  • Tipping takes significant part in hospitality industry, especially in hotels and restaurants. According to the recent studies, over US$26.4B were given to the service personnel in the restaurant industry from the customers as tips in 2003 in the US alone. As a result of these developments, tipping has been a legitimate area of academic inquiry in many foreign countries but here in Korea this custom has not drawn much attention due to service charge being placed by the government since 1979. The purpose of this study is to analyse the perception and attitude of tip recipients and compare it with the results of previous studies carried out by Shamir and Parrett. Statistical analyses were carried out to compare the differences of perception between tip recipients and non recipients on the staff role conflict, job satisfaction, pay satisfaction and attitude toward the guests. It is suggested from the finding that the current service charge system needs to be taken into consideration for possible revision or alteration as the management environment and customer needs in the hospitality industry in Korea are changing at an enormous pace. As this study focused on the perception of employees, further study on the perception of customers to tipping is highly recommended.

  • Due to recent developments in smartphones, lifestyles centred around their use are rapidly changing across many societal areas. Mobility apps, widely used by a large number of people, have also become popular among tourists for travel purposes. This trend is exemplified by the premium taxi industry, which champions smart mobility services-an essential component of smart tourism-to attract tourists as customers. This study investigates how smart mobility service attributes influence memorable user experiences from the perspective of both residents and tourists. It also examines the consequent image of smart mobility and users' intentions to reuse these services. To this end, a survey and analysis were conducted with 320 registered customers of domestic premium taxi companies, which are expanding their services to cater to both residents and tourists. The analysis confirmed all hypotheses. Among the attributes of smart mobility, involvement played a crucial role in shaping the image of smart mobility, more so than refreshment or novelty. Furthermore, the image of smart mobility significantly impacted the intention to reuse it. Based on these findings, this study presents practical implications regarding which empirical factors should be managed from a smart mobility perspective to foster a positive image and encourage reuse.

We will expand the prior study to find out the impact of the self-service technology of Incheon Airport. Research design, data, and Methodology - The thesis was conducted on people using self-service technology at Incheon International Airport from July to August 2019. Part 307 of the valid questionnaires were used for this final analysis. The collected data were used to perform frequency, factor, reliability, and multiple regression analyses using the SPSS statistical package. Result - Individual aspects of external variables, service aspects, and systems aspects have been shown to affect usability and perceived ease of use. Usability and convenience have been shown to serve as intermediaries for users' technological acceptance. Conclusion - The perceived convenience and usefulness of Incheon International Airport has been shown to affect self-service users, while convenience and usefulness have been shown to serve as intermediaries for technology acceptance purposes. In other words, raising expectations for convenience, rapid processing, benefits and so on will have a positive impact on the intent to accept.

As scanning largely perceived environment, the management need to maintain a systemized perspective on their environment in order to make profitable decisions(strategic choice). Accordingly, this article presents a theoretical framework that top managers or managers of food service organizations can use to analyze their environment as an integrated and systemized whole - a model that take into account the interrelationships among domains of environment and strategic choice. Also, the results of this study will be a guideline for further expanded environmental scanning.

  • The aims of this study was to suggest a new efficiency measurement indicator for evaluating the management efficiency of decision making units(DMUs) in the contract foodservice industry. The data envelopment analysis(DEA) model which considers multiple inputs and outputs and looking for benchmarks, was used to compare the productivity of DMUs. We considered sales, profits, and customer satisfaction as output variables and it adopted food cost, labor cost and administrative expense as input variables. The results of applying DEA revealed relatively efficient types of business and service types. The efficiency of school units was highest and the mired service type was the most efficient one. In this study the CCR model efficiency was analysed with profit and the customer satisfaction index by the matrix method. DEA efficiency was correlated with profit but there was no correlation between DEA efficiency and the customer satisfaction index.
