This study was conducted to identify the social perception of schizophrenic patients through films expressed in schizophrenic patients. We analyzed 48 films and scenarios that have been screened for the last 40 years by content analysis method to perceive interpersonal and emotional perception, perception of families and treatment measures. Patients were violent, dangerous, and burdensome to the family. However, specific experience or internal description has increased, and attitude of family or patients related to treatment has been more actively described since 1996. In conclusion, the perception of patients seen negative, want to avoid, giving burdens and pain to others. Therefore, to improve the social perception of mental disorders, it is necessary to make active use of films that have a high impact on public perception, and try to study the influence of visual media on perception change.

Seckel syndrome is an autosomal recessive disorder characterized by intrauterine growth retardation and post-natally by dwarfism, severe microcephaly, bird-headed profile with receding chin, prominent nose, joint defects, clubfoot, sparse hair, malformation of genitourinary tract and rectum, mental retardation and hematological disorders. There is also a reduction in the number of blood cells. Dental anomalies of Seckel syndrome are crowded teeth with malocclusion, enamel hypoplasia, absence of some teeth and taurodontism. This report described the oral and maxillofacial manifestations of children associated with Seckel syndrome. Children with Seckel syndrome have several dental and skeletal irregularities. The purpose of this study was to report the dental and medical characteristics of the patient and review the literatures of Seckel syndrome.
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Although a lot of effort has been put into increasing fruit and vegetable intakes in preschool children, vegetable intake in this group is still low. This study investigated whether nutrition education focusing on fruit and vegetable intakes can affect preschoolers' fruit and vegetable intakes as well as their behavioral outcomes. SUBJECTS/METHODS: Thirty-five preschoolers (54.3% boys, n = 19) aged 4-6 years residing in Seoul underwent weekly nutrition education intervention (8 sessions) between May and July 2016. Intakes of fruits and vegetables were measured during pre and post-intervention. At snack time, fresh fruit (150 g) and vegetable (120 g) snacks were distributed to each child by teachers. The remaining portions of the snacks were weighed and recorded for each child. Behavioral outcomes were measured by applying Child behavior checklist 1.5-5 and the Diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders. RESULTS: During post intervention, vegetable intake increased from $36.15{\pm}30.64g$ to $48.01{\pm}31.23g$ (P = 0.010). Among the emotional and behavioral problems measured by parents, levels of total problems (P = 0.001), internalizing (P = 0.004), externalizing (P = 0.003), anxiety and depression (P = 0.001), and aggressive behavior (P = 0.005) decreased. Anxiety (P = 0.026) score, as measured by teachers, also decreased. CONCLUSIONS: Nutrition education of preschoolers regarding the intakes of fruits and vegetables had a positive effect on preschoolers' vegetable intake as well as on their emotional and behavioral outcomes. A long-term, large-scale study with a broader study design is warranted to further investigate the role of fruit and vegetable intake in cognitive development and behavior of preschoolers.

Objectives : This study was conducted in order to describe prescribing practices in treatment of pediatric bipolar disorder in a Korean inpatient sample. Methods : We performed a retrospective chart review of 66 youths who had been hospitalized and diagnosed with bipolar disorder according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, fourth edition criteria. Demographics, clinical characteristics, medications used, doses, and related adverse events were examined. Results : Mood stabilizers and/or atypical antipsychotic medications were the primary treatment. Risperidone, valproate, and lithium were the most commonly used. Thirty seven patients (58.1%) were treated with combination therapy of an atypical antipsychotic and mood stabilizer for improvement of manic/mixed symptoms. Conclusion : Combination pharmacotherapy was necessary for most patients in this admission sample group. Conduct of further studies will be needed for evaluation of treatment response according to the clinical characteristics, and the safety and efficacy of treatment for child and adolescent bipolar disorder.
Air pollution is a severe risk factor in public health. It is not only a cause of a variety of physical disorders but also attributable to mental health problems. This study aimed to investigate the differences on emotions, physical symptoms, future perspectives by perceived air pollution. Sixty-one university students were randomly allocated either to air pollution group (n = 30) or clean air group (n = 31). Participants watched a news video clip of a polluted city or a clean city according to their condition and were asked to imagine as if they were living in the city. Results showed that air pollution group reported increased depression, anxiety, anger and physical symptoms after the exposure. Meanwhile, clean air group showed no significant changes or decrease of them. In addition, air pollution group reported restrained future time perspectives and decreased plan of outdoor activities, while clean air group did not report significant changes after the exposure.
This study was to identify HCl design factors for increasing information processing and attention for mentally retarded children. Several factors such as size, location, moving distance were varied for three experiments operated by the amount of information. The results showed that the larger size of target, the greater moving distance of target, and the less amount of information increased mentally retarded children's sensitivity. Also, when the target was displayed at upper left of computer screen, sensitivity of mentally retarded children was high, compared other locations of screen.

Pervasive developmental disorder is one of the most severe clinical disorder in child psychiatry and is associated with deviancies in multiple areas of development. Medication does not cure pervasive developmental disorder and its effectiveness is generally nonspecific. But psychopharmacological treatment can be important for some children with pervasive developmental disorder and can make many young autistics more amenable to behavior modification and education. Haloperidol, the most widely studied antipsychotics, was statistically and clinically superior to placebo, and furthermore, was known to facilitate the positive functioning such as, discrimination learning and imitative communication, without side effects. However, administration of haloperidol is associated with drug related dyskinesia, and it warrants the introduction and use of the other novel drugs. Several biochemical studies suggest that subgroups of children with pervasive developmental disorder show hyperserotonemia and increased endogenous opioid level as compared with controls. Psychopharmacological trials were conducted according to these findings(ex : fenfluramine, naltrexone), with mixed results till now. These and another drugs that have been used in children with pervasive developmental disorder and their effectiveness are reviewed.
Objectives: The aim of this study is to review the significance of managing "Mibyeong" in geriatric health in Korean medicine and psychology. Methods: We performed a literature search using OASIS, Koreantk, RISS, DBpia, and PubMed databases. We retrieved research articles using the keywords related to mibyeong (未病), sub-health (亞健康), Korean-medicine, psychology and geriatric health. Results: Both Korean medicine and psychology emphasize biological, psychological, and social balance and well-being. In addition, both value individual personality and constitution. Mibyeong is a Korean medical concept suggesting sub-health. Elderly individuals who are in a state of Mibyeong are frail and vulnerable to disorders and illness. Since depression, chronic diseases, low physical and mental activity have fatal outcomes in frail and elderly subjects, positive psychological support and active management of Mibyeong are very important. Conclusions: Geriatric health conditions are associated with chronic disease and multiple risk factors, including physiological, psychological, social, and economic conditions. A preventive and integrative approach is essential for geriatric health as prevention is better than cure for most geriatric diseases and illnesses.
This study investigated a systematic literature review on local and international literatures focusing on Participatory Action Research(PAR), Community Based Participatory Research(CBPR) in workplace and community. Eighty percent of the 10 studies reviewed included research involving health professionals, community networks, workers, and university researchers. Health promotion programs varied from health and safety awareness, smoking cessation, diabetes management, physical activity, self-efficacy enhancement, cardiovascular disease, musculoskeletal disorders and mental health. PAR, CBPR are required to participate actively in research through community collaboration to promote health. We can solve problems at the community level. And identified sustainable effects when developing and implementing a health promotion program. PAR and CBPR are expected to continuously pursue change by adjusting the scope of individuals, organizations, communities, and institutional dimensions. They are also expected to be implemented for workers in the various workplace.
