Sensitivity and optimisation procedures for truss structures under large displacement

  • The work presented here focuses on the development of suitable discretised formulations, for large-displacement shape and non-shape design sensitivity analysis (DSA), which enable the straightforward incorporation of structural optimisation into established finite element analysis (FEA) codes. For the generalised displacement-based functional the design sensitivity vector has been expressed in terms of displacement sensitivity. The Total Lagrangian formulation is utilised for modelling of large deformation of truss structures. The variational formulation of the sensitivity analysis procedure is discretised by using "pseudo" - finite elements, Results are presented for the sensitivity analysis and optimisation of standard truss structures. For the purposes of this work, the analysis and optimisation procedures outlined below are incorporated into the FEA code ABAQUS.

A Second-Order Design Sensitivity-Assisted Monte Carlo Simulation Method for Reliability Evaluation of the Electromagnetic Devices

  • In the reliability-based design optimization of electromagnetic devices, the accurate and efficient reliability assessment method is very essential. The first-order sensitivity-assisted Monte Carlo Simulation is proposed in the former research. In order to improve its accuracy for wide application, in this paper, the second-order sensitivity analysis is presented by using the hybrid direct differentiation-adjoint variable method incorporated with the finite element method. By combining the second-order sensitivity with the Monte Carlo Simulation method, the second-order sensitivity-assisted Monte Carlo Simulation algorithm is proposed to implement reliability calculation. Through application to one superconductor magnetic energy storage system, its accuracy is validated by comparing calculation results with other methods.

Fiber Ring Laser Intra-cavity Absorption Spectroscopy for Gas Sensing: Analysis and Experiment

  • Fiber ring laser based intra-cavity absorption spectroscopic sensor has great potential for high sensitivity gas detection. Using the rate equations and propagation equations, we investigated theoretically factors that affect the sensitivity of such fiber ring laser sensors and determined the optimal design parameters and conditions for significant enhancement of the system sensitivity. Experiments have been conducted to determine the sensitivity enhancement performance. The results showed a factor of 25 ~ 30 in sensitivity enhancement in the experimental system, agreeing well with the theoretical expectations. Experiments on acetylene detection have also been carried out and the results showed that the ring cavity significantly increases the signal absorption and that high sensitivity can be obtained for gas detection.

혁신성과 가격민감도가 스마트의류의 구매의도에 미치는 영향 (The Influence of Innovativeness and Price Sensitivity on Purchase Intention of Smart Wear)

  • This study examines the influence of innovativeness and price sensitivity on the purchase intention of smart wear. A total of 211 copies of data were analyzed to investigate a structural model and test research hypotheses using AMOS 7.0 package. The results were summarized as follows. First, fashion innovativeness and technology innovativeness negatively affected price sensitivity; however, information innovativeness positively affected price sensitivity. Second, technology innovativeness positively affected the purchase intention of smart wear; however, fashion innovativeness and information innovativeness did not affect the purchase intention of smart wear. Third, price sensitivity negatively influenced the purchase intention of smart wear. This study is useful for marketers and managers who establish marketing and a price strategy for smart wear in an exploration of the relation of consumer innovativeness, price sensitivity, and the purchase intention of smart wear.

High-sensitivity NIR Sensing with Stacked Photodiode Architecture

  • Near-infrared (NIR) sensing technology using CMOS image sensors is used in many applications, including automobiles, biological inspection, surveillance, and mobile devices. An intuitive way to improve NIR sensitivity is to thicken the light absorption layer (silicon). However, thickened silicon lacks NIR sensitivity and has other disadvantages, such as diminished optical performance (e.g. crosstalk) and difficulty in processing. In this paper, a pixel structure for NIR sensing using a stacked CMOS image sensor is introduced. There are two photodetection layers, a conventional layer and a bottom photodiode, in the stacked CMOS image sensor. The bottom photodiode is used as the NIR absorption layer. Therefore, the suggested pixel structure does not change the thickness of the conventional photodiode. To verify the suggested pixel structure, sensitivity was simulated using an optical simulator. As a result, the sensitivity was improved by a maximum of 130% and 160% at wavelengths of 850 nm and 940 nm, respectively, with a pixel size of 1.2 ㎛. Therefore, the proposed pixel structure is useful for NIR sensing without thickening the silicon.

불안민감도가 과제 수행과 스트레스 반응에 미치는 영향: 우울감의 조절효과 (The Influence of Anxiety Sensitivity on Task Performance and Stress Response: The Moderating Effect of Depression)

  • 본 연구는 불안민감도가 과제수행과 스트레스 반응에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고, 이 과정에 우울감은 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 확인하였다. 참가자들은 제한된 시간에 암산 문제를 완수하였고, 불안민감도지수와 우울증 선별도구에 응답하였다. 더불어, 실험 전후 참가자들의 코르티졸(Cortisol) 변화량을 확인하였다. 그 결과, 불안민감도가 높은 사람은 과제수행의 정확도가 떨어지고 코르티졸 수치가 유의미하게 상승하였다. 또한, 불안민감도와 우울감이 모두 높은 참가자들이 코르티졸 수치가 가장 크게 상승하였다. 본 연구는 자기보고식 응답에 근거하여 임상증상을 기술하는 것을 넘어 과제수행의 정확도와 생화학적 지표를 함께 제시함으로써, 보다 안정적으로 개인의 불안민감도와 우울감의 관계를 논의하였다는 의의를 지닌다.

Testing the Mediating Role of Perceived Risk of COVID-19 and the Moderating Role of Age in the Relationship between COVID-19 related Information Sensitivity and Personal Preventive Behaviors

  • The influence of information sensitivity during the COVID-19 pandemic on perceived risk and personal preventive behaviors of consumers in China had been investigated. The participants were Chinese individuals experiencing the pandemic as it happened. Participants voluntarily completed an online questionnaire to provide their COVID-19 information sensitivity, their perceived COVID-19 risk, preventive behavior and their respective age. Our study discovered that COVID-19 information sensitivity positively influence perceived risk and preventive behavior. Moreover, young individuals show higher levels of online information sensitivity, which influenced their personal protective behavior when compared to that of middle-aged and elderly participants. Furthermore, Perceived risk significantly affected preventive behaviors. The results of this study may assist the government and marketeers in comprehending information sensitivity which can affect consumers' protective behavior toward reducing COVID-19 infections.

Mixed Methods Research on the Intercultural Sensitivity of Summer Program Participants; Comparison of US Participants and Korean Language Partners

  • This study was conducted as part of a summer Korean language and culture program at a university in Korea, aimed at examining the changes in intercultural sensitivity among American students who participated in the program, as well as the Korean students who served as their language partners. The research utilized a mixed-method approach combining qualitative and quantitative analysis. To derive research findings, pre- and post-program Intercultural Sensitivity Scale surveys were administered to participating students and semi-structured interview data were collected from a randomly selected group of six students. The research findings indicated that among a total of twenty-seven students including both American and Korean students, significant changes in intercultural sensitivity were observed in the domain of Interaction Engagement. Furthermore, fourteen American students showed significant changes in their Interaction Confidence, while the Korean students who participated as language partners did not exhibit significant changes in the five subdomains of intercultural sensitivity.

수치미분에 의한 차량 현가장치의 기구학적 민감도 해석 (Kinematic Design Sensitivity Analysis of Vehicle Suspension Systems using a Numerical Differentiation Method)

  • A numerical approach for performing kinematic design sensitivity analysis of vehicle suspension systems is presented. Compared with the conventional analytical methods, which require explicit derivation of sensitivity equations, the proposed numerical method can be applied to any type of suspension systems without obtaining sensitivity equations, once any kinematic analysis procedure is established. To obtain sensitivity equations, a numerical differentiation algorithm that uses the third order Lagrange polynomial is developed. The algorithm efficiently and accurately computes the sensitivity of various vehicle static design factors with respect to kinematic design variables. Through a suspension design problem, the validity and usefulness of the method is demonstrated.

전위된 공격성이 사이버불링경향성에 미치는 영향과 가해자 정의민감성의 조절효과 (Effect of the Displaced Aggression on Cyberbullying Tendencies and the Moderating Role of Penetrator Sensitivity)

  • 본 연구는 심각한 사회문제인 사이버불링에 영향을 미치는 심리적 요인을 알아보고 대안을 제시하기 위해 전위된 공격성과 피해자, 가해자 정의민감성이 사이버불링경향성을 예측하는지 살펴보고, 피해자, 가해자 정의민감성이 전위된 공격성과 사이버불링경향성 간의 관계를 조절하는지 확인하였다. 본 연구는 20대 성인 261명을 대상으로 1개월간 온라인 설문조사를 진행하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 단순회귀분석 실시 결과, 전위된 공격성(F=62.55, p<.001)과 피해자 정의민감성(F=29.61, p<.001)이 사이버불링 경향성을 예측하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 성별의 영향을 통제하여 위계적 회귀분석을 실시한 결과, 가해자 민감성이 전위된 공격성과 사이버불링경향성의 관계를 조절하는 것으로 나타났으며(F=29.61, p<.001) 피해자 민감성의 효과는 유의하지 않았다. 끝으로 본 연구는 향후 연구가 본 연구의 제한점을 고려하여 같은 결과가 다른 연령대 집단에서도 동일하게 나타나는지 확인할 필요가 있으며, 공감적 이해와 같은 접근이 사이버불링경향성을 낮출 수 있을 것임을 제언하였다.
