연소가스내 탈황탈질처리를 위한 저온 플라즈마 기술 (Non-Thermal Plasma Technique for Removing $SO_2$ and $NO_x$ from Combustion Flue Gas)

  • Industrial-scale pulse corona process to remove $SO_2$ and $NO_x$ simultaneously from combustion flue gas has been studied. The pilot plant built in the present study treats 2,000 $Nm^3$/hr of flue gas from a boiler. The geometry of the pulse corona reactor is similar to that of an electrostatic precipitator commonly used in industry, A thyratron switch and magnetic pulse compressors, which can generate up to 130 kV of peak pulse voltage and up to 30 kW of average pulse power, have been used to produce pulsed corona. The removal efficiencies of $S0_2$ and $NO_x$ with the present process are maximum of 95 % and 85 %, respectively. Electrical power consumption to produce the pulsed corona, which has been one of the major difficulties to apply this process to industry, has been evaluated in the present study. The results showed that the power consumption can be reduced significantly by simultaneous addition of hydrocarbon injection and heterogeneous phase reactions to the process.

선풍기의 운전 상황별 발열특성 및 전류신호 검출 (Detection of Current Signal and Thermal Characteristics of Electric Fan Operated in Various Situations)

  • Cooling equipment is the frequent occurrence of fire despite the absence of the heating element. National fire statistics in 2013 show that a total of 263 fires occurred in the cooling equipment and the number of electric fan has 145 fire cases. This is accounted for 55.1% of the whole. Electric fan is the electrical appliance that the heat is generated on the winding wire and the iron core. If such characteristic is not controled properly, fire would break out at the electric fan. also there is a gap filled with an insulator between connection terminals of the capacitor in the electric fan. But in case that the gap on the capacitor is covered with some conductive material such as dust, there would be a fire as well caused by electrical heating locally. Although many studies related with those have been conducted, electric fan fire is continuously occurred. In this study, thermal characteristics and current signal in various conditions such as the heat generation of windings including iron cores of the motor and the dielectric breakdown of terminals on the capacitor connected to the motor were detected. In order to measure the maximum temperature, "third level" wind velocity button was pushed and the time selection switch to "continuation" was set. Analyzed data would be available for the fire safety of the electric fan.

GaN MOSFET을 이용한 고밀도, 고효율 48V 버스용 3-출력 Buck Converter 설계 (A High Efficiency, High Power-Density GaN-based Triple-Output 48V Buck Converter Design)

  • In this study, a 70 W buck converter using GaN metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET) is developed. This converter exhibits over 97 % efficiency, high power density, and 48 V-to-12 V/1.2 V/1 V (triple output). Three gate drivers and six GaN MOSFETs are placed in a 1 ㎠ area to enhance power density and heat dissipation capacity. The theoretical switching and conduction losses of the GaN MOSFETs are calculated. Inductances, capacitances, and resistances for the output filters of the three buck converters are determined to achieve the desired current, voltage ripples, and efficiency. An equivalent circuit model for the thermal analysis of the proposed triple-output buck converter is presented. The junction temperatures of the GaN MOSFETs are estimated using the thermal model. Circuit operation and temperature analysis are evaluated using a circuit simulation tool and the finite element analysis results. An experimental test bed is built to evaluate the proposed design. The estimated switch and heat sink temperatures coincide well with the measured results. The designed buck converter has 130 W/in3 power density and 97.6 % efficiency.

  • In this paper, we study on the mutual characteristics between transmitting efficiency of pulse energy and wall plug consumed power of non-thermal Plasma for removing environmental pollutive gas of coal plant. To obtain high pulse energy of our system, we used MPC(magnetic pulse compressor) of power switch and tested their characteristics by adjusting electrode length of reactor and charging voltage in capacitor. As a result, we obtained consumed power of wall plug and a compressed pulse of voltage 110kV, rising time 500ns. Impedance of load on increasing electrode length was decreased, but electrical efficiency was increased. These results indicate we can control critical voltage of pulse corona and electrical efficiency of economic cost in power plant.

전극 구조의 최적화를 통한 저전력 열광학 스위치 설계 (Design of Thermo-optic Switch with Low Power Consumption by Electrode Optimization)

  • 본 논문에서는 높은 소멸비뿐만 아니라 낮은 파워 소모를 가지는 방향성 결합기 구조의 열광학 스위치를 설계하였다. 설계된 스위치는 전극의 열발생 유무에 따라 폴리머의 굴절률이 변하는 열광학 효과를 이용하여 동작한다. 전극에 파워가 인가되지 않으면(OFF), 입사된 빛은 반대쪽 도파로로 대부분 전이된다. 전극에 일정수준 이상으로 파워가 인가되면(ON), 입력 도파로로 입사된 빛은 반대쪽 도파로의 굴절률이 낮아져 입력 도파로로 진행한다. 방향성 결합기 스위치는 소멸비 일반화 곡선과 입력 도파로의 수평이동 방법을 이용하여 설계되었다. 결합길이는 1,610 ${\mu}m$, on과 off 상태의 소멸비는 각각 -28, -30 dB로 설계되었다. 또한, 본 논문에서 전극 구조는 열분석을 통해 최적화되었다. 전극의 폭(w)이 증가하고 전극과 도파로의 중심간격(d)이 감소할수록 도파로로 전달되는 열은 증가하였다. 전극에서 발생된 열은 반대쪽 도파로에도 영향을 주기 때문에 두 도파로간의 온도차이는 주어진 w와 d에 따라 변한다. 이때, 최대의 온도차이를 보이는 특정한 조건이 존재하였다. 최대 온도차이는 전극의 폭이 넓을수록, 전극의 온도가 높을수록 증가한다. 특히, 스위칭에 필요한 온도차이를 최대 온도차이 조건으로 설계하면 전극의 온도를 낮출 수 있다. 최대 온도차이 조건은 열광학 스위치의 파워소모를 감소시키는 방안이 될 것으로 기대된다.

Performance Analysis of Chained Amplifier Systems for Metropolitan Optical Network Applications

  • In this paper, theoretical analysis for metropolitan optical networks is performed. First, analytical optical SNR is derived assuming each node consists of an EDFA, an optical filter, an optical switch, and a VOA, and then the relationship between OSNR and BER is studied. In a metropolitan optical network, an optical signal can be dropped to deliver data, and we also studied the effect of drop loss on system performance. When the drop loss is relatively small, the receiver structure of the node can be treated as a preamplifier receiver which is widely used in long-haul systems. In that case, ASE noise from EDFAs is the dominant noise source in the receiver. However, system performance is relatively insensitive to OSNR when the drop loss is significant because of the noise sources in the receiver (thermal and shot noise).

  • In this paper we have studied the characteristics of temperature fields in a Molded Case Circuit Breaker (MCCB). A switch and a trip device are arranged in narrow space of the MCCB. Thus, thermal factors have been risen to important problem. The temperature rise means an energy loss and it becomes the reason of fatal fault in devices. Also, the temperature rise on the connection and the contact parts is regulated up to $115^{\circ}C$ and $105^{\circ}C$, respectively. Therefore, a study for preventing the temperature rise should be investigated. A numerical analysis method that has confidence might be preceded for this purpose. In order to verify the confidence of temperature field analysis, the results of the numerical analysis are compared with those of experimental one for the same model. Comparison results show a qualitatively good agreement within ${\pm}5%$ errors.

  • 본 논문에서는 인덕션 쿠커의 스위칭 전력반도체에서 발생되는 스위치 손실을 비교 분석한다. Si-기반 전력반도체의 효율 상승이 한계점에 도달함에 따라 고속 스위칭 및 저손실 특성을 지닌 SiC, GaN와 같은 와이드밴드갭 소자를 활용한 고전력밀도 컨버터의 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 이에 소비자 가전분야의 인덕션쿠커 공진형 하프-브릿지 전력회로의 기존 Si-IGBT를 GaN-FET과 SiC-FET으로 구성하여 스위치 손실모델을 유도하고 이를 통해 세 가지의 전력반도체가 적용된 인덕션 쿠커의 스위치 손실을 비교분석한다. 분석된 손실모델은 PSIM Thermal Module을 통하여 검증한다.

  • ZVS Full-bridge converter is widely used in medium power level(1-3kW). ZVS can be designed within a limited load range and ZVS failure at light load condition is assumed to be acceptable within the given efficiency and thermal constraints. However, unbalanced ZVS resonant energy caused by dc blocking capacitor may alleviate the switching loss problem at light load condition. ZVS resonant energy is unbalanced by do blocking capacitor. This problem causes loss and heat concentration of a switch leg, In this paper, this problem is analyzed, and a novel control method is proposed to solve the problem.

  • AC plasma power supply is used to control a ozone generator and a air pollution gas. AC plasma power supply is composed of power semiconductor switch devices and control board adapted SHE(Selected Harmonic Elimination) PWM method. AC plasma power supply with sinusoidal VVVF(variable voltage and variable frequency) is realized. Its output voltage range is from 0 [V] to 20[kV] and output frequency range is from 8[kHz] to 20[kHz]. Using proposed system, AC high voltage and high frequency discharge is tested in the DBD(dieletric barrier discharge) reactor, and the space distribution of a its non-thermal plasma is observed. In spite of the increasement of voltage and frequency, the proposed system have a stable operation characteristics. It is verified by the experimental results.
