  • In this study, an implication has been drawn for the textbook development and teaching and learning process as a congruence of a figure is compared and analyzed between Korean elementary mathematics textbooks and American elementary math textbooks. Based on the result of comparison and analysis in congruence contents between Korean and EM textbooks, some applications for the development of figure and congruence chapters in Korean textbooks are as below. First of all, in term of congruence, activities related to congruence need to be introduced after the concept of congruence is defined either with illustrations of fundamental figures such as a segment and angle or with examples of polygon. Second, it is required to assist students to realize that compasses can be used to copy length. In Korean textbooks, compasses are being introduced as a tool to draw circles, which causes children to have difficulty in drawing triangles. Last, for the implication of congruence, tessellation suggested in American Everyday Mathematics textbooks is worth being applied to the development of Korean textbooks.

  • A table as an effective arrangement tool of a set of data has not been focused on as a single research subject despite of the fact that the table has been clearly one of learning and teaching elements of national math curriculum for a long time. I hope this article gets to be a starting point for future studies of tables. For this, the Finland elementary mathematics textbooks which use tables so often for many various purpose are chosen and analysed. As a result, it confirms that tables can be practical tools for developing different mathematical ideas in mathematics textbooks. Its applicable area is not limited on statistics but numbers and operations, geometry, measurement, ratio and rate. In addition, some ideas of the outlook, the size and dimension of tables, and the context of datum and etc are induced from the Finland elementary mathematics textbooks.

  • As the main mathematical concepts are presented and expressed in various ways through textbooks during the teaching and learning process, it is necessary to look at the representations used in elementary math textbooks to find effective guidance. This study analyzed sentences used in the definition of mathematical terms and unit assessments of current elementary mathematics textbooks according to word depth (Yngve, 1960) from a syntactic perspective. As a result of the analysis, it could be seen that the sentences in textbook were generally concise, the word depth was lower, and the sentence structure and form were different depending on the individual characteristics of each term. Also, the sentences in the lower grade textbooks were more easily constructed, and the sentences of the term definition were more complex than the sentences of the unit assessments. Efforts should be made to help learners learn mathematical concepts, such as clarifying sentences in textbooks, presenting visual materials together, and providing additional explanations to suit the level of individual learners.

  • The study examined on the general educational system, the structure of the document of mathematical curriculum, and the characteristics of the achievement standards written in the document of France in order to compare with Korean primary mathematics education. French pupils learn about 5% more hours than Korean sixth grade pupils, and French document of mathematical curriculum describes the contents included in the documents more concretely than us. There were a large differences in the subjects both of mixed calculations and division of fractions in the area of number and operations. The study proposed the necessity for researches on the concrete description of the document of mathematical curriculum, more concrete examples to use to teach pupils on the viewpoints of school mathematics, and the learning sequences and methods of the division of fractional numbers. At last we proposed to need rethink of the importances and teaching methods of calculations.

  • This study investigeted secondary math teachers' difficulties of technology in geometry class with grounded theory by Strauss and Corbin. 178 secondary math teachers attending the professional development program on technology-based geometry teaching at eight locations in January 2014, participated in this study with informed consents. Data was collected with an open-ended questionnaire survey. In line with grounded theory, open, axial and selective coding were applied to data analysis. According to the results of this study, teachers were found to experience resistance in using technology due to new learning and changes, with knowledge and awareness of technology effectively interacting to lessen such resistance. In using technology, teachers were found to go through the 'access-resistance-unaccepted use-acceptance' stages. Teachers having difficulties in using technology included the following four types: 'inaccessible, denial of acceptance, discontinuation of use, and acceptance 'These findings suggest novel perspectives towards teachers having difficulties in using technology, providing implications for teachers' professional development.

  • Much efforts have been made to improve the training education system for last decades. however, it still leaves much room form improving the system. The reason for this is that the have been many changes in given educational conditions, national and international, and that there existed the lack of training facilities on shore and the limits of capacity on the training ship. The existing program adopts a straight-through system of which the course has to be completed at same time, and also forces students to study the course, disregarding their aptitude for sea life. Consequently, the program resulted in frustrating the learning desire of some students and, as a consequence, in deteriorating the quality of the entire training education. This paper aims to develop an efficient training program including curriculla by the literature survey and the teaching and sea experiences on the training ship "HANBADA" and merchant ships, where the authors have been for many years. Compared with the existing one, the new training model suggested in this paper has some advantages as follows : First, the new model adopts multi-state system which consists of various short-term training courses according to each purpose. This system will be helpful for student to find their aptitude for sea life earlier and to understand classes of major subjection shore. Second, the model includes new curriculla which consist of core subjects (for example, navigation, marine operation, marine transportation, watch keeping and nautical English for deck cadets and internal and external combustion engine, auxiliary machinery, electric and electronics and engine maintenance for engine cadets), by incorporating existing 20 subjects in 5 subjects. These curriculla may contribute to embodying the characteristics of training education where the above mentioned subjects must be linked with each other. In order to implement this new training model efficiently and effectively, the following prerequisties must be prepared : $\circled1$ The contents of each subject included in the new model should be systematically developed. $\circled2$ The educational schedule should be adjusted according to the new model.new model.
