수소 첨가 열처리에 따른 Ti-6Al-4V 합금 분말의 격자 변형 및 내산화성 향상 (Lattice Deformation and Improvement Oxidation Resistance of Ti-6Al-4V Alloy Powders Prepared by Hydrogen Added Argon Heat Treatment)

  • In the present work, a new hydrogen added argon heat treatment process that prevents the formation of hydrides and eliminates the dehydrogenation step, is developed. Dissolved hydrogen has a good effect on sintering properties such as oxidation resistance and density of greens. This process can also reduce costs and processing time. In the experiment, commercially available Ti-6Al-4V powders are used. The powders are annealed using tube furnace in an argon atmosphere at $700^{\circ}C$ and $900^{\circ}C$ for 120 min. Hydrogen was injected temporarily during argon annealing to dissolve hydrogen, and a dehydrogenation process was performed simultaneously under an argon-only atmosphere. Without hydride formation, hydrogen was dissolved in the Ti-6Al-4V powder by X-ray diffraction and gas analysis. Hydrogen is first solubilized on the beta phase and expanded the beta phases' cell volume. TGA analysis was carried out to evaluate the oxidation resistance, and it is confirmed that hydrogen-dissolved Ti-6Al-4V powders improves oxidation resistance more than raw materials.

  • In the present work, Inconel 718 alloy is additively manufactured on the Ti-6Al-4V alloy, and a functionally graded material is built between Inconel 718 and Ti-6Al-4V alloys. The vanadium interlayer is applied to prevent the formation of detrimental intermetallic compounds between Ti-6Al-4V and Inconel 718 by direct joining. The additive manufacturing of Inconel 718 alloy is performed by changing the laser power and scan speed. The microstructures of the joint interface are characterized by scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and micro X-ray diffraction. Additive manufacturing is successfully performed by changing the energy input. The micro Vickers hardness of the additive manufactured Inconel 718 dramatically increased owing to the presence of the Cr-oxide phase, which is formed by the difference in energy input.

  • 6종류의 조성을 가진 TiAl계 합금, 즉 Ti-(42, 44)Al-2Nb-4V, Ti-(42, 44)Al-4Nb-2V 및 Ti-(42, 44)Al-4Nb-2Cr을 아크용해법으로 제조한 후, 이들의 산화성질을 조사하였다. 700, 800 및 $900^{\circ}C$의 대기 중, 50시간동안의 등온 및 반복 산화실험으로부터, 산화저항은 Ti-(42, 44)Al-2Nb-4V, Ti-(42, 44)Al-4Nb-2V 및 Ti-(42, 44)Al-4Nb-2Cr의 순으로 증가함을 알 수 있었다. 내산화성에서 V은 해로운 원소이고 Cr은 유익한 원소이었다. 산화 중 모든 모재 구성원서는 외부확산하였고 분위기중으로 부터의 산소는 내부확산하는 상호확산이 관찰되었으며, 생성되는 산화물은 최외각 $\textrm{TiO}_2$층, 상부 ($\textrm{TiO}_2+\textrm{Al}_2\textrm{O}_3$) 혼합층 및 하부 $\textrm{TiO}_2$-잉여층으로 이루어진 3층 산화물구조로 구성되어 있었다.

  • Recently, various studies have been conducted on additive manufacturing technology developed using metal materials. In this study, a numerical analysis was introduced to analyze the effects of the thermal deformation and residual stress which arise during the SLM (selective laser melting) manufacturing process. A phase-transformation mechanism is implemented with the use of the Ti-6Al-4V material, in which a solid-state phase transformation (SSPT) can be induced during a numerical analysis. In this case, the phase of the Ti-6Al-4V material changes from a powder to a solid state and then to the Martensite phase in sequence during heating and cooling steps. The numerical analysis during the SLM process was verified by comparing the results of tensile tests with those from the numerical analysis based on the SSPT material properties.

Ti-6Al-4V 합금의 열간 전단 스피닝 (Shear Spinning of Ti-6Al-4V Alloy at Hot Working Temperature)

  • A method for estimating the shear spinnability is suggested, and it was applied to sheets of Ti-6Al-4V alloy for estimation of shear spinnability at hot working temperature. The effective working temperature was $850^{\circ}C$ or above. The hot spinning operation was carried out in two steps of shear spinning. The reduction of thickness at the first step was 50% and 45% at the second, and the overall reduction of thickness was 72.4%. The cone spinning process could produce a uniform wall thickness with only a few percent tolerance, proving itself appropriate for making cones of Ti-6Al-4V alloy with uniform wall thickness.

  • High temperature deformation behavior of $\alpha\;and\;\beta$ phase of Ti-6Al-4V was investigated within the framework of a self-consistent approach at various temperature ranges. To examine the flow behavior of u-phase, Ti-7.0Al-1.5V alloy was used, whose chemical composition is close to that of the $\alpha$ phase in Ti-6Al-4V at hot working temperatures. The flow stress of $\beta$ phase was predicted by using self-consistent approach. The flow stress of $\alpha$ phase was higher than that of $\beta$ phase above $750^{\circ}C$, while the $\beta$ phase revealed higher flow stress than a phase at $650^{\circ}C$. It was found that the relative strength and strain rate ratio between $\alpha\;and\;\beta$ phase significantly varied with temperature. From this approach, the mode for grain matrix deformation was proposed as a mixed type of both iso-stress and iso-strain rate modes.

Hf, Ta가 첨가된 Ti-l5Sn-4Nb계 생체용 합금의 미세조직 및 기계적 성질에 관한 연구 (A Study on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Hf, Ta Added Ti-l5Sn-4Nb system Alloys for Biomaterial)

  • Ta and Hf added Ti-l5Sn-4Nb alloys without V and Al elements for biomaterial were melted by arc furnace in response to recent concerns about the long term safety of Ti-6Al-4V alloy. All specimens were homogenized at $1000^{\circ}C$ and solution treatment was performed at $812^{\circ}C$ and aging treatment at $500^{\circ}C$. The microstructure and mechanical properties were analysed by optical micrograph, hardness tester and instron. Ti-l5Sn-4Nb system alloys showed widmanstatten microstructure which is typical microstructure in $\alpha$$\beta$ type Ti alloys. The Ti-l5Sn-4Nb-2Hf and Ti-l5Sn-4Nb-2Ta alloys showed better hardness and tensile strength compared with Ti-6Al-4V. The result of XPS analysis, Ti-l5Sn-4Nb alloy in air atmosphere consisted of $TiO_2$, SnO and NbO.
