  • This paper suggests a two-phase look-ahead Banker's algorithm for efficient operation of capacitated automated production systems. The algorithm improves the ability of detecting safe states of the previous one by considering the possibility of processing each job to completion at once as well as partial movement between jobs. The improved performance of the proposed algorithm is testified by performing numerical experiment in terms of (i) detection rate of safe states and (ii) system throughput and verified by using paired t-test.

  • IEEE 802.11p is a representative PHY/MAC layer standard in vehicular communications. The performance of IEEE 802.11p based communication systems has been measured in various criterions such as link setup time, error rate, and throughput for the case of one-to-one. In this paper, we measure the performance of IEEE 802.11p based communication systems in large capacity transmission. The performance of large capacity transmission is measured by considering the maximum 32 simultaneous transmission including one-to-one transmission. We consider two transmission schemes, i.e., broadcasting and unicasting, and the performance is represented as the receiving rate and throughput.

  • This paper focuses on the fundamental issues for improving the efficiency and throughput of the AC PDP (Plasma Display Panel) manufacturing. The properties of the MgO protective layer affect the PDP efficiency. Especially, the secondary electron emission efficiency was affected on the deposition rate of MgO during the evaporation. In this study, the deposition rate of 5 $\AA$/s has given the maximum efficiency value of 0.05 It is demonstrated that the impurity gases such as $H_2O$, $CO_2$, CO or $N_2$, and $O_2$ can be remained inside the PDP panel before sealing and the amount of the impurity gases decreased rapidly as the base vacuum level increased, especially near $10^{-5}$ torr. The fundamental solution in order to overcome these problems is the vacuum in-line sealing process from the MgO evaporation to the final sealing of the panel without breaking the vacuum. We have demonstrated this fundamental process technology and shown the feasibility. The firing voltage was reduced down to 285 V at the base vacuum value of $10^{-6}$ torr, whreras it was about 328 V at the base vacuum value of $10^{-3}$ torr.

  • This study tries to evaluate the effect of ITT introduction in Busan New Port. The study used the estimation model of the number of vehicles required in accordance with the backhaul rate. The model used big data, COPINO e-document for one year in 2015. COPINO recorded the event such as truck ID, container ID, ATA, damage etc when truck arrived at gate. The study finds important information to estimate the required number of trucks for handling current ITT containers in Busan New Port: Daily throughput in Busan New Port is 1650 vans, especially night throughput recorded peak level in 1800 hours to 2400 hours, the throughput between adjacent terminals recorded high, i.e PNIT to HPNT. The transportation capability for 6 hours between terminals is from 4 vans to 7 vans. The required trucks are estimated 89 currently without considering peak level. If we change the back haul rate from current 20% to 40%, 60% and 80%, how much would the cost drop? It was discovered that, if it is raised to 40%, 60% and 80%, the number of vehicle required will be reduced from 89 (current) to 76, 65 and 59. It was also discovered that the total savings will reduce down to 12%, 25% and 34%.

  • In this paper, we present experimental results evaluating the performance of the Multipath TCP over shared bottleneck path in series of benchmark tests. In summary, we find that the Multipath TCP's fairness as well as its competitive responds to the change of network conditions such as latency, loss rate${\cdots}$ MPTCP is extremely unfair and powerful with regular TCP in ideal network conditions but its throughput decreases clearly even less than regular TCP in worse network conditions with very high latency, higher packet loss rate.

  • Traditionally, kinetics of brain influx of drugs has been evaluated by a number of experimental techniques. Brain uptake index and in situ brain perfusion study have been used for the determination of the kinetics; However, these methods generally focus on the accuracy of the uptake rate into the brain rather than the speed of the determination. In addition, application of radiolabelled substrates (e.g., $_{14}$C-labelled sucrose) further impedes the wide spread acceptance of these techniques for the application of high throughput screening system. • In Optical Burst Switching(OBS) networks, burst loss due to contention significantly affects the performance of networks. Even if many contention resolution schemes have been proposed, most of them have focused mainly on passively resolving contentions instead of avoiding them. In this paper, we propose an active contention avoidance scheme which controls a burst sending rate according to traffic load and burst loss in a network. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can more effectively reduce the burst loss rate compared to existing OBS model with and without burst sending rate control, and at the same time guarantees throughput.

  • This paper explores the throughput performance of CSMA/CA-based DCF protocol over both ideal channels and fading channels with payload size at the MAC layer in the 802.11a wireless LAN. In the ideal channel, there are no errors and at the transmission cycle there is one and only one active station which always has a packet to send and other stations can only accept packets and provide acknowledgements. In the fading channel, bit errors appear in the channel randomly and the number of stations is assumed to be fixed. And each station always has packets for transmission. In other words, we operate in saturation conditions. Up to now conventional research work about DCF throughput analysis of IEEE 802.11 a wireless LAN has been done over the ideal channel, but this paper is done over the Rayleigh/Ricean fading channel. So, the ratio of received average energy per bit-to-noise power spectral density $E_b/N_o$ is set to 25 dB and the ratio of direct-to-diffuse signal power in each sub-channel $\xi$ is set to 6 for combined Rayleigh/Ricean fading channel. In conclusion, it is shown that the saturation throughput is always less than the maximum throughput at all the payload size and the higher the transmission rate be, the higher the decreasing rate of saturation throughput compared to the maximum throughput be.

  • In this Paper, Analyse the Steady State Behavior of TCP and TFRC with Packet Error when both TCP and TFRC Flows Co-exist in the Network. First, Model the Network with TCP and TFRC Connections as a Discrete Time System. Second, Calculate Average Round Trip Time of the Packet Between Source and Destination on Packet Loss Environment. Then Derive the Steady State Performance i.e. Throughput of TCP and TFRC, and Average Buffer Size of RED Router Based on the Analytic Network Model. The Throughput of TCP and TFRC Connection Decrease Rapidly with the Growth of Sending Window Size and Their Transmission Rate but Their Declines become Smoothly when the Number of Sending Window Arrives on Threshold Value. The Average Queue Length of RED Router Increases Slowly on Low Transmission Rate but Increases Rapidly on High Transmission Rate.
