A Plateau and Spurt Pattern of Neurological Maturation, Scientific Reasoning Development and Conceptual Change in Korean Secondary School Students (중등학교 학생들의 신경기능 성숙, 과학적 사고 발달 그리고 개념 변화에서 밝혀진 비선형적 발달의 정체와 급등 현상)

  • The present study tested the hypothesis that adolescent's prefrontal lobe growth plateau and spurt exists and that this plateau and spurt influence students' ability to reason scientifically and to learn theoretical science concepts. In theory, maturation of the prefrontal lobes during early adolescence allows for improvements in students' abilities to inhibit task-irrelevant information and coordinate task-relevant information, which along with both physical and social experience, influences scientific reasoning ability and the ability to reject scientific misconceptions and accept scientific conceptions. Two hundred six students ages 13 to 16 years enrolled in four Korean secondary schools were administered tests of prefrontal lobe functions, scientific reasoning, and theoretical concepts derived from kinetic-molecular theory. A series of 14 lessons designed to teach the concepts were then taught. The concepts test was then re-administered following instruction. As predicted among the 14-year-olds, performance on the measures of prefrontal lobe functions, scientific reasoning, and conceptual change remained similar or regressed. Performance then improved considerably among the 15 and 16-year-olds. Because so few of the present students were able to undergo this apparently necessary conceptual change, the value of introducing theoretical concepts to early adolescent is questioned.

On the asymptotic correlationship for some process capability indices Ĉp, Ĉpk and Ĉpm under bivariate normal distribution (이변량 정규분포 하에서 공정능력지수에 대한 점근적 상관관계에 관한 연구)

  • The process capability index is used to determine whether a production process is capable of producing items within a specified tolerance. Some process capability indices $C_p$, $C_{pk}$ and $C_{pm}$ have been of particular interest as useful management tools for tracking process performance. Most evaluations on process capability indices focus on statistical estimation and test of hypothesis. It is necessary to investigate their asymptotic correlationship among basic estimators ${\hat{C}}_p$, ${\hat{C}}_{pk}$ and ${\hat{C}}_{pm}$ of process capability indices $C_p$, $C_{pk}$ and $C_{pm}$. In this paper, we study their asymptotic correlationship for three process capability indices ${\hat{C}}_p$, ${\hat{C}}_{pk}$ and ${\hat{C}}_{pm}$ under bivariate normal distribution BN(${\mu}_x,{\mu}_y,{\sigma}^2_x,{\sigma}^2_y,{\rho}$). With some nonnormal processes, the asymptotic correlation coefficient of any two respective process capability index estimators could be established.

Curve Number for a Small Forested Mountainous Catchment (산지 소유역 유출곡선지수)

  • In this paper, runoff curve numbers (CN's) for a small forested mountainous catchment are estimated using rainfall-runoff data measured at Sulma experimental catchment every 10 minutes and a new guideline for applying the antecedent rainfall conditions (ARC's) for small mountainous watersheds in Korea is proposed. Sulma experimental catchment is a typical natural mountainous basin with $97\%$ of forested land cover and CN's are estimated to be in the range between 51 and 89 with median value of 72. The test hypothesis stating as 1-day ARC is better than 5-day ARC in determining CN's for a small mountainous watershed is shown to be acceptable. Also, linear regression equations for the estimation of CN's for small mountainous catchments are proposed. As there is no significant investigations available on CN's for small mountainous catchments, the newly proposed relationships between CN's and ARC may be used as a preliminary guideline to assign CN's for the estimation of floods from rainfall data on mountainous regions.

Inequalities in Self-rated Health among Middle-aged and Young-old Waged Workers: The Contribution of Precarious Employment and Social Capital (중고령기에서 초기노년기에 걸친 주관적 건강상태의 격차: 고용형태와 사회적 자본의 효과를 중심으로)

  • This study purported to examine the effects of precarious employment and social capital on the changes of self-rated health status among the middle aged and the young-old population in South Korea. The study analyzed 12 year follow-up data generated by the Korean Labor and Income Panel Study(KLIPS 6-17), which included 10532 employed subjects aged 55 to 75. Multi-level growth curve modeling was performed by fixed and random effect models using STATA 13.0 program. Afterwards, Hausman test was performed, which resulted in support of the estimation by fixed effect model. The results showed that a day labor position was significant factor affecting the deteriorated changes of self-rated health status over time. In addition, wage, weekly working hours, and private/relational social capitals were also found to be significant factors affecting the changes of the self-rated health status. The results supported the divergence hypothesis as well as the cumulative advantage theory. Efforts should be made to develop and implement various employment support policies and social service programs to alleviate the health inequality of the employed workers over their middle-aged to young-old period.

The Effects of Fairness and Quality on the Trust and Loyalty in the R&D Processes (연구개발 과정에서 공정성과 품질이 신뢰와 충성도에 미치는 영향)

  • Recently R&D projects take a collaborative works which involve industries, research institutions, and academic fields together. Collaborative R&D enjoys the economy of scales and economic efficiencies in that costs and risks share each others and compensate their competences. But there are some problems. The imbalance of power, the asymmetry of information, loss of trust, and opportunism among the co-researchers make the collaborative R&D difficult to succeed and disappointed outcomes. There are many variables on explaining the interorganizational relationships. Among them, I choose some relevant variables, construct research model and some hypotheses. Independent variables are fairness and quality, and dependent variables is loyalty. And trust are treated as the intervening variable between the independent variables and dependent variable. To test the research model and some hypothesis empirically, I collected the data using the questionnaire, The questionnaire was distributed to the persons that do collaborative R&D in Daeduck Innopolis. Sample size was 448, it was enough to analyze statistically. Data were analysed using the SPSS and AMOS. Procedural fairness and distributive fairness affect the organizational trust positively, and procedural fairness and distributive fairness affect member trust positively. Procedural quality and outcome quality affect the organizational quality positively. Procedural quality affects the member trust positively, but outcome quality does not affect member trust. Procedural fairness and distributive fairness does not affect the loyalty positively. Procedural quality does not affects loyalty, but outcome quality affects the loyalty positively. The organizational trust affects loyalty positively, and member quality affect loyalty positively.

  • This study reviews previous studies about the effects of RFID capabilities on strategic supply chain competence and business performance in the Chinese context. This study introduces a new perspective that measures the degree to which RFID capability levels contribute to business performance. Such an assumption is based on the fact that companies build their own capabilities through RFID capabilities and that these capabilities provide a competitive advantage for enterprises. Data on all sorts of logistics, distribution, and manufacturing companies that introduced RFID system in China were collected for data analysis. This study analyzes the structural equation modeling using Smart-PLS 2.0 program. This study confirms that internal reliability, convergent validity, and discriminant validity are satisfied. The hypothesis test result on the relationship between RFID capacity and strategic supply chain competence and strategic supply chain competence and company results is partially adopted. This study aids in establishing a RFID system construction strategy to enhance supply chain competence by suggesting guidelines for the successful introduction of RFID system through identifying the causal relationship between RFID capacity and strategic supply chain competence. This study also suggests the influence of RFID competency on visibility, agility, flexibility, and collaborations.

Factors Affecting the Customer Satisfaction of Rural Experience -Applying Unified PPM Model - (농어촌 체험 고객 만족에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the factors affecting rural experience by applying the unified push-pull-mooring model. The theoretical model is an unified PPM model that introduces new variables based on PPM. The pull factor of the newly introduced variables were reconstructed based on the Schmitt's Experience model and ServQual model. The hypothesis is set as follows. The push factor will have a negative effect on experience satisfaction and the pull factor(experience attributes, service quality)will have a positive effect on experience satisfaction. Also, mooring factors will have a negative effect on experience satisfaction. The research model of this study was tested by structural equation model based on 314 effective questionnaire data. Service quality had a positive effect on experience satisfaction. Mooring factors have a negative effect on experience satisfaction. Push factor and experience attributes factor were analyzed to have a no significance effect on experience satisfaction. These results theoretically test that the mooring factors also have an important effect on the experience satisfaction in the rural experience. Based on the Schmitt's Experience model and ServQual model introduced as a pull factor, the proposed unified PPM model proved to be a useful analysis framework. In practice, it was able to provide implications on what factors should be strategically and marketingly focused to activate the 6th industry experience.

Causal Role of Affective Commitment and Calculative Commitment in Explaining Relationships Between Service Characteristics and Trust and Services Loyalty in Dental Service Setting (치과 서비스특성과 신뢰 및 고객충성도 관계에서 감정적 몰입과 계산적 몰입의 인과적 역할)

  • The purpose of this study is to identifies services characteristics such as service customization, service ability, service empathy impacts on trust, affective commitment and calculative commitment, and explains causal role of affective commitment and calculative commitment by verifies relationships between trust and affective commitment and calculative commitment and customer loyalty in dental service setting. Analysis of structural equation modeling with SPSS 20.0 and AMOS 16.0 were performed to test the research hypothesis. The result of the study as follows: First, it was found that service customization had effect on affective commitment, and service ability had influence on trust, and service empathy impacts on both trust and affective commitment, but calculative commitment was not found to significant path coefficients in relationships with service characteristics. Second, trust had effects on calculative commitment, but not affective commitment. Third, affective commitment and calculative commitment positively had influence on customer loyalty. Therefore, Dental service providers should be increase user confidence by showing empathy and the ability to service. Customer who had formed trust is to build customer loyalty by inducing loyalty directly or by presents a variety of benefits indirectly. The high emotional attachment customer will have to present a suitable marketing strategies to build strong customer loyalty.

A Study on the Effects of Family Restaurants' Service Guarantees on Customer Loyalty -Focusing on the Moderating Role of Involvement- (패밀리레스토랑의 서비스보증이 고객충성도에 미치는 영향 - 관여도의 조절효과를 중심으로 -)

  • This study examines the relationship among family restaurants' service guarantee, service quality, service value, customer satisfaction and customer loyalty, involvement to verify the marketing effectiveness of service guarantee in family restaurants. For the empirical analysis, a survey was conducted with 250 adults in Seoul and Gyeonggi. For the collected data, frequency analysis, reliability analysis, factor analysis were carried out, using SPSS 21.0, in order to verify reliability and validity. And multi regression analysis, hierarchical analysis were used for hypothesis test. According to this study result, first, service guarantees were shown to have a positive effect on service quality, service value and customer loyalty. Second, service quality had a positive effect on customer satisfaction. Third, service value had a positive effect on customer satisfaction. Fourth, customer satisfaction had a positive effect on customer loyalty. Fifth, in the relationship between service guarantees and customer loyalty, involvement played a moderating role. Therefore this study has verified the marketing effectiveness of service guarantee in family restaurants, so it can be said that the study has drawn strategic operation methods in family restaurants.

A Study on the Role of Models and Reformulations in L2 Learners' Noticing and Their English Writing (제2 언어학습자의 주목 및 영어 글쓰기에 대한 모델글과 재구성글의 역할에 관한 연구)

  • This study aimed to explore the role of models and reformulations as feedback to English writing in L2 learners' noticing and their writing. 92 participants were placed into three groups; a models group (MG), a reformulations group (RG), a control group (CG), involved in a three-stage writing task. In stage 1, they were asked to perform a 1st draft of writing, while taking notes on the problems they experienced. In stage 2, the MG was asked to compare their writing with a model text and the RG with a reformulated version of it. They were instructed to write down whatever they noticed in their comparison. The CG was asked to just read their writing. In stage 3, all the participants attempted subsequent revisions. The results indicated that all the participants noticed problematic linguistic features the most in a lexical category, and models and reformulations led to higher rate of noticing the problematic linguistic features reported in stage 1 and contributed to subsequent revisions. It was also revealed that the MG and RG significantly improved with their writings of MG and RG on the post-writing test. The findings imply that models and reformulations result in better performance in L2 writing and should be promoted in an English writing class.
