  • 수소를 연료로 하는 스크램제트 엔진의 수치해석에 비해 탄화수소를 연료로 하는 스크램제트 엔진의 수치해석이 적은 편이었다. 본 논문에서는 탄화수소 계열의 연료 중에 에틸렌을 연료로 하였고, 미공군연구소에 있는 Direct-connect 스크램제트 연소기를 모델로 2차원 수치해석을 수행한다. 에틸렌의 점화 지연 특성을 볼 수 있었고, 모델 스크램제트 내에 연소를 발생시키기 위해 Air throttling을 하였다.

초미립 WC-l0wt%Co 초경 분말의 소결시 입자 성장 억제제 첨가 효과 연구 (Effect of Grain Growth Inhibitor on Sintering of Nanophase WC-10wt%Co)

  • A radically new approach to the in situ synthesis of the consituent phases of a composite structure has enabled the production of a new WC/Co materials with an ultrafine microstructure. The process for synthesizing nanophase WC/Co powders consists of spray drying from solution to form a homogeneous precursor powder, and thermochemical conversion of the precursor powder to the nanophase WC/Co powder. Near theoretical density of pure nanophase WC-10 wt%Co has been obtained in only 30 sec at 140$0^{\circ}C$. But WC particles were grown up very rapidly with longer sintering time to get full density. To overcome coarsening of WC particle during sintering, VC, TaC and VC/TaC were used as the grain growth inhibitor with different amount respectively. VC/TaC doped WC-10 wt%Co was shown superior hardness and TRS and microstructure was maintained ultrafine scale (average WC size is less than 0.1 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$).

Development and Current Status of Gaseous Nitrocarburizing

  • Physical metallurgy aspects of gaseous ferritic nitrocarburising are reviewed in the light of basic studies undertaken since 1975 which have illustrated inconsistencies between the iron-carbon-nitrogen ternary phase diagram at $570^{\circ}C$ and the experimental observation of the co-existence of the ${\varepsilon}$ carbonitride phase and ferrite. Thermodynamic investigations by Xu and Li together with those by Slycke et al are reviewed to illustrate compatability between a modified isothermal section of the Fe-C-N system and the formation and growth of a monophased ${\varepsilon}$ structure under a variety of processing conditions. The implications of the modified diagram in terms of innovations in industrial ferritic nitrocarburising practice are discussed, together with limitations on the control of the process. The importance of the developing technology of black nitrocarburising for enhanced wear, fatigue, and corrosion resistance is emphasised. Basic studies and industrial status of austenitic nitrocarburising treatments are also reviewed, which highlight the importance of substrate strengthening for high load bearing applications of anti-scuff thermochemical treatments.

  • The thermochemical recycling of waste tires by pyrolysis is studied to recover the value added three by-products; a pyrolytic carbon black, a pyrolytic oil, and a non-condensable gas. The exhausted energy from pyrolysis of waste tires is converted for electricity power and process steam in cogeneration system. The characteristics of the pyrolysis recovered by-products as alternative energy resource are investigated with the design of a demonstration and a commercialization plant including cogeneration system, as called integrated pyrolysis cogeneration system.

  • A Single-crystalline Mn-Zn Ferrite (110 orientation) was masklessly etched by focused Ar laser irradiation in an H$_3$PO$_4$ solution. The depth of the etched grooves increases with increasing a laser power, decreasing a scan speed, and increasing the H$_3$PO$_4$concentration. The width of the etched grooves increases with a increasing laser power, but was relatively insensitive to the scan speed and H$_3$PO$_4$concentration. High etching rate of up to 714 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$/s and an aspect ratio of 6 for vertical slab structure have been obtained by the light-guiding effect of the laser bean in the H$_3$PO$_4$ solution.

  • Through two different techniques TGA and DSC the thermal decomposition processes of salicyaldehyde G-P complexes having the general formula: $$[MCl_2(L)_2]^{2+}$2Cl^-$; where L = salicyaldehyde carbohydrazone pyridinum cation, and M= Fe(III), Co(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II), have been studied. From the obtained thermogravimetric curves the following parameters n, $E_{\alpha}$, A, ${\Delta}S^{\neq}$, ${\Delta}H^{\neq}$ and ${\Delta}G^{\neq}$ were evaluated. The effect of the nature of the metal ions present in the complexes studied upon the calculated thermodynamic parameters was reported. A suitable mechanism for the thermal decomposition process was suggested.

  • 열화학적인 수소 생산 공정 중 하나인 S-I Cycle은 요오드와 황을 이용한 수소 생산 공정으로써 물 분자로부터 수소 분자를 얻어내는 순환 공정이다. 수소 생산 공정에 열을 공급하고자 하는 초고온 원자로(VHTR; Very High Temperature Reactor)는 원자로에서 수소 생산 공정으로 방사능 없이 안전하게 열을 전달하기 위하여 중간열교환기(IHX; Intermediate Heat Exchanger)가 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 수소 생산공정과 초고온 원자로간의 중간 열교환 공정을 모사하여 운전압력 및 작동 유체의 변화에 따른 중간 열교환기의 효율을 계산하고 가장 경제적인 중간 열교환기를 설계하기 위한 공정 조건을 도출하였다.

  • The development of renewable energy is currently strongly required to address environmental problems such as global warming. In particular, biomass is highlighted due to its advantages. When using biomass as an energy source, the conversion process is essential. Fast pyrolysis, which is a thermochemical conversion method, is a known method of producing bio-oil. Therefore, various studies were conducted with fast pyrolysis. Most studies were conducted under a lab-scale process. Hence, scaling up is required for commercialization. However, it is difficult to find studies that address the process analysis, even though this is essential for developing a scaled-up plant. Hence, the present study carries out the process analysis of biomass pyrolysis. The fast pyrolysis system includes a biomass feeder, fast pyrolyzer, cyclone, condenser, and electrostatic precipitator (ESP). A two-stage, semi-global reaction mechanism was applied to simulate the fast pyrolysis reaction and a circulating fluidized bed reactor was selected as the fast pyrolyzer. All the equipment in the process was modeled based on heat and mass balance equations. In this study, process analysis was conducted with various reaction temperatures and residence times. The two-stage, semi-global reaction mechanism for circulating fluidized-bed reactor can be applied to simulate a scaled-up plant.

  • A directly heated $SO_3$ decomposer for the sulfur-iodine and hybrid-sulfur processes has been introduced and analyzed by using a computational fluid dynamics code(CFD) with the CFX 5.7.1. The use of a directly heated decomposition reactor in conjunction with a VHTR allows higher decomposition reactor operating temperature. However, the thermochemical and hybrid hydrogen production processes accompanied with the high temperature and strongly corrosive operating conditions basically have material problems. In order to resolve these problems, we carried out the development of a structural material and equipment design technologies. The results show that the maximum temperature of the structural material (RA330) could be maintained at 800$^{\circ}C$ or less. Also, it can be seen that the mean temperature of the reaction region packed with catalysts in the $SO_3$ decomposition reactor could satisfy the temperature condition of around 850 $^{\circ}C$ which is the target temperature in this study.

산화물환원과 압축성형 공정에 의한 Bi2Te2.5Se0.5 화합물의 제조와 열전특성 (Fabrication of Bi2Te2.5Se0.5 by Combining Oxide-reduction and Compressive-forming Process and Its Thermoelectric Properties)

  • We report the effect of plastic deformation on the thermoelectric properties of n-type Bi2Te2.5Se0.5 compounds. N-type Bi2Te2.5Se0.5 powders are synthesized by an oxide-reduction process and consolidated via spark-plasma sintering. To explore the effect of plastic deformation on the thermoelectric properties, the sintered bodies are subjected to uniaxial pressure to induce a controlled amount of compressive strains (-0.2, -0.3, and -0.4). The shaping temperature is set using a thermochemical analyzer, and the plastic deformation effect is assessed without altering the material composition through differential scanning calorimetry. This strategy is crucial because the conventional hot-forging process can often lead to alterations in material composition due to the high volatility of chalcogen elements. With increasing compressive strain, the (00l) planes become aligned in the direction perpendicular to the pressure axis. Furthermore, an increase in the carrier concentration is observed upon compressive plastic deformation, i.e., the donor-like effect of the plastic deformation in n-type Bi2Te2.5Se0.5 compounds. Owing to the increased electrical conductivity through the preferred orientation and the donor-like effect, an improved ZT is achieved in n-type Bi2Te2.5Se0.5 through the compressive-forming process.
