probability density function for mixture fraction and progress variable with the manageable computational burden. Using the tabulated chemistry, it is possible to track radical distributions which is important to predict autoignition process with the vitiated coflow environment. Numerical results indicate that the present yields the good agreement with experimental data in terms of mixture fraction, temperature, and species mass fractions.

  • The multi-environment probability density function model has been applied to simulate the turbulent $CH_4/H_2$ flames under MILD conditions. The direct quadrature method of moments (DQMOM) has been adopted to solve the transport PDF equation due to its computational efficiency and robustness. The IEM model represents the micromixing process. The numerical results obtained in this study are precisely compared with experimental data in terms of unconditional means and conditional means for scalar field including temperature and species mass fraction.

  • This paper describes the influence of nutrient salts eluted from the bottom of a closed water area where polluted sediment has been deposited by inflowing river water. The elution pattern was monitored at our experimental facility. Both the sediment pore water and water above the bottom were sampled using a dialyzer sampler (peeper). The pore water of the eutrophicated sediment contained a large amount of nutrient salts, and the effect of elution was confined to a limited area of the bottom surface. The nutrient concentration of the sediment pore water was closely related to both the water temperature and dissolved oxygen (DO) concentration. The eluted nutrients from the sediment provided a source for phytoplankton and algae growth. This experimental data indicated that the water quality of the surface was not directly connected to the eluted nutrient salts, while it was indirectly affected by the total ecosystem, including all the organisms within an area and their environment.

  • $TiB_2$ ceramics were oxidized at 800, 900 and $1000^{\circ}C$ in air for 40 hr, and their oxidation property was investigated using TGA, XRD, SEM and EPMA. The oxidation resistance decreased with an increase in oxidation temperature. The scale was essentially composed of $TiO_2$ only. $B_2$$O_3$ formed during oxidation escaped from the $TiO_2$ oxide scale owing to its high vapor pressure. This made the oxide scale highly porous and thick. The oxidation reaction was mainly governed by the inward transport of oxygen.$ TiO_2$ existing at the outermost scale grew into peculiarly shaped blades, as the reaction progressed.

  • As high temperature superconductor applications became a reality due to increase in coated conductor performance, it is important to understand their stability behavior to design safe electrical power systems. We have experimentally studied the dependence of quench and recovery characteristics of coated conductors on the amplitude of current and duration time. The sample used in the present study is stabilized with stainless steel. Stability tests of 3 cm long sample were performed in a liquid nitrogen bath cooling condition by applying a short period over current pulses for 50 and 100 ms, with amplitude up to ~ 6 times of the critical current. The transport current that follows before and after the current pulse was fixed about ~85% the critical current. We analyzed the quench recovery using the current voltage characteristic.

  • The continuous energy Monte Carlo neutron transport code, MC21, was coupled to the CTF subchannel thermal-hydraulics code using a combination of Consortium for Advanced Simulation of Light Water Reactors (CASL) tools and in-house Python scripts. An MC21/CTF solution for VERA Core Physics Benchmark Progression Problem 6 demonstrated good agreement with MC21/COBRA-IE and VERA solutions. The MC21/CTF solution for VERA Core Physics Benchmark Progression Problem 7, Watts Bar Unit 1 at beginning of cycle hot full power equilibrium xenon conditions, is the first published coupled Monte Carlo neutronics/subchannel T-H solution for this problem. MC21/CTF predicted a critical boron concentration of 854.5 ppm, yielding a critical eigenvalue of $0.99994{\pm}6.8E-6$ (95% confidence interval). Excellent agreement with a VERA solution of Problem 7 was also demonstrated for integral and local power and temperature parameters.

  • In this study the general pharmacological profiles of AS6 on the central nervous system, cardiovascular and the other organs were investigated. The dosages given were 0, 250, 500 and 1000 mg/kg and drugs were orally administered. The animals used for this study were mice, rats and guinea pigs. Significant increases (p<0.01) in the charcoal transport capacity were observed at the high dose of 1000 mg/kg and significant increases in retardation of pain threshold were observed in the test using acetic acid in all dosed animals. However, AS6 showed no noticeable effects on general behavior, motor coordination, spontaneous locomotor activity, hexobarbital-induced sleep time, body temperature, analgesic activity in the test using hot plate method and anticonvulsant activity. Furthermore no noticeable effects were observed in cardiovascular functions in the isolated rat heart, contraction and relaxation of the smooth muscle in the isolated guinea ileum, gastric secretion and renal function.

  • Existing oceanographic data indicate that tidal mixing fronts generally prevail in the Eastern Yellow Sea along the Korean coast. In the Western part, these fronts seem to be much weaker. These fronts are believed to be generated mostly by spatially different tidal mixing. The geostrophic adjustment model applied to the observed density structure gives the mixed coastal water flowing northward and the offshore waters(both surface warm and bottom cold waters) flowing southward along the Korean coast. The transport of each water amounts to O(10$\^$4/)m$\^$3//sec.

  • The translational and reactive parts of thermal conductivity of a partially ionized solar magneto-plasma gas have been calculated based on Yun and Wyller's formulation (1972) along with Devoto's theory(1968). The computed results are presented as functions of temperature and pressure for given magnetic field strengths. The results of the calculations show that for most photospheric conditions the magnetic field does not play any important role in characterizing thermal properties of the ionized gas. However, when the gas pressure is low(e.g., P<10 dynes/$cm^2)$) the field becomes extremely effective even if its strength is quite small (e.g., B<0.1 gauss). The reactive part of the thermal transport is found to be very important when the gas is undertaking active ionization.
