Development of Discontinuous Grinding Wheel with Multi-Porous Grooves (다기공홈형 단속연삭지석의 개발에 관한 연구)

  • Conventionally, grinding of stainless steel, aluminium alloy, copper alloy, and titanum alloy is difficult due to the mechanical properties such as low hardness, high toughness which result in the loading of wheel and the poor surface finish. In order to grind this sort of materials easily, discontinuous grinding wheel with multi-porous grooves was newly developed. The multi-porous grooves were formed during wheel production. This discontinuous grinding wheel drastically increases the grinding performance. It is desirable to use the discontinuous grinding wheel when grinding materials with high efficiency and accuracy which is impossible by conventional wheels. In this paper, the construction and manufacturing method of grinding wheel with multi-porous grooves are explained. The grinding charateristics of discontinuous grinding wheel was also illustrated.

  • 본 연구에서는 흑연(graphite)과 티타늄(titanum; Ti) 타겟이 양쪽에 부착되어 있는 비대칭 마그네트론 스퍼터링 장치를 이용하여 Ti이 도핑되어진 다이아몬드상 탄소박막(Ti doped Diamond-like carbon, DLC:Ti)을 증착하였다. 흑연과 티타늄 타겟의 파워는 고정하고 기판에 음의 DC 바이어스를 인가하여 DC 바이어스 변화에 따른 DLC:Ti 박막을 증착하였다. 증착되어진 박막의 음의 DC 바이어스의 변화에 따라 변화되어지는 경도와 마찰계수, 표면의 거칠기, 접촉각 등의 트라이볼로지 특성들을 분석하였으며, XPS와 라만등의 분석법을 이용하여 박막의 구조적 특성과 트라이볼로지 특성과의 관계를 고찰하였다.

Titanium Dioxide Recovery from Soda-roasted Spent SCR Catalysts through Sulphuric Acid Leaching and Hydrolysis Precipitation (소다배소 처리된 탈질 폐촉매로부터 황산침출과 가수분해 침전반응에 의한 TiO2의 회수)

  • Sulphuric acid (H2SO4) leaching and hydrolysis were experimented for the recovery of titanum dioxide (TiO2) from the water-leached residue followed by soda-roasting spent SCR catalysts. Sulphuric acid leaching of Ti was carried out with leachate concentration (4~8 M) and the others were fixed (temp.: 70 ℃, leaching time: 3 hrs, slurry density: 100 g/L, stirring speed: 500 rpm). For recovering of Ti from the leaching solution, hydrolysis precipitation was conducted at 100 ℃ for 2 hours in various mixing ratio (leached solution:distilled water) of 1:9 to 5:5. The maximum leachability was reached to 95.2 % in 6 M H2SO4 leachate. on the other hand, the leachability of Si decreased dramatically 91.7 to 3.0 % with an increase of H2SO4 concentration. Hydrolysis precipitation of Ti was proceeded with leaching solution of 8 M H2SO4 with the lowest content of Si. The yield of precipitation increased proportionally with a dilution ratio of leaching solution. Moreover, it increased generally by adding 0.2 g TiO2 as a precipitation seed to the diluted leaching solution. Ultimately, 99.8 % of TiO2 can be recovered with the purity of 99.46 % from the 1:9 diluted solution.

Nanoparticle Effect on Durability of Carbon fiber/Epoxy Composites in Saline Water Environment (염수환경에서 탄소섬유/에폭시 복합재료의 내구성에 미치는 나노입자의 영향)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the durability of carbon fiber/epoxy composites (CFRP) in a saline water environment. The carbon fiber/epoxy composites were modified to use nanoparticles such as carbon nanotubes and titanum oxide. These hybrid composites were exposed to a saline water environment for a certain period. The weight gain according to the immersion time, a quasi-static tensile test, and micro-graphic characterization were used to investigate the samples exposed to the saline water environment. The weight gains increased with increasing immersion time. The weight gains of the hybrid composites were lower than that for pure CFRP throughout the entire immersion time. The tensile strengths decreased with increasing immersion time. The tensile strengths of the hybrid composites were higher than that of the pure CFRP throughout the entire immersion time. The pure CFRP was observed to be more degraded than the hybrid composites in the saline water environment. Therefore, it was concluded that the addition of nanoparticles to CFRP could lead to improved durability in a saline water environment.

Development of Ultrasonic Machine with Force Controlled Position Servo System (가공력 제어 위치 서보 시스템을 이용한 초음파 가공기의 개발)

  • The machining technology for the brittle materials such as ceramics are applied to the fields of MEMS(micro electromechanical system) by the progress of new machining technologies such as Etching, Diamond machining, Micro drilling, EDM(Electro discharge machining), ECDM(Electro discharge machining), USM(Ultrasonic machining), LBM(Laser beam machining), EBM(Electron beam machining). Especially, the USM technology can be applied to the dieletric brittle materials such as silicon, borosilicate glass, silicon nitride, quartz and ceramics with high aspect ratio. The micro machining system with machining force controlled position servo is developed in this paper and the optimized ultrasonic machining algorithm is constructed by the force controlled position servo control. The load cell is adapted in the force measuring and the servo control algorithm, suit for the ultrasonic machining characteristics, is estabilished with using the PID auto-tunning functions at the PMAC system which is generally adapted in the field of robot industries. The precision force signal amplifier is constructed with high precision operational amplifier AD524. The vacuum adsorption chuck which is made of titanum and internal flow line is engraved, is used in the workpiece fixing. The mahining results by USM shows that there are some deviation between the force command and the actual machining force that the servo control algorithm should be applied in the machining procedures. Therefore, the constant force controlled position servo system is developed for the micro USM system and by the examination machining process in USM, the stable USM system is realized by tracking the average value of machining force.

  • For the successful development of korean exploraton program, KARI started development of ground test model for lunar lander from last year. In order to secure core technology for space propulsion system, Koreanization of propellant tank is proceeding and it will be used for final assembly and test for ground test model. In this paper, the development result of titanum tank shell and verification test result was presented.

  • Main function of the Press forming Machine is the forming for plates. The head of the Press forming machine consist of several parts. It was named Press forming-contraction and Press forming_expansion according to formability of plates. Aluminium and Titanum plates are forming by using the Press forming machine. In this study, we analyzed sheet metal forming including plastic deformation and the contact pressure in the bearing. Finite element analysis results of Press forming-contraction and Press forming_expansion show the similar results of the actual specimen plates and the bearing contact pressures show the acceptable level of stress in both aluminum and titanium specimens.

Synthesis and Characterization of Anatase TiO2 Powder using a Homogeneous Precipitation Method (균일침전법을 이용한 아나타제형 TiO2 분말의 제조 및 특성 평가)

  • This paper studies the experimental method that uses the homogeneous precipitation method to prepare mica flakes coated with anatase-type titania pearlescent pigment with urea as precipitant. The optimum technology parameters, the chemical composition, the microstructure, and the color property of resulting pigments are discussed. The coating principle of mica coated titania with various coating thickness is analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy(TEM) and tested by spectrophotometer analysis. The colored nanocrystalline pigments with different morphology and coating thickness 45-170 nm were prepared by homogeneous precipitation treatment of $TiOSO_4$(titanum oxysulfate) aqueous solutions. Characterizations on the pigments show that the pearlescent effects of the pigments depend mainly on mica size, thickness of the metal oxide deposit, its chemical composition, and crystal structure.

  • 현재 디스플레이 시장은 급변하게 변화하고 있다. 특히, 비정질 실리콘의 경우 디스플레이의 채널층으로 주로 상용화되어 왔다. 비정질 실리콘 기반의 박막 트랜지스터는 제작의 경제성 및 균일성을 가지고 있어서 널리 상용화되고 있다. 하지만 비정질 실리콘의 경우 낮은 전자 이동도(< $1\;cm^2/Vs$)로 인하여 디스플레이의 대면적화에 부적합하며, 광학적으로 불투명한 특성을 갖기 때문에 차세대 디스플레이의 응용에 불리한 점이 있다. 이런 문제점의 대안으로 현재 국내외 여러 연구 그룹에서 산화물 기반의 반도체를 박막 트랜지스터의 채널층으로 사용하려는 연구가 진행중이다. 산화물 기반의 반도체는 밴드갭이 넓어서 광학적으로 투명하고, 상온에서 증착이 가능하며, 비정질 실리콘에 비해 월등히 우수한 이동도를 가짐으로 디스플레이의 대면적화에 유리하다. 특히 Zinc Oxide, Tin Oxide, Titanum Oxide등의 산화물이 연구되고 있으며, indium이나 aluminum등을 첨가하여 전기적인 특성을 향상시키려는 노력을 보이고 있다. Tin oxide의 경우 천연적으로 풍부한 자원이며, 낮은 가격이 큰 이점으로 작용을 한다. 또한, $SnO_2$의 경우 ITO나 ZnO 열적으로 화학적 과정에서 더 안정하다고 알려져 있다. 본 연구에서는 $SnO_2$ 기반의 박막 트랜지스터를 DC magnetron sputtering를 이용하여 상온에서 제작을 하였다. 일반적으로, $SnO_2$의 경우 증착 과정에서 산소 분압 조절과 oxygen vacancy 조절를 통하여 박막의 전도성을 조절할 수 있다. 이렇게 제작된 $SnO_2$의 박막을 High-resolution X-ray diffractometer, photoluminescence spectra, Hall effect measurement를 이용하여 전기적 및 광학적 특성을 알 수 있다. 그리고 후열처리 통하여 박막의 전기적 특성 변화를 확인하였다. gate insulator의 처리를 통하여 thin film의 interface의 trap density를 감소시킴으로써 소자의 성능 향상을 시도하였다. 그리고 semiconductor analyzer로 소자의 출력 특성 및 전이 특성을 평가하였다. 그리고 Temperature, Bias Temperature stability, 경시변화 등의 다양한 조건에서의 안정성을 평가하여 안정성이 확보된다면 비정질 실리콘을 대체할 유력한 후보 중의 하나가 될 것이라고 기대된다.
