Chemical Reaction of Pentacene Growth on Hybrid Type Insulator by Annealing Temperature (하이브리드 타입 절연막 위에서 열처리 온도에 따른 펜타센 생성과 관련된 화학반응)

  • Pentacene channel for organic thin film transistor was deposited on the SiOC film by thermal evaporation. The growth of pentacene is related with the Diels-Alder reaction and the nucleophilic reaction by the thermal induction. The surface is an important factor to control the recursive Diels-Alder reaction for growing of pentacene on SiOC far The terminal C=C double bond of pentacene molecule was broken easily as a result of attack of the nucleophilic reagents on the surface of SiOC film. The nucleophilic reaction can be accelerated by increasing temperature on surface, and it maks pentacene to grow hardly on the SiOC film with a flow rate ratio of $O_2/(BTMSM+O_2)=0.5$ due to its inorganic property. The nucleophlic reaction mechanism is $SN_2(bimolecular nucleophilic substitution)$ type.

  • MgO Protecting layer in AC PDP prevents ion bombardment in discharge plasma. The MgO layer also has the additional importance in lowering the firing voltage due to a large secondary electron emission coefficient. Until now, the MgO protecting layer is mainly prepared by E-beam Evaporation. However, the optimum activation manufacturing process of MgO thin film wasn't well known. Therefore in this study, after MgO protecting layer is prepared on dielectric layer by E-beam evaporation and liquid MgO spin coating, we carried out activation process of MgO thin film as a parameter of Temperature, Operating time and Operating pressure. In addition, discharge characteristics are also studied as a parameter of activation conditions.

  • We obtained in-situ $MgB_2$ thin films in an one-step process using ESSD (Evaporation Sputtering Simultaneous Deposition) method. In our approach. the Ma evaporator is designed specially Mg and B are simultaneously evaporated and sputtered, respectively, in the specially designed ESSD chamber. The background pressure was less than $1{\times}10^{-6}$ Torr. The substrate temperature was kept at 623 K. The film properties were investigated by both electrical resistivity and PPMS. As a result, typical $T_c$ of films was 11 K.

  • We studied the properties of vapor flux distributions of nozzle shaped thermal evaporation sources and the factors, which can change the flux distributions such as nozzle structure. We used a simulation and experiment methods for this study. By using the results of our study, we improved the Circular Nozzle Source, which can make uniform thin films without substrate rotation, into more efficient source.

Fabrication and Characterization of Ferroelectric PFN Thin Film by Sol-Gel Processing (솔-젤법에 의한 강유전성 PFN 박막의 제조 및 특성평가)

  • Ferroelectric Pb(Fe1/2Nb1/2)O3 thin films were successfully fabricated on ITO/Glass substrate by sol-gel proces-sing and characterized to determine the dielectric and electric properties. Viscosity of PEN sol measured to investigate rheological properties was 3.25 cP which was proper for coating. The sol also showed Newtonian behavior. RTA(Rapid Thermal Annealing) was used for the annealing of the thin film and 1200~1700$\AA$ thick PEN thin films were fabricated by repeating the intermediate and the final annealing. After the deposition of Pt as top electrode by vacuum evaporation dielectric and electric properties were measured. Dielectric properties of FFN thin film were enhanced by increasing the perovskite phase fraction with increasing the annealing temperature. Measured dielectric constant of 1700$\AA$ PFN thin film annealed at $650^{\circ}C$ was 890 at 1kHz Capacitatnce density and dielectric loss were 47 fF/${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$2 and 0.47 respectively. As a result of measuring Curie temperature PFN thin films had Curie point with a rang of 110~12$0^{\circ}C$ and showed broad dielectric peak at that point. Leakage current of the PFN thin films were increased with increasing the annealing tempera-ture.

  • Surface degreasing method with premixed flame is proposed as the removal method of adherent impurities on materials. Effects of adherent molecular thickness and surface potential energy on evaporation rate of adherent molecules and molecular evaporation mechanism were investigated and discussed in the present study. Evaporation processes of adherent molecules on surface molecules were simulated by the molecular dynamics method to understand thermal phenomena on evaporation processes of adherent molecules by using high temperature gas like burnt gas. The calculation system was composed of a high temperature gas region, an adherent molecular region and a surface molecular region. Both the thickness of adherent molecules and potential parameters affceted the evaporation rate of adherent molecules and evaporation mechanism in molecular scale.

  • The $SnO_2$/(n)Si solar cell was fabricated by electron beam evaporation method, and their properties were investigated. In proportion to increase of substrate and annealing temperature, the conductivity of $SnO_2$ thin film was increased, but its optical transmission decreases because of increasing optical absorption of free electrons in the thin film. $SnO_2$/Si Solar cell characteristics were improved by annealing, but the solar cells was deteriorated by heat treatment above 500[.deg. C]. The optimal outputs of $SnO_2$/Si solar cell through above investigations were $V_{\var}$:350[mV], $J_{sc}$ ;16.53[mA/c $m^{2}$], FF;0.41, .eta.=4.74[%]

  • In this study, the inorganic thin-film passivation layer was newly adopted to protect the organic layer from moisture and oxygen. Using the electron beam evaporation system, the various kinds of inorganic thin-films were deposited onto the organic layer and their interface properties between organic and inorganic layer were investigated. In this investigation, the MgO layer showed the most suitable properties, and based on this result, the time dependent emission properties were estimated for the OLED with and without passivation layer. In this experiment, we can see that the time-dependent emission properties of MgO passivated OLED had longer life-time compared to non-passivated OLED. Therefore, we can consider that the MgO thin film is one of the most suitable candidates for the thin-film passivation layer of OLED.

  • All solid state thin film micro-batteries consisting of lithium metal anode, an amorphous LiPON electrolyte and cathode of vanadium oxide have been fabricated and characterized, which were fabricated with cell structure of Li/LiPON/V$_2$O$\sub$5/Pt. The vanadium oxide thin films were formed by d.c. reactive sputtering on Pt current collector. After deposition of vanadium oxide films, in-situ growths of lithium phosphorus oxynitride film were conducted by r.f. sputtering of Li$_3$PO$_4$ target in mixture gas of N$_2$ and O$_2$. The pure metal lithium film was deposited by thermal evaporation on thin film LiPON electrolyte. The cell capacity was about 45${\mu}$Ah/$\textrm{cm}^2$ $\mu\textrm{m}$ after 200 cycle. No appreciable degradation of the cell capacity could be observed after 50 cycles .

  • Transparent ac-PDP test panel was prepared via a combination of materials including ITO sustaining electrodes, thin film dielectric layer and nano-sized phosphor powders. The thin film dielectric layer was prepared by E-beam evaporation process and phosphor layer was deposited on metal mesh pattern by electrophoretic deposition process. The optical transmittance and luminance of the panel indicated that full color transparent ac-PDP is feasible with the approach.
